Cat Got Your Tongue?
Dalila Predator Fight
05-03-2022, 05:15 PM
The pup made of black and clouded grays wanders the shore of the isle. Mismatched eyes search for any predators that might be looking to cause trouble. After his humiliating encounter with the jaguars, Strix has thrown himself into making up for his errors. Since then, patrolling has become his hobby and, as the weather has warmed, the boy has found a few predators to chase off. To be fair, they had been small but hey, it still counts.
The scent of predator reaches the pup’s nose and he changes course, moving to intercept whatever creature has come looking to make a problem. Soon, the large form of a lion greets his eyes, the normally fluffy mane soaked from the beast’s swim over. Before rushing forward to greet the feline, Strix tips his head back and releases a howl for help.
His call pulls the cat’s attention to him and the pup quickly darts forward. Better to keep the lion on the defensive. Snarling, Strix aims a snap at the cat’s front leg before taking a few steps back. The feline backs up half a step, uncertain about what to do this annoying pup.

It had been a couple of weeks since her attack and she was eager to just let life get back to normal. Her wounds were mostly healed or at least enough so that it was no longer noticeable or causing her any pain. She was getting back into the habit of her usual patrols and was following the shore of the island when she heard one of the pups calling for help. Her ears perked and she immediately went bolting toward the sound. What she found was Strix facing off against a massive male lion who seemed more annoyed by the pup’s presence than anything else. That did seem to change a bit when she showed up, the big cat looking up at her with more aggravation and hostility. The lion tried to shake Strix off and kick him away before it lunged at her, making her jump to the side to avoid the attack. She pivoted back toward the lion with a snarl and lunged forward to bite hard into its side, tearing open a wound over its ribs. While it was roaring in pain and regrouping, Dalila quickly found Strix and made sure he was okay, getting him back on his paws if she needed to. Why was it always the boys that were finding trouble?!

Strix tries to chase the predator off but it just flicks its tail at him in annoyance. Help arrives in the form of Dalila and the lion finally begins to get aggressive… at the worst possible time. The pup had just lunged toward the feline’s front leg again and, the angry, large cat is done with him. The lion knocks him aside easily with the back of one mighty paw and his small body flies off the side, landing in a shower of sand. The boy is back on his paws within moments and he is glad that being young means he is bouncy. The sounds of snarls and roars his Strix turning toward the fight and he sees Dalila making her way toward him while the lion roars in outrage about the wound in its side.
Sand sticks to the pup’s black and clouded grey fur, giving him, a goofy appearance and he gives his aunt a big, lopsided grin that only adds to it. His mismatched eyes slide toward the lion once more to find it is moving toward them and Strix shouts, “Watch out!” Honestly, it probably isn’t necessary but the pup likes to feel that is contributing to the fight is some way. Small paws push off the soft sand. The granules get stuck in between his toes as he launches his small body toward the charging feline, snarling as mightily as he can. This cat is going to leave their island one way or another!

At the very least it seemed like she had gotten here before Strix got hurt. He was no worse for wear besides some sand stuck to him and some disheveled fur. She breathed a sigh of relief and was already beginning to turn back toward the lion when the boy told her to look out. She flinched back out of the way as the lion struck at her again, a couple of its claws just barely grazing the front curve of her shoulder. She staggered back a bit with a growl and about that time Strix ran in, making a mighty nuisance of himself and annoying the already aggravated lion. At the very least it did distract the large cat as it attempted to swing at the small, fast moving target and that allowed her to lunge forward and bite deep into its shoulder with just enough time to jump out of the way again before it could land a blow on her in return. The big cat took a couple steps back from them with another pained roar and as it was regrouping itself this time, glancing at the bleeding wound on its shoulder, Dalila could tell that it was starting to reevaluate its decision to be here very heavily.

Strix yells out to his aunt in warning about the attacking lion and he watches as the cat strikes out at Dalila. His aunt staggers and the boy of clouded grays and blacks sees red, small body suddenly charging in to attack to the large feline, in a sudden need to protect Dalila. His small, agile body weaves around the irked cat with ease, his mouth snaps at legs, tail, paws anything and everything that comes within striking distance. The lion growls in anger at the pup but its wounded shoulder slows all attacks it makes, allowing the small boy ample time to strike and retreat. The large feline looks between Strix and Dalila, weighing its options. A particularly painful bite to one of its toes has a clawed paw striking out toward the pup’s retreating form but finding only air. An angry hiss fills the air.

Dalila righted herself and waited for an opening while Strix darted around with the speed and agility only a pup could really have, darting out of the reach of the lion easily now that it was already wounded and making her think she didn't need to worry about him so much after all. The lion swung a paw at the boy again and Dalila lunged forward, chomping down around the large paw and biting deep into his foot, feeling some of the more delicate bones crack with the pressure. The lion roared and hissed with pain, staggering back from them as she let go and limping as it backed away. That finally got the message through that it shouldn't be messing with them and she watched as the lion turned tail and went back the way it came across the water, limping and struggling until it was far enough out into the water that it could start to swim. She gave a relieved sigh and turned to Strix with a small smile, ushering him back toward the Klein compound. That was more than enough excitement for her for one day.
