While the summer day is hot, there is a nice costal breeze and Athena has decided to take the opportunity to do some patrolling along the beach. Morendo, one of Chimera and Aliana’s handsome brood is accompaning her today and the earthen wolf takes time to point out useful things. Scenting the air, Athena informs him about the smell of a bear under the salty sea air and she leads the boy toward where the predator is. Once they can see the grizzly bear meandering along the sandy shoreline towards a cluster of trees, the earthen wolf signals for the pup to stop and she turns to look at him. Amber eyes catch Morendo’s mismatched gaze and she holds ut moment before saying, “We want to make that grizzly bear leave this island. But please, be careful.” Concern fills her gaze as she holds his attention for a moment more before breaking eye contact.

Giving a nod, Athena begins to lope over the distance between her and the bear, rushing in toward its back end when she realizes the creature has yet to notice them. She delivers a strong bite to the bear’s ass before dancing backward to avoid the ire of the bear. Hopefully she can keep it distracted enough so it doesn’t notice the attacking pup until it is too late.


"Athena Nocturna"

Morendo followed Athena as he accompanied her on a bit of a patrol thing. He figured it was probably time for him to put more time and effort into learning something other than singing so here he was. Learning how to fight felt more like an obligation to keep his dad happy, but he didn’t hate it either. He supposed he’d rather be doing this than healing wolves like his mom or hunting stuff.

He looked to Athena when she warned him about being careful around the bear they were approaching and he just gave a quiet nod of agreement in response. Following her toward the bear, he stayed back while she took charge and made the first hit. While the angry bear was preoccupied with her he snuck around to its side and leapt in to get a bite in on its leg as well, jumping back out of the way with a duck to avoid its large swinging paw.

"Morendo Klien"

The pup is quiet as he accompanies Athena on their patrol and the earthen wolf fills the silence with random bits of information. Soon they arrive at the grizzly bear and she asks him to be careful before they both charge in.

Thankfully, Athena is able to capture the angry beast’s attention and allow Morendo a clean shot at the creature’s side. As it turns to swing a large paw at the pup, Athena lunges forward, sinking her teeth into the area around the elbow joint of the attacking leg. With a snarl and mighty thrash of her earthen head, she shreds the tendon and renders the leg useless. The bear roars in anger and turns back toward Athena as it tries to decide the next course of action with only three usable legs.


"Athena Nocturna"

The paw that swung toward him was quickly disrupted as Athena bit at its elbow, making the bear roar with pain and anger as she tore apart something in its leg that made it not be able to move or put weight on it any more. It seemed to stop and try to figure out what to do now so he figured that was as good of an opening as any to get another hit in while they were still at it. He ran around toward the bear's hind legs and he bit into the back of its leg near its ankle, doing like Athena did and shaking his head to rip and tear as much as he could before he felt like he better back off and get back out of its range of attack. He did so just in time as it tried and failed to turn toward him, slobbery jaws reaching for him since it couldn't spare one of its legs to swing at him any longer.

"Morendo Klien"

Morendo goes for the back leg of the bear, thrashing his head to inflict as damage as possible on the grizzly. The beast cries out in pain and Athena rushes back in toward the hurt creature as it turns it snapping jaws to aim a bite at the attacking pup. Her own jaws close shut around the bear’s throat, effectively pulling its attention back to her and she releases her hold to back up a few paces.  Amber gaze turns to Morendo to make sure that he is unharmed. Thankfully, he seems no worse for wear so she returns her attention to the bear and works to keep its attention solely on her. With one last push they can either drive the creature from their shores or, if the pup wants, she will help him to kill it. The grizzly’s fate is now in Morendo’s paws.

"Athena Nocturna"

Morendo dodged out of the way of the bear's big jaws, its teeth snapping closed just shy of his shoulder and just splattering him with some of its slobber, making him grimace with a face that silently said "eww". He didn't have to dodge very far though because Athena bit at it again, this time by the throat, making the hurt, angry bear even more hurt and angry. There was an awful lot of its blood on the beach now though and it was in much worse shape than either of them were in as they got to what he figured was probably the end of the fight. At this point he almost felt bad thinking about just chasing it away or letting it go. Two of its legs were really badly hurt now and it had a bite on its throat to boot. In his mind it seemed way nicer to just kill it and put it out of its misery.

With that min mind, while its attention was focused on Athena, Morendo darted fast up along side of it and then reared up to latch onto its throat where Athena had already broken the skin, biting in deep and thrashing his head before the injured bear could react. He could feel something in its throat rip and pop under his teeth before he let go and when he let go and staggered back a few steps he noticed there was way more blood pouring from the wound now. The bear's breathing got to be hard and struggling as he backed up a couple of wobbly steps before it collapsed and fell over, gasping for a couple of moments before it seemed to finally succomb to its wounds. Morendo licked his lips and stepped over to the near by waves to wash the blood off of his muzzle and chest—and the gross slobber from his shoulder.
