She had requested Tenshi to meet her here. Sayuri did not have an ulterior motive for this, other than telling the other woman she wanted to spar. Her packmate agreed and decided on a time. It was up to Sayuri to wait for Tenshi to arrive. Cleaning her dagger, she began the ritual of dumping fresh water on it and using a cherry blossom patterned cloth to wipe it away. It was not traditional for the koi pack; just her own whims.

Looking up, she bounced to all fours once she spotted Tenshi. "Good eve!" she said, greeting her packmate warmly. It was indeed a cool evening, very refreshing "shall you go first?" Sayuri placed the items away except for the weapon, wielding it with sheath on. Tenshi was a packmate, and she would not draw her blade against one. Not unless it was required of her.

Tenshi had given no such reason. She took the handle in her jaws, giving a nod of confirmation. Her feet planted and her defenses set, she would expect.

The request to spar with Sayuri had only come as half of a surprise. There were younger and more ambitious wolves lingering around the maze, but that only made her all the more interested. They had agreed to travel up to the Battlefield in Auster for a reprieve from the monotony of Tojo's surroundings. A change in scenery was a good way to help keep the senses sharp. She brought her throwing stars with her and placed her shoulder pads on as well. Tagging along behind at an easy pace were Kita and Fuji, her mated pair of snow leopards. Soaring above, Aino enjoyed the gentle breezes of Boreas that were not laden with salt from the ocean. The group made considerable time and as she approached the eager Sayuri, Tenshi smiled in her direction. Noticing the sheathed dagger, Tenshi wondered if she should keep her blades out of this spar. "Evening," she dips her chin out of respect as she braces herself for the next steps. Her companions sit off to the side, content to watch and cheer her on when necessary. "If you don't mind," Tenshi shoots the girl a wink as she places her paws slightly wider than shoulder and hip distance. Easing her hackles up and folding her ears back, she takes a moment to calculate how she should go about attacking the girl. There is easily a foot of height difference between them, but thankfully the girl has no obvious mutations to worry about. Knowing the girl is going to be substantially faster than her, Tenshi bursts forward without notice. Closing the space in two bounds with her long legs, she slams her paws forward to kick up dust in Sayuri's face. Taking this moment to side step toward Sayuri's left, Tenshi swings her hips around so she's perpendicular to the Koi girl. Reaching forward in an attempt to grab ahold of Sayuri's scruff, she clamps her jaws for a moment before opening them once more and pulling back. Dancing a few steps away to keep out of reach of the dagger, she continues to move in a circle around Sayuri. As expected, Tenshi is an experienced foe. Sayuri does not hope to win, only to place. She is rushed and accepted immediately, with Tenshi throwing dirt up to confuse. Sayuri lets out a hiss of surprise - wondering how the wolves of Tojo-kai could learn such a dirty trick. They all seemed to be... rigid. Too traditional and bound by honor. She is pleased with this turn of events. Perhaps there was hope for them yet. However, Tenshi's grasp on her neck slips through. Sayuri had backed up once the dirt was thrown, expecting more. The woman's jaws sail through her neck.

Once the vision clears, she is able to see Tenshi attempting to dance circles around her. Sayuri hops back again before she lunges, snapping her jaws closed around the sheathed dagger for support. She aims a quick jab in the center of Tenshi's chest with the blade's end, her own hips swaying as she pivots. Whether it hits true or not is not concerned for long. She only hopes to distract or wind her pack mate. Getting close enough was the main goal here; Sayuri attempts to move closer as she dances, keeping a not-so-safe distance between them.

Tenshi would use her weight and size. Sayuri would use her speed and agility. Her endurance was acceptable too.

They danced together in tandem. As her head pulls back from the unsuccessful grab, Tenshi lets out a playful snarl. Not letting her paws hesitate, she watches Sayuri's movements carefully. Her eyes stay upon the sheathed blade as the girl dares to inch in closer to her. A smirk rests on her lips as she skirts through the dust. What Sayuri didn't know was that the skin beneath her fur was like that of an elephant - thick and hard to penetrate. Maybe it would help the girl's confidence if she let her get a good jab in... Shifting and rotating so that she was always facing Sayuri, Tenshi watched as the smaller wolf dipped in close. Brandishing that dagger toward her chest, Tenshi lifted her head up and over toward Sayuri's scruff. The pressure of the dagger dug into her thick fur, but would thankfully only bruise slightly. Lashing out, mouth wide open, white teeth showing, Tenshi aimed to grab onto that scruff. This time, she didn't release or pull back. Dagger or not, their close quarter combat would not be a good tactic for the smaller female. She dropped her blade.

Sayuri knew if she kept her jaws locked on it, she would do more harm than good. Swiftly releasing it, the ornate blade clattered to the ground between them as she drove closer. Stepping closer, she felt that placing distance between them was a disservice to Tenshi. As a pack mate and a potential friend. She would give her all to this fight, and perhaps lose... But it did not matter. The important thing was to grow.

The blade had smacked against the thick skin, causing Sayuri to rattle a bit in the jaw. But she chose to put that behind her, aware now of Tenshi's mutation. The koi woman turned her neck up, jaws snapping as she too attempted to grasp on Tenshi's neck fur. It would be amusing if they both missed, clacking teeth instead of flesh. While the aim was never to harm, Sayuri had a bit of respect for the woman. It wouldn't do to hold back.

Close, but not quite. "You have won, Tenshi-sama." Sayuri steps away from the woman and bows her head respectfully. It was enough that she had been almost equally matched against Tenshi, considering she had added benefits. Mutations were unsightly to Sayuri - at least on her - yet could give a very good bonus to attack and defense. She would consider this as well.

"Come, let us go back - unless one has more to do?" In the end, they would part ways. Whether Sayuri went back with Tenshi to Tojo-kai, or not. She did not make a fuss and collected her blade. She would give it a cleaning routine upon arrival back to her den. I am sorry she said to the object, offended at herself for dropping it and still not winning against Tenshi.

Both of them would train more, of that she is certain.
