It was past time that he called his first meeting. By now it was common knowledge in the pack that Ardyn had become King, and Lyr had made certain everyone was made aware.
With the arrival of winter, it was high time he assessed the pack and learned where they wished to rise in the pack. Noelle, their newest comer, would have had time to settle in and learn the area, especially with the tour he’d given for the main points of importance, so he settled on the boulder.
Tipping his muzzle to the sky he sang a long call to Valhalla, as Lyr dropped from the grey sky, returning from informing the packmates in the further edges of the Moor that a meeting was about to be called. The glowing black and white raven settled in the oak, feathers ruffling and resettling as Ardyn waited patiently, a half-smile on his features.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.
Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.
More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.
His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.
A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.
Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.
He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.

His howl rang across the plains and her heart swelled with maternal pride as she rose from her scrolls and padded from the Seat and down the ravine, breaking into a brisk trot toward the Meeting boulder. His tall, ink-black form waited, glimmering with fiery pulses under the wind’s touch.
Thus far, she was the only other arrival, but a distant drum of hooves told her Taliesyn would be along soon. She settled next to Caelia and nudged the woman’s shoulder with her own in a friendly brush, tail flicking to pool across the ground and over her paws.
Retirement from Queendom had settled well on her and she’d regained much of her vigor. She didn’t feel as aged as she had coming out of the Long Dark, and she had more time on her paws than ever to work on the tower, the archives, and refining the scripts and runes of the pack.
Her eyes swept the clearing, looking for the rest of the pack.

At first glance, Aurielle's coat is pure white.. Her fur has an iridescent quality (like moonstones) where the fur shimmers different colors under various angles of light: in this case, the colors shown by rainbow moonstones. Not one hair on her hide is a solid unnatural color, but, ya know, it's really hard to convey that in still art :P
Aurielle's English is heavily laden with an Irish, Swedish mixed accent.
Her family is allowed to crash all her threads, Private and Open.
As of Autumn Year 14, Aurielle glows with a bright blue-white bio-luminescence in her fur, and bears a marking over her left eye - see profile and reference.

He’d been grazing, off duty until evening, when the song reached his ears and he smiled faintly as his head rose, munching the last bite down. The young heir had become king, and it had been a fine experience watching the boy become a man.
The stallion broke into a long canter, hooves drumming steadily on the cold ground. He was aware of some of the changes coming, mostly in terms of ranks and how circles worked. From the sound of it Ardyn might be setting the concept aside, perhaps for further review.
They’d just have to see what the Young King had in mind.
Taliesyn slowed to a fluid walk as he came to the meeting clearing, then took a place to the side where his great form wouldn’t impede those who came from seeing Ardyn clearly. Taliesyn was more than tall enough that he’d have a great view no matter where he stood.

Another winter was settling onto the continent, and he wondered if it would be a gentle one this time. He was hopeful for it.
Ardyn had been giving the pack time to adjust to the change in leadership and the knowledge that changes were coming, and as the King’s howl reached his ears, Cairo turned from the meat he was storing and broke into a trot, tail waving in a lazy wag.
As he came to a stop he settled beside his sister on Caelia’s other side and smiled at her in greeting before his attention shifted to Ardyn, ears perking to catch what the young man had to say once all who were coming had gathered.
He was aware of the man’s plans, having been privy as a beta. His status would be unchanged, if called by a different name, and that was fine with him.

It had taken a long time for her to feel okay again. Her mother had been at her side among the Nomads, bolstering her and her half siblings, letting them each grieve in their own ways. But duty to a pack reclaimed her.
She didn’t regret joining Valhalla. Aurielle, and Ardyn, had been so completely understanding in allowing Legacy to be gone and wandering or staying with her family to let her heart heal.
Her deep heart wounds were far from completely healed, but the scars were strong enough that she felt able to function without breaking into tears at the smallest errant thought about her father. She’d trained hard, and was on the cusp of getting her Mark.
Lyr had arrived the day before to alert her to the meeting Ardyn was planning, and today, she padded across the plains as the man’s howl rolled across the swaying grasses like the wind and thunder of a summer storm.
Eramaya would be along shortly to attend the meeting and would bring what she learned back to Legacy’s half siblings to teach them Valhalla’s new titles and anything else she felt they’d need for an informed choice or whether to go or stay. They were yearlings now, and free to choose their paths.
She’d sent the message on with Lyr the previous day and now slipped to take a seat on Aurielle’s open side, though with enough space for any of the woman’s immediate family to step in.
Taking a deep breath, Legacy straightened her spine and gave Ardyn a smile.
She wasn’t fully healed, not yet… but she was on the way out of a dark forest with many dark and twisting paths.

