One animal Kotori generally didn’t bother trying to fight would be crocodiles. The problem was this one had crept its way up behind Kotori as he’d been moving along through the bits of water and roots that created so much of the floor of the mangrove.

Kotori had his back to a tree surrounded by water and a crocodile facing him. Sure, he could flee but it was an insult to do so now that a challenge had been issued. Still, the thick reptilian skin was really an annoyance, far less fun than biting through the flesh of things like bears and wild cats.

Kotori let out a sigh and started to turn as if he’d leave but the dumb lizard moved forward. Kotori looked back snarling at it. It was one thing if the two were just passing by each other but Kotori would not run from it.

"Kotori Fatalis"

Seere had decided to go exploring today and that is exactly what she is doing. Small legs kick up high as she prances, the girl making her way through the mangrove, oohing and awing at all the strange plants. Suddenly, a snarl reaches her ears and the small girl immediately takes off toward the noise, knowing that someone needs help. As she nears the wolf in help, she is shocked to find her friend, Kotori, facing off against a huge lizard! Wow! This day just got weird!

She darts in, racing up behind the mad crocodile, the monochrome girl growls and sinks her teeth into the creature’s tail. The hide is thick and it takes a few attempts for her teeth to actually puncture it but, once they do, little Seere does not let go. She holds on for dear life as the crocodile begins to thrash in anger.

Kotori watches the small Ashen wolf run up from behind but doesn’t speak to her, letting the quiet attack be just that  The power in the crocodile's tail is no joke and Seere has a fight on her hands for keeping a grip on it!  Kotori doesn’t waste time in making the most of her attack.

Kotori jumps into the water, it's no deeper than just a bit above his feet.  Lowering his head the horned wolf goes for a stab, shoving his horns into the creature's side.  Near the throat sounded good but that would be closer to the huge mouth than he wanted to risk.  As it was the thing's head whipped around about as fast as the tail swung sideways and Kotori danced away.  These stupid monsters were worse than bears and cats!  Its thick skin made it harder to do much damage fast and it was too low to the ground to go for more sensitive areas.

Kotori had managed to puncture the side and it was bleeding but not nearly as much as he’d like.  “Get on its back,” he called out to the smaller wolf.  It should be easier for her to balance on it, hopefully. “I’ll keep the head busy.”  Somehow.

Man, this thing has a powerful tail! The thickly muscled tail swings and Seere fights, trying to keep her balance and keep the angry thing’s attention on her. Kotori stabs it with his horns and the small girl is sent flying as it swings its tail to smack at the wolf. The girl releases her hold, tucking and rolling as the she hits the shallow water, smoothly making it back onto her paws. Ko yells at her to get on its back and the girl rushes in to obey. She leaps onto the green creature’s broad back, nimbly keeping her balance as it thrashes around. Nearing its head, Seere is suddenly forced to leave the creature’s back as it suddenly begins to roll. Landing safely near Kotori, the girl looks at him with wide eyes and silent asks, ‘now what?’.

Kotori had imagined he’d have her biting for the neck while he kept it focused on him but things changed as it started to roll.  Kotori’s head swayed ever so slightly to the left and right as he tried to find the pattern to the rolls.  He couldn’t let an opportunity pass him up!

Kotori waited until its belly was up and lunged in which had given the crocodile time to finish one roll over and its belly was facing sideways as Kotori charged in.  This time his horns slashed into the softer hide of the belly and as he jerked them open blood was mingling with the water from the two slashes and Kotori could only hope he’d damaged something internally.

A hop and skip from water to bank as the crocodile righted itself to throw its mouth to the left and right, showing off those teeth in a defensive maneuver now that it had sustained a more serious wound.  Kotori would pretend he’d known that would work and not that he was sighing with relief inside that he’d time his jab just right.


"Kotori Fatalis"

The crocodile rolls and Seere is forced to return to the safety of the shore in order to avoid getting squished. Wide, mismatched eyes watch Kotori, wondering what they are going to do when he zeros in on the rolling predator. The girl’s gaze turns to the creature as well, trying to see an opening. Ko sees something she doesn’t and rushes in, jabbing his horns into the belly of creature and finally dealing some real damage. A smile appears on the girl’s lips as she understands and shoots a glance to the taller male as he returns next to her.

Backing up a couple steps, Seere says, “Roll the head, force its belly up. I’ll take care of the rest.” Kotori understands and moves to wrestle the crocodile’s head, the two mighty beasts locked in a life and death struggle. The small girl knows she cannot offer help and is forced to stand back as Ko works. Finally, Kotori gains the upper paw and begins to wrench the head sideway, forcing the creature to roll and expose the soft belly.

Seere rushes in as soon as the lighter underside is exposed and targets the deep wounds Ko had inflected. Teeth find purchase and without hesitating, the girl rips and shred the flesh until the crocodile’s guts spill out into the water. The creature struggles as its entrails exit its body cavity and the girl shreds anything and everything she can until the beast falls still.

Backing away, the girl plops down on the shoreline, huffing and puffing from the effort that was exerted to defeat the scaly creature. Tail thumps the ground as she looks to Kotori, grinning happily at her friend.
