Aurielle’s own coat made stealth a less easy task. The man was ready for her. Luckily, the armor she wore dampened the worst of the bruising, but she’d be wearing a good amount of bruise poultice clay when all was said and done and the battle had been won or lost. At least he’d have some bruises to tend, too. His weight shifted to press on her as his jaws aimed toward her cheek, and Aurielle sought to abruptly let herself drop back a step or two, removing her support. He’d probably be smart enough not to let all his weight hang into that pressure, but if she could interrupt his balance even slightly, that would be fine. His jaws missed her thanks to her abrupt disengagement, and she sought to lunge back toward the man, aiming a slash of her own sabers at Gilgamesh’s neck along the lower right side, well above the throat and away from any vitals. The staff came hurtling towards him, no doubt intended to give him a strong wallop on the head. But instead of dodging out of the way he moved to grab the staff, fulling intending to snatch it from the mandrills grasp and use the weapon for his own means. At the same time he adjusted his footing, his kitty claws unsheathing as he better gripped the terrain beneath his paws. It helped as the staff was nice and long, meaning he could dodge the wolf's attack whilst countering the mandrill at the same time. The best fighters chained attacks together, kept the momentum going as they pushed their opponent onto the defensive.

It wasn't until the last moment when he was mere inches away from his opponent that he noticed the spiny bristles. If the rebuttal had gone any differently, Scald would have indeed gotten a mouthful of ouch. Instead, to Scald's surprise, his own mouth was quickly being shut. He would have noticed a half moment sooner if he hadn't been shoulder checked in return. Pain radiated from his own bony shoulder. An immediate wince that firmly shut his eyes left him reeling and vulnerable. The boy would undoubtedly be hearing from his father about the poor direction he'd taken. Moments prior he had been full of adrenaline and excitement. Eager to try and rip into a stranger and get a win in the raid. That feeling was now gone as he felt a surge of panic. Those curving fangs he had noticed before cut into his muzzle. They clamped down on him as he tried to forget about the aching pain in his shoulder. Feeling trapped and unsure of what to do next, he remembers his scuffle with Sparrow. If he flailed enough, maybe the guy would let go. Quickly now, before his opponent could have time to do something, Scald reached out a gloved paw. Somewhat neatly sewn in claws aimed to try and rake at the man's chest. Blindly striking as he kept his dual-colored gaze closed, Scald began to shake his head wildly. Thrashing from side to side, he braced himself with his rear paws. Digging in those gangly teenage limbs he leaned his weight back to stabilize the rest of his body. If his opponent suddenly let go of his muzzle he was sure to topple over. The woman was quick but so was Gil. Agile and practiced, he felt her weight shift backward away from him. She misses the smooch of his fangs but he continues to watch her. Pulling his own weight back to restabilize his center of gravity, he sees her dart back in. Two would play this game, huh? Gil couldn't help but smirk as she aimed for his neck. Light on his paws, he leaned away from her strike before twisting his shoulder back toward her muzzle. Hoping his chainmail would strike her where it hurt, he nearly missed her next weight change. Distracted by his counterattack, he saw from the corner of her eyes as her tail shifted to help her balance as a paw raised up. Without much time to dodge, he let her paw come down between his toes. A bout of pain made his insides clench but he was ready. Gritting his teeth, he quickly retaliated by going back in for another bite toward her face. Ensuring that his fangs were fully flipped down, he aimed slightly higher along her cheek, closer to her ear. If all of her weight was pressed onto his foot, it would be hard for her to find time to dodge his oncoming fangs. The man's fangs cut into the top of her muzzle as she pushed forward. The shallow skin gave way easily among the already scar-laced bridge of her nose, dribbling blood down and into he corners of her mouth. This, however, gave her free access to try to grab his tongue with the teeny teeth in the front of her maw- not enough to rip it, but she knew it felt terrible to bite your tongue even a little and the crunch it made rattled through your skull. Maybe she could get him to pull back first.

The man shoved into her left and he lifted his front legs to try to snatch her front legs. Only she sought to double down, ducking into his weight and aiming to shove herself towards his back paws, hoping to destabilize him as he grasped for her.

Deluge and Modesty had gotten distracted checking out the lay of the land. The girl had even bothered to vaguely gesture in the direction of the island she had washed up on when she had learned how to catch crabs from pestering Azure. Before they knew it, Rexx and Scald had already been knocked out of action and the mottle coated yearling huffed around a grin, her indignation clearly feigned. Nobody beat up her brothers but her thank you very much! (that was unfounded, she was more likely to wander off and fall down a hole, but that was beside the point!)

The sudden adrenalin gave the girl a gentle glow as she moved towards the one that had been fighting Rexx, dipping her head ever so slightly to use her horns in a right shoulder shove to get the smaller woman off balance. The angle of her head hid her grin, she'd only come along for a good time, but if she could rub a win in her brothers faces, all the better.

With Deluge making a beeline for the woman that had knocked the wind out of Rexx's sails, Modesty turned her attention to the man that had stopped Scald in his tracks. A proud lift of her chin and a rueful grin crossed her face, aww man she hated fighting, but clearly this was one thing the kids took after her in. Well, she supposed now was as good a time as any to show them where they got it from.