Legacy is nearly always clad in her Deer Hide Armor when on outings, mainly because you never know when you'll find an herb to take home. Unless stated otherwise, it's relatively safe to assume she's wearing it.

She had been rather quiet for a while, though she blamed her lingering thoughts on the long nights that had passed them almost a year ago now. She didn't think about them too much now, but every now and again, she did think about the voices she would hear in her dreams since that ordeal. She spent a lot of time working on the teachings that Aurielle and Ardyn had been teaching her. Writing, crafting, fighting, herbal remedies, and much, much more. There was so much to learn, and she swore she was learning something new every day if not perfecting and pursuing her favorite crafts. Today, she was patrolling the border when Ardyn's call for a meeting went out, and her ears perked up with excitement. She had heard he had taken the reigns when Aurielle decided to retire, and she was eager to see how or if the pack would change. She had no doubts he'd be an excellent king, and she was especially happy that her best friend had the opportunity.

She had been studying hard with Legacy and the nomads, spending plenty of time with them while tending to her duties in the pack when she could. There was so much to learn and she was doing her best to absorb as much as she possibly could. It certainly helped to distract her from returning thoughts of all the deaths they had in the pack...the pack had felt that as a whole. Just about everyone had been impacted. It was never easy losing family, friends, or even packmates...but she supposed that was life, and eventually, the grief and pain had lessened. As a healer, she knew death was inevitable. There was no cure for death nor a potion for immortality. Nonetheless, she would do her best to do what she could to better the lives of those she helped in the future.

She had taken the plunge recently to finally join a pack, and she had to admit, she finally felt...safe. Content. Not so...afraid, anymore. She didn't have to worry too much about food. Or at least, hunting it on her own anymore. She certainly wasn't the best hunter. Hardly even a good one considering her disability. She could build and use traps, but there was only so much she could do since she didn't have thumbs, let alone a companion to help her. But those worries washed away after joining Valhalla, and after taking a tour around with Ardyn and another one with Tel, she had no doubts about this place. They were kind, they had an interesting culture of learning, and there was more to do here than she ever knew possible. Her world had opened up tenfold since she joined Valhalla, and she was grateful to them for taking her in. When she heard Ardyn call the pack together for a meeting, she paused in her organization of herbs in her new den and shook the dust from her coat. Smoothing herself down with a couple of licks, she made her way to the meeting and upon a slight tilt of her head and scenting the wind, noted that there were a few others there already. She quietly walked towards the group and settled towards the back, still feeling quite shy and nervous as she sought out Ardyn's form and gave him a shy nod of greeting. This was her first pack meeting ever, and she was curious to know what it would entail. |

She’d sent her daughter ahead with Amorielle to the pack meeting and spent a few minutes squaring things away on a travois, ready for transport when she returned. Taking a deep breath Eramaya turned and gave her three remaining youngsters – yearlings now – a soft kiss, assuring them that she’d be back to fill them in on what Valhalla was to be like under Ardyn’s reign.
Then she set out eastward. In time, she arrived, scanning the gathered figures and studying them with interest as she slipped in amongst them, brushing a soft kiss over her eldest’s cheek and settling beside Legacy, eyes shifting to the young King, nodding with a smile as she waited to see what life would be like in the future.
She had no doubt that a pack that Paladin had been so loyal to would ever be unkind or unfair to herself, or her children, or her niblings, should the orphaned yearlings decide to join along with herself and their cousins.
