He padded to the boulder, stretching and yawning, shaking out the sleep from his limbs and his head. The two big cats shadowed him, and Lyr glided on the air above. It was a frosty, snow-draped morning, and a good day for some fight training.
He slowed to a stop in the gathering ground and went through his stretches and a few test moves, warming up before he tipped his head up and howled for the pack, leaving the invitation open ended, a playful note to the call. It was a nice butt-crack of dawn morning for a spar, maybe even a practice melee, or a mock raid between the pack members who were able to fight.
They’d just have to see how it went and who would show up. For all he knew, it’d devolve into a play-time session with racing and tag and tackling. It’d certainly be great for moods.

Ardyn at first glance is as black as can be imagined with a raven sheen.
Closer inspection proves that he shimmers in fire tones in every hair on his hide right down to his lashes.
More obviously, he glows like a bed of coals and flames with every movement and brush of fur. His tail is usually wagging, so blazes like a torch.
His adult teeth are in and his saber canines have grown to their full length (see profile). His mane and tail hair have grown to full length, as well as being lightweight and easily buffeted by breezes.
A look at his front paws will give the impression of hands, with his dew claw dropped low and lengthened into a functioning thumb, and his toes elongated into fingers. He has retractable, solid black cat-like claws on every paw.
Ardyn has developed a glowing mast of intricate markings in fire and ice colors over his face, symmetrical over the last seasons of Year 17 (see profile for details). During hunts or raids/sieges, he will smudge them out with black soot to cover the glow, otherwise, they are bright enough to note at first direct glance at his face. Not all his artwork currently portrays the mask markings.
He is also often bedecked in beads, small bells, feathers in blues, ribbons and braids thanks to the Ooze Event of Halloween 2021, and the Coathanger item that he got. The accessories generally are seen most in his mane and tail hair. He removes the brighter items and bells for hunts or battle.
Torben walked to where the High King called. He dipped his head to Ardyn as he neared, taking a seat in the near empty Plains. There was plenty of room to choose from for now, so he may as well make himself comfortable. His ears pinned against his skull, the sun beating down on his pale coat. He felt uncomfortable being in the open. Maybe Ardyn wouldn't be shocked if Torben left for a bit and came back. He didn't want to risk heat exhaustion, even if it was spring. The call had been inviting, not demanding. The man blinked his red gaze wearily, having just rolled out of his den. His fur was a mess; but who was he trying to impress? No one. He had all but given up on his friend, Voodoo, coming to see him again. He hoped she was well, even if it left a pain in his chest. |

The sun had barely peeked upon the horizon when she heard her brother's call. It sounded like an open invitation for...something. But she wasn't quite awake yet to determine exactly what it was for. The fact that it wasn't a call that demanded the pack's presence told her that it was something laxer, but even so, she was curious about it. Blinking sleep from her eyes as she rolled to a sitting position before trying to rub the sleep from them, she yawned and stretched, a content sigh escaping from her lips. This season, she was three now. And with the turn of another year, her second heat season. As a healer, she knew how the body worked. Unlike some, she wasn't embarrassed by the natural things her body did. But she did prefer to cover the scent to both make herself - and others - more comfortable. She quickly touched her fur up with a few drops of tangerine oil that she had made herself.

He was fresh from patrol, but he had plenty of energy in the tank, so when Cairo heard Ardyn’s inviting howl, the Adravendi altered his course and trotted toward the call, tail swaying in a steady wag.
He came to find that he and Amory, plus a man he’d not yet met directly but heard about from his king, were the only ones to accept the invitation for some play-fighting that was also training.
He nudged Amory’s shoulder with a soft chuckle as he took a seat. The morning was barely broken over the horizon, and he could hear the yawning even before he’d stepped into sight from the tall grasses.
He studied Torben with steady curiosity, and not a little ache in his chest. Would Nolan have been this hefty at this man’s age? Silently he brushed the thought away. It wasn’t a time to bring the mood down with errant sadness.
“Morning. Are we doing a melee or…”
He was clad in his armor and bracers, wearing them like a second skin, so he'd be well-protected in the event that they would be playing mock raids.

It was early when she heard the call, but she had been on the far side of the Moore when she heard it. She was an early riser most days, and today was no exception. Having been up on her rounds since before dawn painted the sky, Tel was eager to see what Ardyn had planned for them today. She moved swiftly and gracefully through the mists of the Moore and into the plains. By the time she arrived with everyone else, there was already a decent group that she joined. She tall woman sat, curling her long, glowing tail around her paws. The glow of her fur pulsed slow and steady to match the morning surroundings, careful to not let it get too bright so she didn't blind anyone still struggling to wake up. Though she did amuse herself with the thought. What a wake-up call that would be! She nodded her head in greeting to those present, before turning her attention to Valhalla's alpha and his plan for the day.
