Distant Memories
Aia

Vanille had gone with Aia to see the strange changes in the surrounding lands because that had to be pretty exciting for a pup it seemed. Vanille herself didn't feel anything amiss, but she hadn't visited the strange statues that landed here. She hadn't known Aia too personally but being Arcturus' sister they were at least acquainted. They had a number of the family companions here with them too, but it seemed Vanille had the most free time to take the growing pup to explore the Autumn lands.
It was almost as if they could see the change of atmosphere ahead of them, and as they drew closer to the magical lands she would realize quickly where they were heading. Back to her old den. She did keep her composure, she kept a gentle grin on her maw as her and Aia moved into the affected land, but deep inside she was stinging with a familiar pain. She needed to get over it for the time being. It seemed the weird little creatures were here to guide their way down the river but they wouldn't need much guiding after all.

Aia hadn't been at all surprised when Vanille offered to take her for a walk. As far as the girl knew, everyone was nice and everyone loved her, so she loved all of them as well. Besides, this was her brother's girlfriend! Arc wouldn't have a mean girlfriend, right? Right! So, after telling mom and dad where she was going, the tiny purple puff wandered off at the side of the blue lady.
She was little and sweet and had the manners of a doll, so, as they walked, Aia grinned up at her companion. "Thank you for taking me on a walk. It's really nice of you." It was then that she noticed the flash of discomfort on Vanille's face and, wanting everyone to be happy, the girl slid her cheek against the fae's foreleg comfortingly. She didn't know if anything was actually wrong, she just had a feeling.
As the pair moved across the land, the trees began to change. Gradually, they changed from green to gold to orange and crimson. The child's blue eyes widened and she released a soft little 'woooooowwwww' of amazement. It was all so very beautiful and unlike anything that the girl had seen in her life thus far.

Vanille couldn't help but smile to those big, wonderous eyes as Aia looked up at her and thanked her for bringing her along. Vanille was far from a bubbly girl, but she made up for it well in kindness and care. Without a doubt she saw how cute Aia was and she was happy to give someone she could almost consider family this fun experience. Surrounding herself with others seemed to be the fix to all her problems if only for the moment. Aia gave her that distraction from where they were headed. "It's my pleasure." Her voice was soft as they moved on.
Vanille was drawn to where Aia's eyes led her, looking up at the changing autumn trees as they moved further along the walk. There was a very tiny part of her that was unsettled by the change in the lands, these specific lands, but watching as Aia was full of wonder made it seem like nothing was wrong. She could see the beauty that the pup saw. "It seems you'll get to see the fall a little early this year." She commented with a smile, gentle paws ahead of her, "Do you smell the leaves?" She asked, engaging her to discover everything the land had to offer.

Vanille said that fall was coming early this year and the purple pup tilted her head. "Why is it early?" She didn't really know anything about seasons yet. Did they happen whenever they wanted to? Was there a schedule? As she hopped along beside the blue fae, chasing leaves that blew in the the gentle breeze, she was asked if she could smell the leaves. The girls nose wiggled and she closed her eyes, inhaling the sweet smell. "I think so!"
The leaves had collected in a little dip in the land and Aia's eyes lit up brightly. Without warning, she made a beeline for the giant pile and dove headfirst within, the varying shades of leaves completely consuming her body. From inside of the pile, the child giggled and laughed joyously. Why couldn't it be fall all the time?

Vanille tilted her head as Aia asked, showing the most attentiveness to the pup. "Fall isn't supposed to come until next season. There are four; spring, summer, autumn, and winter." She still kept her attention on the path they took ahead, but she wondered if Aia could appreciate how much Vanille wanted to make the most of these moments with her. Just a little bonding with Arcturus' family, she hoped she was doing a good job.
Aia sprung forward towards a pile of multi colored leaves, bounding inside and covered completely by them. Vanille couldn't help but giggle a bit herself to the sight, and she could remember the days she was a pup like Aia. Much different than she was today. Still, she flicked up a handful of leaves just beside Aia, and tossed them up over her back. The little familiar creatures seemed to catch the commotion, and chittered at them as if to move on. Vanille looked behind her though and it wasn't like they were holding anyone up. Why couldn't they let a pup have some fun?

Within the pile of leaves, Aia could hear chittering as though they were getting yelled at. The girl popped her head out of the pile and watched a bunch of little creatures shooing them away. The girls ears tucked and she slid out of the pile to press against Vanille's front legs. "Are we in trouble?" She didn't understand why they would be in trouble, but it seemed like they needed to move on.
The pair continued down the path until Aia spied huge, orange globes laying all over the ground. "What are these?!" Some of the round gourds were even larger than she was. It was incredible to see. She circled a few of them, giving them a sniff and appreciating the varying colors and shapes.
