Corbin had just lost another headbutt contest with Rocky the sheep. On the good side, Corbin found he had fewer hallucinations when his head was done spinning from the headbutt. Life was loads of fun. Corbin loved being out of the cave, exploring and giggling at the magical gasses that kept him guessing when something was or wasn’t real.
Looking for trouble the pup grinned as he spotted it. Prancing up to face Alex Corbin chose to state his intentions first this time. “Alexxx, I challenge you! Fight me to the bitter end!” Whatever that actually was. He swore the wind had whispered the word earlier and the term sure sounded fancy.
Corbin had stated his intention and that was good enough right? With plans clearly stated he lowered his head and charged to headbutt his larger brother.

Now that the boy was actually able to get out of the den and enjoy the magical autumn that had settled across Lazuli Falls he was exploring everywhere he could. He had spent most of the morning moving through the foliage, sometimes seeing odd animals darting to and fro around them. Little did the kid know that some of the critters he saw weren’t real. They were brought into existence by the strange colored gases that were throughout their pack’s land, though Alexander had been doing his very best to avoid them as his father had asked.
Then, just when he thought he had a moment of peace to collect his thoughts, he heard his brother cry out his intentions of battle! Alexander turned, blinking, jaw agape as he went to tell Corbin he wasn’t sure if they were ready for that when his brother came charging in. Alexander reeled back, just in time for Corbin to crash into his chest. Ouch! His breath was knocked from his lungs as Alexander stumbled back.
“Coooor!” He groaned, swiping at him with his right foreleg in an attempt to shove his brother back. “No fair! I wasn’t ready!”

Corbin had a lot of practice headbutting, at least as far as puppy experience went. However, that didn’t men he was good at strategizing how to use it in battle. He’d got a good blow but he was slow to react and get away from Alex’s leg as it swiped out at him.
Corbin got shoved aside, going along with the shove. “I told you it was a challenge!” There was no guilt in his tone of giving Alex limited time to react. Obviously, he should have just been ready to.
Corbin lunged back forward, aiming to get up close to Alex to bite at his brother's neck with his sharp puppy teeth, a mock growl coming forth. He was going to win this! Well, at least he’d do his darndest to win.

Alexander had managed to shove Corbin back after his sudden challenge, but his brother didn’t seem phased at all. It might have been a challenge, but shouldn’t he have been given time to react? The dark-furred boy groaned. He wasn’t entirely sure he liked this whole challenge system. But their mother wasn’t around to make sure they behaved or anything so he supposed he was just going to have to suck it up. At least now he could be more ready, quickly throwing up some of the defenses he’d gone over with his mother’s companion. The boy gave a mock of his own, flashing his tiny teeth. His brother came close again and Alexander moved as well, hoping to collide with him as Corbin went to bite his neck. He wanted to try and topple his brother, then pin him, but Cor had been getting bigger, and Alexander wasn’t sure if that would be as easy of a task as he hoped. Still, Alexander tried to push back, unable to hide his satisfaction at the “fight” as his tail wagged behind him. |
