A long time had been spent in Auester. He wondered what had been happening with the wolves of Boreas for some time. Happily he slithered across the sand letting the sun warm his scales in delight. He hunted a few days ago a few lizards and small snakes. So he did assume he wouldn't have to find a meal for another month or so. What really he was curious about were these lands. Sand River they called it? There hadn't been rain for a few weeks making the dry lake bed easy for him to cross. When he lifted himself up he could spot the cacti that made their home here. Perhaps he should stay in the west to make a den in the future. It was warmer here and the wolves here he could interact with, with no issues.

Turning his eyes to his left a cluster of bushes clung to the edges of the drop into the riverbed. Crawling closer a few desert shrew's scattered moving on their way as he inspected the plant. Thick tendrils of leaves that would be prickly to any beasts that didn't have a good hide. Next to it sat a rather tall cacti, perhaps there was a bigger tree nearby he could climb. That way he could see more of the land, hopefully a wolf would stop by for a reading. He hadn't done one of those in a while.

The air was humid and heavy, the sand beneath Hattori's paws even drier still. Aside from Valhalla he knew no wolves had claimed lands to the west and he could see why, life out here was harsh and unforgiving. And yet there was life to be found, hidden at first, but the signs soon showed themselves under scrutiny. Slithering tracks wove through the sand, moving with a purpose before it vanished at the base of a cactus. Glancing up Hattori was quick to note it was indeed a snake, a very big one at that. Long and coiling, tongue flicking but with an obvious intelligent shine in its eyes.

Not a beast that would likely strike out at him unprovoked, he presumed. He got the sense it was waiting for something, calm and still, almost expectant, like it had anticipated his arrival. Strange indeed. Not that he truly believed that, surely this was all a matter of happenstance.

"Hello."He finally said, accent thick from disuse of the common tongue.

Koby had been admiring the desert when an accent hit his ears. The snake slowly turned to face Hanzo. Tall enough to look the wolf in the eye - he was kind of glad he could do this even with the larger wolves of these lands. A shiver of excitement moved through him. "Hello!" he greeted his gruff hissy voice having it's own accent. The common tongue wasn't something he entirely enjoyed using but many of the wolves here used it. Then when he pin pointed the accent he stayed a few feet away but tried to lower himself slightly as a gesture of respect. "Watashinonamaeha koby, watashi wa ryokō uranaishidesu" the s's were obviously dragged out but not as badly as when he spoke the English tongue. "Anata no zaisan o yonde moraitaidesu ka? Sore wa watashi ni ōkina yorokobi o motarasudeshou." his head moved a bit. His hood still flat against him.

When looking at this wolf he was magnificent too. The odd colors always brought a twinkle to his eye. The chance of reading the fortune of any creature was something he enjoyed. Perhaps if he did open a ware shop somewhere he could find himself interacting with the wolf species more often.

1. My name is Koby, Im a traveling fortune teller
2.Would you care to have your fortune read? It would bring me great joy.

Hattori couldn't say he anticipated to hear the language of his homeland flick off the snake's tongue, but despite the hiss in his voice he spoke it well. Easy enough to understand, and his tone was flat, his enunciations in line with what they ought to be. The Kaichoi blinked slowly, dwelling on his words for a moment as he wondered what to say. It wasn't every day he spoke to another species, let alone one that was cold-blooded.

"Ah." He uttered, before slipping back into his native language. For the better. "I never saw snakes like you in Nippon Where did you learn the language?"

As for his offer, fate and destiny and fortune were not things he considered much in his daily life. But considering how polite the snake was being he felt little desire to brush him aside, in the same way he wouldn't turn away an offered cup of tea.

"If you wish. What needs to be done?"

Koby was delighted giving the edge of his tail a simple shake. Wolves of this kind were his favorite, smart, it seemed that this male was very intelligent. Adding another fortune after such a long winter for him was exciting. As he asked where he had learned the language Kobdy nodded. "I know many languages." he stated in the wolf's native tongue. It was nice not to have to speak the common tongue for a bit. "I've seen many lands though never been to Nippon. Traveling creatures, wolves, birds, predators all alike. A caravan taught me the language in my youth I believe one of them called themselves a Shinobi." he lowered himself to stand lower than the wolf's head. He heard that it was a sign of respect so that's what he had intended. He looked at the desert, surely some rabbits would be around.

"Catch a piece of prey, doesn't matter what kind though the more bones the better. I can read your past present and your future in the bones. Of course your future is relative - fate is ones own decision and the decisions you make can always change from the moment your fortune is told." he nodded his head. Eye-lidless eyes staring at the koi colored wolf curiously. He wondered if he would refuse or think it dumb, though normally he didn't see those kinds of reactions often.

A spark of recognition flickered in Hattori's eyes. He knew of shinobi that instead of fostering roots decided to roam the world, not so much to seek out influence but rather to do what needed to be done. Further afield, where their methods were less known. If the reptile had learned the language in such a manner than Hattori could not help but respect him, it wasn't an easy thing to pick up and he spoke it well. All things considered, even offered a respectful nod Hattori returned in kind. Just a slight dip to his snakeish bow.

If he needed to make a kill to gather the bones then Hattori was fine enough with stepping away to do so.

"This will take but a moment."

As promised Hattori was not away for long. He slipped off to the side, followed the line of the river and quickly narrowed in on something to catch. Rabbits were plentiful across Boreas and thus it wasn't hard to find them, even here. Distracted by nibbling thin tendrils of grass, Hattori snatched it up and swiftly broke its neck before it even had a chance to squeak.

Returning to the snake once more he dropped it on an extended limb of the cactus. In reach for whatever the snake had in mind.
