Mercury took to racing along the beach quite often as his body recovered. Building up his strength and working on his endurance. He had a few days of peace along the dark sand, before a familiar sound caught his ears. It seemed the hyenas hadn’t run as far as they had thought. Perhaps they were hanging around, keeping an eye out for an easy victim. He raised his head, and let out a soft howl for Keahi before he even caught sight of them.

He didn’t know if they were hunting him, and it didn’t matter. If they were sticking around pack lands looking for easy pickings, then he felt it was his duty to kill them. He owed that to the pack that had let him recover in its borders.


"Speech"

The days are starting to become warmer and Keahi has taken to roaming further away from the firepit for longer periods of time. The cove is still freezing and her polar bear coat is wrapped around tightly around her red form but, as the newest land of the Armada, it needs extra patrols. Red paws carry her along the dark sands, blue eyes sweeping the beach for any signs of disturbances. A call pulls her head up and has a grin forming on her lips as the red wolf quickly takes off toward Mercury and the foolish hyenas.

Time to end them.

The tall form of Mercury appears and the group of cackling creatures are starting to approach him. Keahi does not stop, does not slow as she charges into the fray. Going for the nearest hyena, the tropical woman slams into it but this time, she grabs ahold of the back of the beast’s head with her jaws. A loud growl erupts as she plants her front paws on the hyena’s back and twists her head with alarming speed. The loud snapping of the beast’s neck reverberates down the beach and she drops the dead creature, scooting closer to Mercury while snarling at the pack. Damn things are too stupid for their own good.


"Keahi Mogotsi"

Mercury let out a whoop of delight as the familiar, brazen form of the Armada Watcher came charging in. Knowing she was a good wolf to have at his back, he followed in her wake. His taller paws carried him quickly across the gap between him and hyenas. Keahi hit them first, her momentum carrying her into one of the creatures, and with speed and surprise on her side she ended it with brutal efficiency.

Before he could praise her, a hyena - perhaps its mate? Let out an awful hair-raising cackle of anger and charged in. Before it could reach Keahi, he intercepted its attack and dove into its side. Knocking it to the ground with his superior weight. From there, he grappled with it a moment before he finally got a good vantage point to go for the neck. He dug his teeth in, knowing Keahi would have his back while he finished it off.


"Speech"

They work together, trusting in each other to have the others back. A grin plays across red lips as Mercury takes the hyena that tries to charge her and Keahi scoots closer to his form as the two graple, growling at the remaining hyenas in a threatening invitation. One decides to push forward and is meet with the tropical woman’s sharp teeth as swiftly lunges forward to deliver a deep bite to its face. It whines but does not give up and, as Mercury ends his opponent’s life, the hyena Keahi bite tries to attack the taller male.

Big mistake.

Kehai is there is a flash of white and red, pushing the beast to the ground and rolling it over as she goes. Teeth flash as she strikes the vital parts of its throat and the beach now has three dead hyenas on it.

"Keahi Mogotsi"

As he rose from the body, he saw a flash of movement, and suddenly Keahi was there. Protecting his back as she attacked a hyena that had lunged for his exposed back. As she rolled with this creature, that left just one remaining. With numbers no longer on their side, he could leave Keahi’s side unprotected without worry, and he lunged at the other hyena. It turned tail to flee, and he pushed himself to catch up with it, making a grab at its back leg with his teeth and finding their mark.

At the sudden weight in his mouth, and its loss of balance, they both went tumbling. When they came to a stop, he was on top of the hyena, and it was winded and dazed. He tore out its throat with little resistance and climbed back to his feet to find Keahi had finished her own kill. These bastards would not be threatening pack wolves ever again. “Good fight Keahi, as always”


"Speech"

Keahi kills her hyena as Mercury takes off after the last one and she releases her hold on the dead creature to race after them. His strides are longer, allowing the pair to pull away from the red woman quickly. When he reaches down and bites the fleeing beast, Mercury suddenly tumbles forward, taking the hyena along with him down the dark sandy beach. Keahi races up next to him as Mercury sits on the hyena, easily reaching down to kill the last creature. Huffing slightly, she turns to the taller wolf and grins, dipping her head in thanks as she says, “And you too Mercury. At least we don’t have to worry about those hyenas anymore.” The smile grows as she trots next to Mercury back toward the where the fight has started.
