Rhian was finding that it was not as easy to gather allies as she had hoped. She just didn't quite know where to find suitable wolves and she was beginning to fear that her naturally abrasive nature pushed away those she did talk to briefly. She wasn't an insecure wolf; self-assurance was as natural to her as breathing. Still, she found herself wondering if she should play even nicer than she already had been, be more polite, more good-girl. She wanted her future followers to respect her, after all, and maybe she had to be kind for that. Though of course it would only be a lie. Rhian didn't have friends. She didn't want them. But they might have to think that she was their friend, since she wasn't nearly strong enough to force others into submission against their will nor established enough to have wolves look for her instead. Not yet. And maybe that was just why she was here, waiting for an opponent to stumble into a fight with her. It was always important to do more training, and fighting was actually fun. Ugh, she hated waiting. "Speak"

Sierra was on a journey of self-searching. Her family had always been a bit free. Raised in the lands around the Hallows, where she constantly was able to explore and learn. Perhaps that was why she had such a desire to explore now. This wasn’t her first trip to the boneyard, but it was her first time giving it more than just a cursory look over. It looked like a place where wars were fought. Bones protruding from the earth, and the scent of blood so rich even time hadn’t brushed it away.

She pushed further into the territory, taking in the scents and sights, when a wolf as silver and burnished as the bones themselves caught her eyes. She glanced with a wrinkle of her nose at the towering wolf. Of course, she wasn’t nearly as tall as most of her family. But still, tall wolves. They always had to be so darn tall. Straightening, so she stood at her tallest. (A very impressive 17”) She trotted forward, until she was within comfortable speaking distance of the other. “Are you here for a spar?” She asked, curiosity in her tones.

"Sierra of the Sea"

A dark-colored, very small girl trotted up to Rhian, who couldn't resist a little curl of her lips in humor at just how short her new opponent was. She was not so very tall herself, and considered herself pretty average-sized among wolves. It was funny to think of this girl next to an actually tall wolf. But she didn't want to offend in case she turned out to be surprisingly good at fighting... although when she asked an utterly inane question, Rhian was beginning to reconsider not making the girl the butt of all of her own internal jokes, probably for years to come. "Of course I am, sweetheart," she purred. "Now shouldn't you be home with your mommy and daddy?" Rhian, as it turned out, wasn't very good at being nice. Still, she would give the girl, who probably wasn't even all that much younger than her, to tell the truth, a fight, if that was what she wanted. Beginning a slow, prowling circle with her defenses set, she decided suddenly that she should probably try to actually clarify that before she got too ahead of herself. "Just a friendly spar?" When the girl agreed, Rhian would lunge straight at her, hopefully before she even realized what was happening, and seek to barrel into her at full force, using her larger body to topple both of them over and end up on top of the girl, her right paw then slamming down on her chest or side to try to keep her down. Sierra snorted, exasperation in the tone. “Oh, a short joke. That’s original” She said. She had siblings, she knew when a wolf was pulling her tail. She watched as the other wolf began to circle her, and set her stances. Falling into the familiar rhythm her mother had taught her.

As the wolf spoke again, she raised her tiny silver brows at the stranger. “I guess that depends how funny you think you are” She said, her voice dry. A moment later, she realised the other wolf had taken that for ‘go’ and was lunging. Sierra was tiny, but that meant she was a hard-to-hit, moving target. The second the other wolf movement, Sierra was kicking dirt, lunging to the side to avoid the initial attack of the larger stranger. She was very accustomed to the wolves around her throwing their weight around. Like it meant something. Grinning and breathing through the adrenaline, she felt only the very tip of Rhian’s attack. Feeling the force of air as the other wolf landed beside her. Sierra turned then, and attempted to grab at the downed wolf’s shoulder. Attempting a quick nip with her elongated fangs.

"Sierra of the Sea"

Tiny didn't seem too impressed by Rhian's joking, and she grinned even more widely at the crackling static of what felt like hostility in the air. It was fun, messing with people. She thought she was funny, and really, wasn't that all that mattered? She was lucky to be permitted to have her ears graced by Rhian's clearly ingenious jabs. She talked back, a dry retort, but Rhian wanted a fight and really didn't want to have to back down, so yeah, maybe she got a bit ahead of herself and didn't actually listen to whatever she was saying, since she'd already decided on lunging forward. Damn, the girl was fast! Rhian hit only air as she threw herself forward. She scrabbled desperately at the dirt with her nails, but it was too late and she flopped down ungracefully onto her side, curling with her back away from Sierra. There was a sting of a nip at her shoulder. But Rhian wouldn't stay down for long; she was nothing if not persistently reckless. Before Sierra's head returned to its normal position after reaching out to nip her, Rhian would attempt to pull herself onto her forelegs and reach up to lightly nip the underside of Sierra's neck in return. Sierra felt skin and fur in her maw and knew her initial attack had landed. Despite her attempt to pull back with all speed, her opponent struck. She could feel the other wolf's teeth graze against the underside of her neck, and Sierra yanked her head away with a grimace.

With the other wolf's head reaching forward for Rhian’s second attack, Sierra attempted to grab at the wolf's cheek with her own long fangs. This time, she would attempt to dig in and hold on - for better or worse. She hated fighting in close to the big wolves, but there came a point where you had to face them. Instead of darting around the edges.
