These days I feel like I got more than I asked for and more.

The swamp wolves were weird. They had strange customs and sometimes talked in a language that the pup just didn't understand. They were also very nice, however, and Boneset supposed that that would just have to do for now. Plus, it felt good to let actual adults make the adult decisions again instead of having to figure it out herself. Her undeveloped brain wasn't even sure if it could take one more life or death decision if it were forced to. This was a good thing, being with them, for both her and her sister. Because it didn't look like the pair were going anywhere anytime fast, Boneset decided that it'd be a smart move to make herself familiar with the layout of the mangrove. She'd spent the better part of the afternoon wading through neck-deep waters attempting map the place out by memory, and so far she thought it was actually going pretty well! The girl even managed to find some cool frogs earlier on in her adventure. Shame she didn't keep them around though, because now that she'd been at this for hours she was starting to feel a bit hungry. "Gettin' late, better go back.." ”Speech” ’thought’ |

Prowling beside her massive frame, the two snow leopards kept a watchful eye out. This area was much different than her typical home up in the north. Not that she didn't have a home anymore, but it was different. Adjusted to the cold wintry environment, Tenshi almost grimaced at the idea of living somewhere so swampy. Wet, always wet, and paws covered in mud, she trekked carefully. Avoiding the major waterways and massive roots, the titan of a woman made her way through the mangrove forest. Today wasn't any sort of important day for her. Just a day to wander and see what there was to see. Maybe find some herbs to store for later use. As she looked around, she knew this could be the kind of place where certain herbs would grow in abundance. Horsetail, maybe? Definitely Watercress. Pausing her steps to assess her surroundings, looking for a possible hint to where these herbs lie, her ears tilted toward the sound of someone wading in water. Both of her leopards took to the trees as a safety precaution and tucked neatly out of sight. She hadn't seen her crane in a while but figured he was off fishing for well fish. Turning her attention toward the sound, her piercing blue eyes found a smaller clad in ivory. The girl appeared young, but not exactly lost. Tenshi's motherly instinct itched inside of her to go help. Holding herself back from her motherly duties, she approached anyway with a mild smile on her face. "I hope you are not lost," she rumbled in her accented voice as she took a seat at the water's edge. |

"M' not. M' makin' my way back now." The young girl said without bothering to turn and see who the unfamiliar voice belonged to. Boneset had just assumed that it would be one of the swamp wolves, as she wasn't all too familiar with any of their voices yet. She waded through the water a few more feet before finally turning her head to address the woman properly, a noticeable look of shock forming on her face as realization set in. This wolf wasn't one she'd met yet, and even while sitting down the pup could tell that the woman was huge. "I uh.." it was no use, the words were sticking in her throat. The only thing she could do was back up a few more feet and hope that the stranger was friendly. ”Speech” ’thought’ |

Her ears flicked forward as the smaller girl, at first, paid her no mind. Brushing off her comment with a response, Tenshi's head tilted slightly. Well, if the girl wasn't lost, then at least she felt better about it. Nodding to herself, the behemoth woman glanced around for a moment. Ah, not far off, some watercress bobbed along the surface of the murky water. Just what she was looking for. As she shifted her weight to stand, she noticed the little girl staring at her while backing away. Tenshi's expression flattened slightly as she turned to fully look the ivory pup over. Maybe she wasn't used to seeing wolves hold such large stature. How funny, she thought to herself as a small smile curled up the corners of her lips. "Care to help me gather some watercress?" Tenshi asked as kindly as her deepened tones could. "It's that green plant in the water by you," her head nods in the direction of the circular leaves that held steady in the mild current. Finally standing up herself, the grey-hued and golden fae slipped into the water. Keeping a distance, she took a few steps before reaching over to pull up some of the plant. Flicking her gaze over to the girl, she smiled again. "My name is Tenshi," she offered softly before continuing to gather. Maybe if she kept her distance and showed no intention of harm, the girl would feel safer. |

Boneset's eyes flickered from the woman, to the plant, and back to the woman as she stood up and revealed just how large she actually was. The pup was torn. Everything about the stranger's appearance was extremely intimidating, but when she spoke her words sounded sweet as honey. Bones contemplated running for a moment, but quickly drew to the conclusion that that'd be a fruitless endeavor. If the stranger wanted to hurt her she would, and if she didn't then she wouldn't. It was as simple as that. But why did those seem like the only two options to everything recently? With a small nod, Boneset made her way toward the strange plant that had just been motioned at. "I'm Bones..." the fae responded after Tenshi formally introduced herself. "Er... hetah yolwan?" she doubted it, but asking was the quickest way to discovering if she perhaps hadn't met all of the swamp wolves like she'd previously thought. "And what do these plants do?" ”Speech” ’thought’ |
*Fennish: Er... hetah yolwan? = Speak swamp?

While her size was more than intimidating, Tenshi tried her best not to appear as such to the younger crowd. Pups would always hold a tender spot in her heart, even if they weren't hers. Smiling kindly at the pup, she continued to pull up some more watercress so that it could dry out. "Bones is a lovely name," she responded as she glanced up to the girl. Her brow did furrow a moment at the language she didn't understand. "Īe, watashi wa nihongo o hanashimasu." The words came fluently from her as she responded. Knowing the girl probably didn't understand her own language, she chuckled quietly. "I guess common tongue it is," her words are soft as she considers a moment the girl's question. "It is used to help coughs and weak pups feel better," her statement is a matter of fact as she looks to the generous pile they've gathered. "Think this is enough?" Tenshi asks as she looked back over to Bones. |
