For all his love of fighting, Saracyn had never made his way over to the infamous battlefield before. The red-furred Mendacium prince strode across the expansive field, his pawsteps crunching the freshly fallen snow beneath his stride. Light flurries of the white powder drifted lazily in the cool air to settle on the earth, adding to the blanket of undisturbed white. The yearling's nostrils flared, drinking in the scents on the wind, scouting for any signs of life on the plains. Across the battlefield, he could see patches of disturbed snow from where other wolves had fought before. If he was lucky, perhaps he'd come across someone today to add their own patch of turned up snow and dirt to the war zone.
Lifting his head, Saracyn caught sight of his two raptors gliding leisurely in the updrafts, keeping their eyes out for threats to their master. There was a security in knowing he had someone watching his back, and with all the bravado of a highborn son, he strode further across the field, red fur standing out stark against the pristine white world.

She hadn't been to the battlefield or beyond pack lands since her punishment. It had been months ago now, and her toes had healed weeks ago as well. She hated the pack. Despised them so much that she wished nearly all of them dead. After trying to lay low for weeks on end, she decided she was tired and bored of sitting around being pushed around and slipped out in the early morning. Whether or not they noticed her absence, she didn't care. She was frustrated, pissed, and quite frankly, wanted to daydream about their deaths in peace. She had been trodden on ever since they forced her into their ranks. All because of one accidental trespass before she knew anything about pack structure and how they worked.
She had had lots of time to learn and understand the world thanks to her father. He wasn't alive, but she saw him nearly every night in her dreams. He had been extremely valuable. Coaching and teaching her things nobody wanted to teach her because they considered her a slave. But now that she had slipped out (albeit still fuming), she made her way to the battlefield to find someone to take her frustration and anger out on. She had yet to decorate herself with armor and weaponry, and she had yet to find herself companions like many others had, but that didn't deter her. She was used to being an outcast, anyway. What would the company of other creatures bring besides more potential strife? Still...she longed for friends. So maybe one day...
Walking quietly through the snow-laden battlefield, the skeletal marked woman spotted a larger figure up ahead. Eyes narrowed at the male, and she noted that he smelled like another pack wolf. Gods she despised packs now...they were nothing but assholes that liked to throw their weight around and treat her like she was literal trash. She hated Habari and everyone in it. The only decent wolves she had met were rogues...though she supposed Ghoul was alright, but the rest of them? Habari could burn for all she cared.
Approaching the stranger, she turned a cold gaze to the boy, claws flexing in the ground as she itched to just rush at him. Though he was much larger, and she didn't know if there were others with him. "Medusa is here for a fight. Are you here for a fight too?" If he wasn't, then she supposed she'd find someone else. But wolves came to the battlefield to fight right? Otherwise, why else would he be here?
"Speech!"

The cries from one of his raptors alerted the prince to the newcomer’s presence before he ever heard or saw her. Icy cobalt eyes snapped to the side, spotting her contrasting fur as she came closer to him, headed not just in his direction, but right for him. Saracyn stopped in place, watching her with an inquisitive gaze until she had approached. She was smaller than he was, and lighter in build, but approached him with such a scornful look like she had a raincloud following her. What was her deal then? Nerves on high alert, Saracyn didn’t shift his piercing gaze from her, lest she be tempted to try and take a sneaky initiative on him. She spoke in strange lyrics, her manner of speech peculiar and foreign. Was she referring to herself in the third-person? Bizarre woman…
Unsure if this was some strange custom to starting a fight in this battleground, the adolescent boy replied, "Uhh… yes. Saracyn is here for a fight." Well, at least she made her intentions clear to him. That left little guesswork for how he should regard her. How lovely it was when one’s foes announced themselves to him. Saracyn took a couple of steps back from the skeletal-marked woman, giving himself some much needed breathing room while spreading his paws to shoulder width and bracing himself. His head lowered to align with his spine, lips curling back from rows of razor sharp teeth, ears and tail folded back and curled in to protect them. Then, with a snarl, Saracyn lunged for Medusa.
The yearling sprung with all the strength in his muscles, aiming to throw himself into Medusa and utilizing his larger size and heavier muscles to try and knock her to the ground. He didn’t want to give her a fighting chance of getting a swing off on him; despite her smaller size, Saracyn knew better than to underestimate a tiny opponent.

"Uhh… yes. Saracyn is here for a fight." Oh goodie! She had found someone who was looking for a fight on her first try! "Good! Medusa is looking for a fight, too!" She exclaimed, though her irritation didn't wane one bit. She wasn't exactly looking to get this kid in her crosshairs, but it was hard for her to control her emotions when she had absolutely no help with that. Nobody had ever taught her how to control herself. She was alone. Utterly, and completely alone. Unless you counted her dead father, but he couldn't physically hug her or anything to help her feel better.
The red male readied himself for the fight, and likewise, Medusa did the same. She simply copied him, baring her teeth in the process. When he charged, she did too. He aimed to get her head on, but Medusa had learned well enough that that move didn't always work. "Medusa made the same mistake!" She exclaimed as they got close, but within a foot or two between them, she danced to her left to sweep past the larger boy, teeth aiming to bite his shoulder as she passed.

Saracyn's charge was left unfulfilled as he failed to make contact with Medusa, watching as she dealt sidestepped his admittedly obvious attempt at an attack. She seemed keen to share that she had made similar mistakes in her past as well, right before she lunged for his shoulder. Saracyn was agile, but even all the speed in the world wouldn't have been enough to spare him from her teeth. Fangs found purchase in his shoulder, drawing pained growls from the yearling, who snarled in response. Though he didn't share his sire's masochistic tendencies for pain, he did have a high threshold for it, so the bite was painful but not debilitating. The one good thing about taking the bite was that it kept both wolves at point blank range, meaning he had the same opportunities to deliver a blow of his own.
Saracyn grit his teeth and pushed towards Medusa with a bullish shove, aiming to use his greater size and weight to his advantage to try and put her off balance. In the same movement, the adolescent male spun his body to face hers, hoping she would continue to grip onto him so he could swing her about by her jaws. If she let go though, he'd be face to face with her, and she'd see his razor sharp serrated teeth coming down seeking the nape of her neck, attempting to grapple her. Just another advantage to being significantly taller than her.

She was by no means the best fighter in the world. She likely didn't have as much experience being on the offensive considering her position in the pack. The last time she had been in a fight was when Recluse had her stupid little princess break her toes for leaving pack lands. It was for reasons like this that she risked sneaking out. Habari did not care for her, nor did they teach her anything worthwhile. She wanted to get better at fighting so that one day, she could fight to be free. She still had a lot to learn when it came to fights, and of course, she was prone to making mistakes in them as well. But she took every mistake as a learning experience, and this fight had taught her something.
She made the mistake of leaving herself open against a larger opponent. Saracyn would push against her, his heavier weight was a little too much for her to bear in this position. She felt her feet slipping, becoming unbalanced, and she used the grip she had on him to try and keep herself from getting completely knocked over, but she thought better of it and let go until she had fallen on her side. She wasn't in a good position here, and in the seconds she had, she looked up to find his teeth coming at her. Only they weren't normal teeth. They were serrated, and if she knew what a shark was, she would have compared them to that. Still, out of reflex, she kicked out with her hind legs in the hope of catching his jaw and sending his head the other way. But not without first receiving a few cuts from those strange teeth making contact, but she wouldn't notice that until after their fight.
