The Fuck Is This? The Fuck Was That?

Seriously, the fuck was that? As Scylla walked through the aspens, (where she wasn't supposed to be, mind you) she saw something with a big, long snout come out of the water and snatch up one of the beavers. Scylla's eyes went wide and she began to stalk around the edge of the river, careful to not get as close as the beaver had been. She wondered if she could see through the water to find out what the creature was. The water was too murky, however. Torrential rains had churned up the mud and muck on the bottom of the river and you couldn't see an inch into the water. The girl frowned and turned to walk away when the very same creature lunged out of the water and tried to snap up Scylla. The pup yelped aloud and reflexively gave the creature a slap with one paw. The Gharial hauled itself out of the water and came after the pup, but she had tucked tail and run away from the river. It followed.

Athena was out at the dam, looking for something tasty to bring back for dinner. As she noses through a bush, a sound causes her stomach to knot in fear. Legs are already pulling her to the source of the yelp, hoping against hope she will be in time to save the pup. Following the noises, the earthen hued wolf comes upon a very small pup being chased by a… whatever the hell that long nosed bastard is. Not stopping a moment, Athena releases a sharp bark to draw the gharial’s attention to her and away from the pup. Wide mouth open, the creature turns to size her up but the earthen wolf has not stopped her forward momentum. As the creature’s head turns, Athena slams her body into the beast, lowering her shoulder to turn and flip the thing over. Sharp teeth narrowly miss her face and the thing hisses angerly at the retreating wolf’s form, preparing to lunge at Athena’s back.

Well, now that the attention was off of her... Scylla had heard the grunt of the gharial as another wolf that she hadn't met slammed into it. The girl skittered to a halt and turned to watch for a moment as the wolf and reptile squared off with one another. "They bite really hard, but if you hold their mouth shut, they can't open it!" A sound bit of advice that she'd learned while killing a crocodile with Dalila. As the woman held the crocs attention, Scylla ran up the length of its long tail and, pulling a serpentine knife out of hiding, stabbed the thing in one back leg. The gharial bellowed and thrashed left to right, trying to see what was biting it. Scylla hung on for all that she was worth.

Athena stares the… thing down, lips pulled back to snarl menacingly at the long snouted creature. A voice catches the earthen wolf off guard and she glances over to the pup. With a firm nod of head, the woman shows she understands. Returning her full attention to the gharial, the beast lunges toward her, catching Athena by surprise. The wolf retreats several steps while a blur of blue and cream runs up the long tail.
Oh shit!
The pup is attacking it!
Amber eyes widen as a serpentine knife is pulled form a hidden scabbard and the pup plunges it deep one of the gharial’s back legs. As the creature bellows in pain, Athena rushes in, moving to leap on top of the beast’s turned head. With a grunt, the earthen wolf lands on the elongated snout, the force of her body weight snapping its mouth shut. Quickly, she wraps her dark front legs around the thin mouth, yelling, “I’ve got the mouth! What now?” Hopefully, the pup knows what to do next.

It took a minute for Scylla's words to sink in, but eventually the fae jumped onto the gharial and wrapped her forelegs around its long snout. The creature thrashed as the woman questioned the girl. Scylla couldn't help but laugh out loud at the sight of the woman being knocked about. "Now roll it onto its back!" She gave a little head tilt. "You know, or at least its side. I just have to see the belly!"
Once the larger wolf wrestled the reptile onto its side, Scylla was there in an instant. Grasping her dagger with both grippy paws, she plunged it the softer, pale scales of the beasts belly. With all of her tiny might, she pulled the blade downward. It was difficult since the gharial was struggling so much, but she could do it. She'd done it before! A few more tugs had the crocodilians guts sliding out onto the wet grass. "Death by evisceration!" The girl cackled, stepping back to avoid the reptiles thrashing tail. The beast was dying though and its movements were becoming more and more sluggish. In time, it stilled and was dead. "Heyyyy, that was pretty neat, right?" Scylla gave her dagger a little twirl and grinned.

Athena holds on for the ride and what a ride it is. The gharial thrashes but she does not release her hold, giving the reptile an annoyed growl. The pup tells her to roll it over and the earthen wolf’s eyebrows shoot up. Roll it? Okay, here it goes. The next time it thrashes, Athena throws her weight to the side. Its head starts to pull over and she quickly adjusts her position so that her dark front legs wrap around the snout while her light back legs snake under the creature’s front legs. Throwing her weight to the side while pushing her back legs outward, Athena is able to get the gharial onto its side. It struggles mightily but she holds it down while the pup rushes in.
A flash of steel and amber eyes watch as the reptile is gutted. The entrails spill out into widening pool of blood and its fighting slows. Athena doesn’t release her hold until she is certain it is dead. Legs unwind and she shoves the reptile off before standing. Giving her earthen coat a shake, she grins widely as the small pup twirls her knife and says that was neat. The woman laughs with excitement as she says, “Neat? I would say that was amazing! You are braver than most adults I know! Maybe you can me some of your moves sometime… Killer.” Athena winks at the pup, the nickname Killer given as a sign of endearment. After all, what pup faces danger like that head on?
