Kotori was in a fight against a polar bear.  He hadn’t exactly started it but it couldn’t be said he’d tried to avoid it either.  Kotori had been innocently walking, following the scent of bear and going in closer than it had appeared to feel comfortable.  The polar bear had finally been ticked off enough that it had charged to attack Kotori. So clearly Kotori hadn’t just been looking for a good fight.

The polar bear snapped its jaws for Kotori’s face but the wolf had already leaped sideways, his own jaws clamping down on the bear’s front leg, biting down then letting go to avoid the revenge strike of one of the bear’s huge paws.  The two were standing on snow but Kotori could feel ice hidden just a bit underneath. Maybe he should fight more often up here, it offered another good form of practice. Anyway, Kotori could use a white pelt for his den floor.

Andromeda had snuck away from the familiarity of pack lands for a little alone time. The winding pathways up this mountain intrigued her and the purple pup slowly meanders along as her thoughts turn to upcoming season. She ponders the fact that she and her siblings will turn one and that their mother will not be there to celebrate with them. The sound of a scuffle further upward pulls the pup from her thoughts as the lavender girl pauses to scent the air. One of the combatants is a polar bear and the other is a wolf of a pack she does not recognize.

Leaping into action, the girl races along the windy, snow-covered paths until an earthen wolf and angry white bear come into view. Lavender form rushes past the male as she, unknowingly, rushes to the aid of her older brother. With a snarl, Andy tucks her chin and raises her front end off the ground, sending her kudu horns into the neck of the polar bear. It roars, rearing up to get its neck off her sharp horns while aiming a retaliating sharp clawed paw in her direction.

Andy drops back, toward the stranger (who she still does not know she is related to) and darts a glance toward him, offering a small smirk before turning her attention back to the bear.

Kotori knows his family scent anywhere and the smell of the armada that had been part of his life for many a year.  Still, that was a thing to pay attention to later.  If the young one wanted to play then let it.  She had injured the bear and encouraged it rear up.  Kotori thinks about going for the belly but decides against it right then, not wanting to risk the bear falling on top of him.  Since he wasn’t going to gut it Kotori went for the alternate plan of lunging forward two strides to bite into the furry and beefy back leg of the bear.  This would make for a great pelt so long as he didn’t put too many holes in it.
 
Shaking his head he danced along as the bear tried to turn towards him, thinking to take Kotori away from the leg.  The horned wolf let go long enough to dance a stride and bite right back into the leg, paying attention to keeping behind the bear no matter how tightly it turned.  Soon enough the bear would be perfectly lame, and shortly after that, it would be dead.

While Andy knows that she has family outside of the Armada, she does not know them by sight. The earthen male who dances around the bear, shaking his head at her, is a stranger but the girl’s grin grows. He goes for the back leg again, drawing the creature’s attention toward him and the young girl uses the opening. Rushing forward, she once again tucks her chin, aiming her horns at the underside of the beast’s neck to open the wound that she had already made, even further. A pained grunt is her reward and blood now pours at an alarming rate from the polar bear’s neck. Paws hit the ground and the pup scrambles backward, readying herself to deal the killing blow when the perfect opening is presented.

That was a good amount of blood coming from the bear after the young girl jabbed it.  Kotori leaped on top of the bear, biting into the top of the neck, snarling and jerking his head side to side.  It opened a tear in the neck, not particularly huge from one round but it also stretched out the injury below, widening the lower wound and pushing out the blood faster.

The bear roared and tried shaking Kotori off but the animal really didn’t have much strength left.  Still, at one particularly desperate buck the earth-toned wolf hopped off the bear before stepping back and watching it.  “Go ahead,” he spoke to Andy.  It’s almost dead.  Kill it.  If it tries to attack I’ll divert it.”  She wasn’t pack but her scent was classified as family all the same.  The Fatalis wolves needed to be strong and so it made sense to let the less experienced get more chances to learn.

Andromeda watches silently as the earthen-hued wolf places himself on the polar bear’s back and being so high up on the mountain, the girl considers what a risky move that is. She dances backward as the stranger opens a wound on the back of the bear’s neck and, in the process, further opens the wounds she has made. The dying creature unseats its rider and she looks to the older wolf, blinking in surprise as he tells her to kill it.

Lips set in a firm line, the pup nods her agreement and looks to the sluggish creature. It lurches to the side and Andy’s purple form darts in, expertly launching up to grab hold of the open wound. Teeth sink deep into the bear’s neck and, with a snarl, she severs every important thing that rest there. The pup scrambles backwards, away from the creature that gurgles and chokes on its blood while looking forward with glassy eyes.

It doesn’t take long for the beast to slump to the ground and, with a sigh, die. Looking to the stranger, she offers him a firm nod before swiftly turning around and making a beeline back down the mountain and toward the Armada lands. Stranger danger and all that.
