It felt good to be on the border patrol again, his paws tracing familiar ground and renewing scent markers that had long gone without his additions to them. Things had been quiet, even since his return, and e knew it was in large part because he was reluctant to face his brother again. Their last meeting had changed things between them, maybe irrevocably. He wasn't sure yet how to deal with the spectre of that.
For now it was enough that he had returned, and was taking the mantle of leadership up properly once again. His pack would step up in their own time as they saw him do so. He would give them time, but eventually he would need to light a fire under those who continued to shirk their responsibilities - Aerie was not so large that they could afford to keep hiding away licking old wounds.
He paused at the scent that reached his nose. A lynx had crossed into Aerie's lands here, recently. He would need to follow it and be certain it had left, and if it hadn't, he would need to remove it. Turning fromthe border, he headed back into the packlands following the scent.
