The girl needed to get the hell out of this desert. Since her run-ins she'd been doing a bit better at least, a little better fed but Cendrillion was well aware she would die in these sands if she couldn't find her way out, but that was proving very difficult to do. She just kept getting turned around, the sea of sand was too confusing and the poor girl couldn't even seem to find the few scant sources of water she'd been lucky enough to stumble across again.
Luckily it seemed she'd managed again to stumble across water, but this oasis was hemmed in by stone and her path out of the desert was still lost on her. The tiny girl flopped down beside the water, quenching her thirst and resting her head on her paws. God she was so tired, her thick pelt made moving under the sun so hard.

With his official coronation and debut to the pack looming, Ardyn had stepped away from the pack lands for a bit to consider the last remaining details of his - still such a strange thing to think - pack. He’d not missed the drop in activity lately. Oh there were patrols, always those, but not much interaction.
The sun was hot, and he shook out his black coat, armor rattling, pouches bouncing. The beads strung in his mane and tail clinked and pinged softly against each other, the feathers tucked around each braid fluttering as he padded forward, ducking into the oasis’s shelter.
Though the heat was oppressive, it was still welcome. He thought it might be a long time before the sun crossing the sky on its natural pathway would ever grow mundane and not a wonderful, comforting experience.
Water glittered ahead amid the palms and desert oasis plant-life, but it was the tiny figure sprawled by the water that gave him a brief moment of pause before he circled around to avoid coming up on the wolf from behind.
Lyr circled above, then stooped and dropped to Ardyn’s back as the tall male lowered his head to drink from the pool, roughly across from the other wolf, keeping a respectful distance as he regarded her with a quiet greeting of, “Good day, miss; hope I'm not inruding.”

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.
Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.
More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.
His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.
A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.
Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.
He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
Cen reached down to lap at the water, she would rest here for a bit at least, maybe even try to sleep for a while so she could move during the cooler hours of the evening before she would be forced to shelter down for the extreme cold of the night... Her thoughts were interrupted by the approach of another wolf and the young girl lifted her gaze to watch him carefully, there was a decent amount of distance between them so she didn't feel threatened by him but the naturally shy girl couldn't help but be apprehensive, pulling her paws from the water in case she had to get up and run quickly.
He spoke and the tiny fanged girl shook her head. "No uh..." Her voice was soft and she had to lift it higher than she was used to to make sure he could hear her. "I was just resting..." Maybe this wolf could help her get out of here? But at the same time she couldn't wasn't exactly the most trusting of wolves... Not since her papa...

The tiny yearling was immediately wary, and Ardyn shifted accordingly, letting himself sprawl with his hind legs lounging to one side in a relaxed, catlike laziness, smiling lightly at her in a silent assurance that he wasn’t there to make trouble as he lapped at the water before pulling a water bladder from his armor and checking it before submerging it and letting the water fill.
At her soft response, he nodded. “The desert can be unforgiving. Not fun in black fur during the height of the day. Always good to have something like this waterskin on you, even if it doesn’t stay cool for long, especially as summer gets deeper.”
The water bladder had filled and he pulled it from the water, capping it with the lid the lemurs and monkeys had fashioned. For his paws it was no issue, but a normal wolf’s paws might have issues getting the closure shut to where it wouldn’t leak.
As he tucked it away, he studied the girl as he introduced, “I’m Ardyn, by the way.”
His tone was easy, friendly, and there was no expectation for her to return the introduction, especially as he scooted forward and shoved his whole head into the water with a soft sploosh, pulling it back with a shake and a snort, blinking water from his eyes. Still warm, but he was a lot more refreshed with the air cooling the water soaking his fur.

Cendrillion watched the male carefully, idly nodding as he spoke of the desert, her pelt wasn't the darkest but it was quite thick, her father's northern bred genes hadn't helped her much in that regard right now. It seemed this stranger for his darker pelt seemed much more prepared than she was, filling a container she'd never seen before with the water and she couldn't help but wonder what had led him to have this, and why was he so outfitted, did he live in this sea of sand? He introduced himself before plunging his head into the water. The young woman watched him with curiosity for a moment, waiting for him to finish shaking the water from his head before she spoke.
"I'm Cendrillion." She managed softly. "Are you familiar with this area?" Gods she was very lost.

When she introduced herself, he paused, wondering if he’d gotten water in his ears, then mentally chided himself. No, he’d heard clearly. The name rang a bell, and after a moment of introspection, he asked, “Cendrillion… Agnivo?”
His tone was almost cautious, as though he wasn’t sure he’d heard right, and his ears perked as he studied her. His mother, telling him about the father and daughter pair that would be coming to live in Valhalla. And then they’d never arrived.
He sat up, reaching around and opening a pouch to pull out a packet of dried bison, spiced with wild thyme and rosemary over honey.
“Hungry? I don’t mind sharing.”
