Spring's allergies had given way to clear summer skies and she was feeling extra frisky. Makara pranced too and fro through the plains, jumping up high and landing with a great oomph. It was like she had energy busting out of every single hair follicle. Her father had told her to make herself useful by training instead of incessantly bothering her mother, which she had taken a little offense to. Hanako insisted she was never a bother! So that must make it true. "Helllooo? I'm supposed to make myself useful?" she called out into the plains. She couldn't see anyone yet, but that didn't mean they weren't there.

Grimshaw was content lazing about in the plains doing everything in his effort to think about anything else besides everything else that had been on his mind lately. He started with wondering when Sirius or Azure would bring them all together for another meeting, when they would raid some pack, or if anything fun was planned soon. Grimshaw needed something else in his life, something else to think about and look forward to besides every waking moment being filled with memories of the Long Night and every dream (without the safety of Malachai's embrace) being far too painful to sleep.

It was the day after a night he chose to stay away from Malachai's den that he found himself being lazy in the fields after his chores and errands. When a little voice called out looking to be useful, he popped his head up and suddenly became visible in the grasses where a moment ago, his dark coat was completely hidden. After spotting the pale child, Grimshaw rose and took a few slow steps forward. "Useful, hmm?" He asked the small girl, unsure of her name. His mind had been everywhere else but learning the names of Azure's kids - oops.

"Speech."

A hulking form unearthed itself from the grasses. "AH! HI!" Makara shrieked, stumbling back on her paws and scooting on her rear a few paces away. "Sorry!" she yelled, shaking off the surprise of seeing him rise up with a thorough shiver-shake combo. Little white hairs flew into the air - she was shedding out a little bit late, the pink skin underneath peeking through in places. She wasn't exactly supposed to spend a lot of time out in the sun, but she wasn't quite sure why. "Yeah, useful! My dad told me so! I guess that probably means fighting, or hunting, or gathering, or..." she trailed off, then looked up at him. "Do you have any ideas?"

Watching as the girls white hairs shed off of her like a mini blizzard, he wondered. He didn't know a thing about medicine or healing or... anything, really, that wasn't fighting or hunting, but something seemed off with her. He couldn't remember seeing fleshy pink skin on anyone else quite like this, but it wasn't much of his business anyway. As long as she didn't return to the family worse he figured all was good.

When she asked what he thought, he relaxed onto his haunches and thought for a moment. "Well would you rather  fight me or find something else to fight?" He smirked, flashing her a quick glance at his pointy teeth, and perhaps even the extra teeth had she been paying close enough attention to notice that he had two pairs of upper canines instead of just one, as if his baby teeth didn't fall out and just scooted over to make room.

"Speech."

"Oh, oh, oh..."She squirmed and pranced as she weighed her options. Both of them were very good ones! But, realistically, the one that was slightly less work was the simpler option: fighting him, of course! He was sitting right in front of her! Makara sunk into a wriggly play bow, her tail flung up high and wagging in an excited blur. "YOU!" she declared firmly, then raced a few clumsy circles around Grimshaw before skidding to a stop in front of him. The young princess decided the best attack would probably be one that caught him off guard... how could she catch him off guard if she was right in front of him? "Okay, close your eyes! I'm going to surprise you!" she yelled, then bolted towards him with her head lowered to slam into his chest skull first.

When he'd asked her what she'd rather do, she left him on read for a while before seemingly running circles around him. Assuming that meant that she was going to attack him rather than search for something else to attack, Grimshaw would spread his legs slightly to balance his weight as his silver eyes watched her circle. She was young and so inexperienced, but that didn't mean he couldn't be surprised. And surprised he was when she suddenly yelled and bolted straight towards him with those darned spiked goggles aimed right for his chest as she ducked her head to ram into him. Grimshaw squirmed, hot footing away from those frightening things and nearly lost his balance along the way, stumbling as he maneuvered around her.

He didn't want to cause the girl any harm, as she seemed to have enough problems to worry about with her pale skin, strange boots, and death goggles. Besides, would Azure hurt him in retaliation for hurting his daughter? He wasn't sure he wanted to find out. His teeth were sharper than she was probably expecting and so instead he reached out with a paw to attempt tripping her and slowing her down somewhat. If he could pin her down, then he could avoid those death goggles and maybe she could learn a lesson on getting out from under larger enemies.
