Hey sister
Serenity
Emile spent as much time as possible away from the castle as he felt he could get away with, which meant for the majority of his time now he was out in the plains when he was still within pack lands. He had been carefully observing the growth of the plains after the long night and was glad to see some of the plants he recognized were starting to flourish. Which meant it was time for him to try and expand his little window garden. He had his attention turned towards a clump of Meadowsweet that was growing in a more secluded area of the plains, his planter bag had been dumped on the ground nearby and he was gently scooping at the earth outside a wide circle he'd drawn around the plant. Serenity had started to become a little less anxious as the sun came back around everyday and everything seemed to be coming back to normal. When The Long Night was upon them, she had secluded herself to the confines of the castle, and only wanted to do patrols along with someone else. The illness, the possessed creatures, she didn't like those one bit. She hadn't known such an emotion existed in her but now as time passed she was starting to manage it.
She came out on a walk through the plains because she certainly got plenty of fresh air up on the castle walls. Stretching her legs was scarce over the last season or so, and she was starting to work back her physical strength. Across the plains she had seen her brother who she hadn't really met face to face. She knew very little about him at all, but had seen him traveling through the courtyard and also after the raid in the infirmary. She approached him quietly with a friendly grin as she looked at what he was doing for a moment, "Emile?" She questioned carefully searching for his gaze, because she knew who he was but didn't know who he was.
Emile knew of his older sister, but he really hadn't had a chance to meet her. Well, chance or desire? Even he wasn't sure, he certainly would have defended himself if she blamed him for not searching her out in the last few months with all he'd gone through but Emile would absolutely admit he probably could have done more, story of his life. Still when his sister approached there was the usual thrill of panic that went through him and the boy instantly ducked his head, turning towards Serenity and angling himself so he was turned towards her with the scarred side of his face away from her. He was hunched over himself and mostly looking at Serenity out of the corner of his eye. "Ssssserenity." He responded, doing his best to sound light-hearted but from his own posture, it was clear he wasn't actually as confident as he was trying to project. "Wwwwwwhat can I do f-f-f-f-or you?" "Speech" |

When Emile cowered and turned his scarred eye away from her, she took a step back. She didn't run off though, it wasn't like Emile could run her off so easily at least. She had been stored up on the castle walls for far too long, but she wasn't so easily brushed away. She hadn't seen his scar from on top of her perch in passing and she knew better than to ask. It was just simply rude to. If he spoke out, she would be there for him whether they knew each other well or not.
She didn't judge him for the way he spoke, she had heard it second hand though it was hard to sit here and focus on him because of it. She took a seat as he questioned, gesturing to the meadowsweet he was harvesting. "I was just interested in what you were doing." And she was, if only trying to find a social connection with him. "Gwynevere has taught me a couple things about herbs but I don't know much myself."
It wasn't Serenity specifically he was hiding his scar from, he hated the way it made his eye itch, the way it stood as a permanent mark of all his failures, all of his inability to do anything. It was a reminder of how much of a burden he was, visible for all to see. He was hiding it from everyone. Not that he didn't know others had seen it, had learned he had it but he still couldn't help the surge of shame he felt whenever he spotted someone staring at it, and surely they were staring. Still he didn't want to be cut off from his family, even if he wasn't as comfortable with Serenity as he was with his littermates... Maybe this was a chance to finally learn more about her and start feeling like her title of older sister wasn't just a title. He nodded as she spoke and he took a bit of a step back to show her the meadowsweet a little clearer, he gestured with a paw towards the circle he'd drawn in the ground. "I'mmmm trying to dig-dig-dig around the rrrr... roots so I can plantttt it in my rrrrr... room." He glanced back at Serenity a bit of timidity lost, his passion for what he'd learned clear in his voice and face, though his stutter persisted it seemed almost more manageable. "Meadowsweet." "Meadowsweet is gggggood for the flu ... annnnd general-al-al pppppain." |

Serenity looked at the plant as Emile stated how to successfully pull it from the ground. It was self explanatory, though she had never thought to bring the whole plant back to the pack. Only parts of it. This was a lot more resourceful. Even if Emile just wanted it to decorate in his room, or use for his own personal stock, either was fine with her. "I'd be happy to help if you want." She stated with a smile, waiting for him before going to carefully pull at the dirt around the flower.
She listened to him as he described the use of the meadowsweet, and Serenity was reminded of what she had already known. "Oh, yeah I think Gwynevere has already taught me about this one." She chuckled a little nervously, "Hopefully it'll stick this time." She relaxed after they were done harvesting the whole plant, looking back to Emile, "Did you want me to come back to your room with you?"
