The large Wolf laid propped up on a decidedly nice soft patch of grass. The green tendrils shot from the Earth and seemingly hugged him, beckoning the beast to never leave. Incubus stretched gently, nearly emitting a purr of delight. In the distance a herd of Buffalo were grouped together for the night. Some were prone while most others were standing on alert. Incubus assumed they smelled him or had seen a glimpse of him earlier. Maybe the beast would be nice enough to leave and allow them to rest, but he was not eager to abandon such a divine post so early on into the night. The sun had just set and the moon was beginning to grace him with her beautiful pearlescent gaze. Incubus silently admired the way that milky light touched the rolling knolls. Such a gentle yet suffocating hold the moon had on each and every one of them. A putrid scent made its way into that pink nose of his as inky lashes fluttered with the opening of groggy eyes. Incubus was all to aware of the source of such a smell. Coyote. Pink and blue eyes scanned the immediate area before flicking to where the herd once was. They seemingly jet set out of town because he didn't see a single Buffalo. The fur on his hackles prickled as he heard the scuffling of creatures just beyond some brush to his left. The beast didn't move just yet, he decided he would savor just a few more moments of comfort out of the land. Long obsidian painted limbs stretched and the male thought he could hear a pop or two as he did so. Inwardly rolling his eyes as the concept of ageing. Perhaps the rotten scavengers assumed he would be an easy target. Laying so peacefully in his little cradle of grass, ripe for the picking. The sheer thought of such a horrendous creature being his demise coiled a blast of anger through his core. This brought the horned demon to stand and bring himself to full height. Just as he did this the Coyotes made their first move. Breaking through the brush was four medium sized little beasts. Making all sorts of disgusting yips and yaps as they did so. Inc's hackles raised as a direct response and he broke into a defensive stance, the same one Hannibal taught him long long ago. - With ears flattened, lips curled into a deep snarl, and body slightly lowered to the Earth he was ready for a fight. Incubus would not have guessed his picturesque resting spot would be devastated by such carnage. But, here he was. Face to face with a small pack of desperate ghouls. "You will die in result of ruining one of the best naps I have ever had." With that the Coyote closest to his left made a lunge. Inc quickly took a step back and to the right. In result the beasty closest to his right made their move. Sharp teeth aimed for his front right leg. Incubus quickly countered with his own snapping of fangs, aiming for the Coyotes neck, but missing and landing a quick snap at the creature's right cheek. That Coyote immediately backed away with blood slithering its way down it's face. Quickly Incubus whipped his head at one of the Coyotes more head on. Perhaps that would show he meant business? But they carried on. With the exchange of growls it seemed like their resolve may weaken but no one made a retreat. Incubus made the first move this time. The large male darted at the Coyote directly in front of him in a flurry of steps. He raised his front to legs before aiming to slam them back down upon the upper back of the much smaller creature. Unlike his first attack on the other Coyote this one met perfect purchase. Inc's two front paws slammed down where they were intended and he felt the smaller beast fall to the Earth. The thing went limp beneath him but he knew it was not dead. Just as he went in for a bite he felt teeth snap at his back right ankle. With that Incubus whipped around, with said Coyote attached to his leg, Inc arched his body into a semi-circle and quickly lunged at the beasty assaulting his leg. At this point those pink and blue eyes saw red. Incubus managed to connect his own fangs with the front right leg of the Coyote and with all his force the Wolf aimed to yank the creature away from his own leg. It worked and he felt the sweet release of fangs but the wound throbbed grievously, he'd have to get some salves ready after this to ensure no festering sets in. A bite from such hellish ghouls could very well be one's demise.- With the Coyote still caught in Inc's fangs the male shook his head left to right with all his might. In result the smaller creature was knocked off balance. Before it had the chance to recover Incubus removed his fangs from it's legs and quickly wrapped his teeth around it's neck. He felt as hot blood filled his mouth and the thing went limp beneath him. When he knew the Coyote was dead Incubus released the bite and whipped his head up to move his attention to the others. It seemed like the other three had managed to escape when they saw what he had made of their companion. A hungry tongue slipped from it's prison to slide along bloodied lips. After a good minute of the male standing in complete silence, listening and scenting for the others, he decided they likely wouldn't be coming back anytime soon. The wound on his back leg screamed as he moved closer to the dead one. Incubus leaned down and gripped the little beasts scruff with his fangs and began to drag the corpse to his temporary den that was not too far away. It was time to feast.
