After successfully tackling the guest rooms alongside Audra Memento Mori had felt some satisfaction in doing something that would help get the castle cleaned. There were still guests within the Hallows too, wolves from the Armada she had heard lost one of their own. Memento Mori had yet to approach any of them about it, giving them the time to grieve in peace. She had decided to focus her attention on being productive within the Hallows and, today, she had invited Ezra to the Wildberry Grove to do something about the leaves there. The last time they had been to the grove they had taken down a bear together… Surely they could get a hold of these leaves? Especially since she had found some interesting tools in one of the sheds on the castle grounds. They were broken, just a bit of the long handle left, but she would carry partially rusted rakes along with her. She was sure these tools would help them in their endeavors. She wore a little smile as she came, hoping that by getting the leaves out from under the bushes they would be able to see them flourish even more. What could they do with the leaves when they were done piling them though? Hnmm… that was a good question. She might have to ask Ezra about that one. Memento found that she was the first to arrive at their meeting place. She set the rakes down, licking her jaws as she started to relax them again. Her pale gaze swept the grove as she assessed the leave situation. This… could take them a little while. Ah well, best to just wait until Ezra got here and then they could come up with a plan of attack. "Talk, 'Think.' |

Ezra walked out toward the grove that made up a third of the pack's territory now that he had finished up his morning patrols. The castle and their surrounding territories did certainly need some sprucing up with the crazy swings in seasons they had seen over the last couple of months and it seemed like everyone had come up with some kind of task to work on—including his cousin. When Memento invited him out to clean up the leaves that had fallen during the odd fall weather it was easy for him to agree. He enjoyed spending time with one of his few remaining family members and he certainly didn't want her to go out there by herself when they had fought off a bear there not all that long ago. Memento could certainly hold her own, of course, but that didn't mean that he liked the thought of her facing off against some grumpy bear alone either.
He trotted through the cluster of trees and berry bushes and as he eyed the leaves that coated the ground around him he realized this might be a bigger task than he was originally anticipating. Finding Meme was easy enough and he gave his cousin a grin as he walked over to where she was waiting. "This is quite the task, huh?" he questioned with a chuckle, looking around again as he tried to start coming up with some kind of game plan for where to start. He spotted the broken rakes she had brought and nodded, saying, "Well, those should help get them into piles at least. I guess we could start with that and go from there?"

It did not take long for Ezra to arrive, and when he did Memento Mori offered him a small smile. They had a long task ahead of them, but she was sure that, together, they’d be able to pull it off. “It will be, but we can do it! The bushes should thrive better once we get the leaves out from under them too.” She didn’t know a lot about plants but she figured that the bushes had to be getting choked by the dead leaves. She moved one of the rakes over to Ezra, giving him the one with the longer handle, before glancing around. “I’m going to start up there, near the elderberry bushes there. Feel free to start wherever we’re going to be at this a while.” She chuckled. As he spoke again Meme gave a nod. “That’s what I’m hoping for, anyway. I’m not really sure what we can do about the piles, but one step at a time, right?” Meme grabbed her rake and padded over to her designated area for clean up, fumbling with the object a little as she started to get into the motion of pulling the leaves back toward herself. Ezra took the rake he was offered and gave Memento a nod as she told him where she planned to start and he in turn began to look around for where he wanted to begin. There was so much surface area to cover that it was hard to decide where to tackle first, but he finally just decided that it was better to just pick a random spot than it was to just stand around frozen by indecision. He picked a clearing in the middle of a cluster of trees and began to use the rake to pull the leaves together, raking them away from the base of the trees and into a pile in the middle. It was fairly slow going at first as he got used to the feeling of the rake between his jaws and figured out a comfortable way to hold it with his unusually sharp teeth, but after a bit of time he managed to find a rhythm and his work started moving at a better pace.
He didn't really notice it at first, but at some point he glanced up and noticed Aquila swooping down from between the branches, scooping up clusters of leaves in her talons and dropping them onto the pile he was making. He couldn't help but smirk and chuckle as he watched the eagle work, making very slow work of it but still helping all the same. He gave a little shake of his head and kept going, continuing to clear up the area until a large pile of leaves was gathered in the middle of the clearing. With a sigh he sat down his rake, looking around for a moment at his progress. "How are you doing, Memento?" he called, peeking through the trees toward the bushes she had moved toward before they separated.

Memento gave a small nod to Ezra as he took the rake that she offered him. She was sure that they would be at this task for a while as she moved over to the elderberry bushes. Handling the rake in her jaws she had to adjust it a couple of times before she got it into a comfortable position. It was still a bit awkward, but she was sure it would help her with the leaves. It seemed made for gathering them up! She gripped it tightly, making sure it wouldn’t slip, and then she began to move it across the leaves and ground. The rake caught the leaves, dragging them in the direction she was moving, and Memento’s gaze held a light of delight. Her movements were steady, and before long what was a small, barely starting pile had become larger, growing in size as she dragged the leaves out from the bushes. She had stopped paying attention to the time it was taking them, and enjoying the crunch of the leaves as she moved them. It was a soothing sound, almost rhythmic after a while. Hearing Ezra, however, she set her rake down and lifted her head to see where he was through the trees. “So far so good! These berry bushes are looking much clearer now. How about you?” She grinned at this. “Maybe we could haul the leaves off somehow, so they don’t get blown back under the bushes. There’s more than I realized though, so we’d need something pretty big…” She furrowed her brow. Had she seen anything in the Hallows that could help with that? "Talk, 'Think.' |

When Meme called back to him about how much more clear the bushes were now he grinned, glad to hear that they were collectively making some good progress. He glanced back at the pile he had made as she asked him how he was doing in return and he called back, "Pretty good over here too! This clearing is a lot more... clear." Chuckling, he turned and started to walk back over to where Meme was while he started to glance around, trying to figure out what they should work on next, when his cousin brought up the fact that they should clear out the leaves they had gathered to keep them from getting blown back under the bushes. He hummed and nodded with agreement, considering the piles for a moment. "Well... We could go back to the castle and grab a couple of the carts," he offered with a little shrug, nodding back toward their home. "I think with two carts we should be able to move them out with a couple trips!" With that plan of action made he went off with Meme to go get the last minute addition to their tools, continuing on their slow but steady work together to clean up their grove and whisk away the remnants of the strange, unseasonal fall.
