Each day Mercury went a little further. This land was going to be his home now, and it would serve to know its territories. It was a decent hike out past the wall to reach the sound, and climbing down into it was even harder. It worked muscles that had been in disuse, and he felt the burn by the time he reached the end. Climbing back up again was going to be a mission, but his body could do with the workout.

He walked along the shore, shivering in the cool wind that brushed into the cove as he admired the harsh beauty of the place. At first, his eyes glanced over the white and black creature, before snapping back to it. Too late, the tiger that had crouched to sniff at the shoreline had seen him. It rose its head slowly, its eyes locked onto Mercury, as he considered his options.


"Speech"

Eulogy doesn’t know what to do with herself. The upheaval in Abaven has left her feeling lost and the older wolf is trying to decided what her future looks like. She walks along the water’s edge, lost in thoughts of her family and the unknown times ahead of her. A smell reaches her nostrils and the older wolf stops, looking with alarm down the bank toward where two figures are. One is tall, a canine with the scent of a pack on him. The other… large feline who begins to slowly stalk toward the wolf. She reads the hesitation in the male wolf and takes off, the aches and pains of being older forgotten in the moment.

Small form darts forward, her slight build makes her nimble and quick. The tiger doesn’t see her as Eulogy races up from behind it, paws barely making a sound as she goes. Teeth snap closed around the cat’s tail and a yowl fills the air. Eulogy immediately back peddles away, dodging a bite from the angry feline as she goes.


"Eulogy Destruction"

Just as Merc was deciding he was better off turning tail than attacking the large predator alone, the faint sound of running paws caught his attention. Just as he looked across to the sound, the tiger decided to pounce. It bunched its muscles, and before it could move suddenly the strange wolf was there. Grabbing at its tail and throwing off its pounce.

It was almost commial, the way the large cat face planted into the sand in front of it. As it tried to twist and attack whatever was behind it, Merc charged in. aiming a clawed swipe at the side of its neck as he leaped over the cat, and towards the side with the stranger. Landing, he curled his gums and hissed at the cat. Surely now it would think twice about attacking.


"Speech"

Her attack works, sending the pouncing the cat face first into the sand. Eulogy back peddles as the angry tiger turns to bite her but ends up yowling in pain. The tall wolf leaps over the large feline and the older woman quickly moves to stand next him, darting a glance up to him. A pointed look lets him know that she will help before her gaze snaps once more to the feline. It hisses at them and Eulogy snarls in response before lunging forward to snap at the tiger’s face. Her teeth do not catch flesh and she has to retreat quickly to avoid the claws aimed at her own face. The cat is mad.

"Eulogy Destruction"

Now that he was standing beside the stranger, he realised she was an older wolf. Surprised at how nimble her body was, and a little considered for her, he turned his attention back to the battle.

The stranger was brazen and brave, and leapt towards the tiger. Attempting to land a strike, but was forced to retreat when the cat retaliated. As she kept it busy, the younger wolf went for an attack on its rump. Hoping to draw blood with his teeth. To hurt it enough that it would leave. His hit landed, and he tasted blood even as he released his grip and snarled at the cat once more. Now injured and grumpy, the cat surveyed them for a moment, clearly deciding what to do before turning and fleeing. Merc shook out his coat, and let his breathing even out as he turned back to the stranger. “Your assistance is much appreciated, Grandmother” he said the words as one might an honorific. “I’m Mercury”


"Speech"

Eulogy backs away as Mercury lands a painful hit to the tiger’s back, her body protesting the movements the fight has required. The cat looks at them and the older wolf snarls, arguing it flee. Finally, the tiger takes the hint, giving them a hiss before turning to flee. Shoulders slump as she looks to the taller, younger wolf and offers him a smile. His words are met with a soft chuckle and she says, “Anything time, young one. I haven’t exercised like that in ages.” Another gentle chuckle as she bows her head and says, “It is pleasure to meet you Mercury. My name is Eulogy.” A warm smile is on her lips as she straightens back up.