Like as not, she'd trip clean over her own feet trying to get her body over her son and between the older man, quills bristling defensively as her antlered head tucked to cover the delicate flesh of her throat. With momentum, she would aim for the same shoulder that had knocked Scald down, hoping it still hurt from the previous impact.

Flurry was nothing if not her mother's daughter, even as Modesty wasn't super interested in being a mother, Flurry had learned how to goof off from the best. So much like her sister and mother she arrived to the raid to find that several of her pack were already engaged in combat, mismatched gaze scanned over the plains-turned battlefield and she suppressed a disappointed sigh. It seemed she would not get a chance to just launch herself into the fray.

So instead Flurry took this as a chance to traipse further into the pack lands than her pack mates had managed to get before they'd been stopped, though she did so without a single ounce of stealth. "Oh no I hope some sheepherd doesn't see me!" She said loudly as she went. Yeah, it probably meant that she'd get stopped, which wasn't necessarily the point of a raid but she'd been kept from the last few raids due to age so she'd be damned if she wasn't getting into a fight or two this time!

Enito was no slouch when it came to using the staff. As the boy went to grab the staff, the mandrill shifted his course of attack and sought to jab the end of the staff down the boy’s throat with a bump, tightening his grip to maintain a hold on the weapon. Cairo’s swipe fell slightly short of the mark and he smoothly propelled himself toward the pup’s hind end, the attacking paw dropping to the ground and back into balance in the course of a stride as he sought to snap his jaws shut on the boy’s tail at the midpoint. Crysta dropped abruptly and sought to slam down on the pup’s shoulders with a rake of talons in a fly-by attack. Aoife was pleased to send the opponent she'd been fighting off defeated, but was surprised to already find another waiting to take his place. Surprised, but not disappointed - she flashed the much-larger yearling a fierce grin and with only a heartbeat to catch her breath she was right back into the fight, with the girl looming over her and trying to shove Aoife's shoulder with her antlers. Aoife, who wasn't particularly known for thinking things through in a fight and certainly had never had a healthy level of caution, didn't give her the chance to make contact but instead leaped at the lowered, dire sized head that was nearly the size of her own body. Her mutated forepaws sought to grasp those threatening antlers, her hindpaws with their tiger claws aimed to kick and dig at Deluge's muzzle and cheeks like climbing a tree, scrabbling for purchase. As her leap carried her forward and upward, she also attempted to sink her fangs into Deluge's scruff behind her skull, aiming to insinuate herself between the antlers to do so. Distantly she was aware of her leopard companion circling, waiting for a better opening of her own.

The boy was defeated swiftly. Red was given no time to feel guilt though as a woman hastily threw herself between he and the boy to throw herself at him. Like his own daughter, she bristled with quills along her neck, making for an unpleasant prospect to fight. As she threw herself at his bruised shoulder he shifted so the impact fell instead to the other shoulder and he braced himself to take the woman's weight. As he did, he aimed a bite to the meaty part of her opposite shoulder, heavy jaws with the thick flat fangs ready to grip and hold there.

The smaller woman was fast and Deluge clenched her eyes tightly closed as feline claws came out to scratch at her face. The adrenalin and shock of the situation made the whitest parts of her coat thrum blue. Instinctively, she lowered her head closer to the ground in the process, the same way she would sometimes rub her antlers against trees, but this time through the grass and dirt of the plains. She lifted her own clawed paw, forgetting about the spiny mowhawk on the other wolfs head, as she further attempted to drag her off (but she was hesitant to cause any lasting injuries). The screaming of her lapwing overhead did little to assist the girl in finding any sort of calm. Her face felt wet with what she could only assume was blood. What she couldn't see was her companion dive bombing a feline at her rear, spurred wings  at the ready to be wielded like weapons.

Trying to avoid stepping on Scald had probably been a bad idea, coupled with the twisting of her opponents feet and her own general lack of interest in fighting she did indeed, trip over her own paws, the only small consolation being that she managed to bump her opponents shoulder on the way down. Her chin hit the grass of the plains, hard and maybe she even bit her tongue a bit, the bitter taste of copper fresh in her mouth... Her eyes watering was only increased as big teeth bit into her exposed shoulder. A loud “Ahh!” left her lips and she shot the red man a dirty look, like was that even fucking necessary? Never mind she was the one trespassing in the first place.

In retaliation she scrambled to clamp her teeth around an ankle, wriggling her back end to pedal at the air hard. She doubted he'd be foolish enough to get close, but if she did, then maybe she could kick him in the ribs.

The call to battle had come, but Taliesyn had delegated himself first to driving the herds farther afield, though he considered the merits of stampeding a bison herd into the raiders. The notion was quickly set aside. Bison in a panic didn’t differentiate between packs. All wolves were fair game for a stomping. Once he’d sent the herds packing, the stallion had wheeled back to let Wangui slip his horn blade and head armor onto his head. By the time the stallion was barreling into viewing range of the fight, the battle was in full swing. Isolde spotted the yearling first, arrowing in ahead of the stallion to guide him. He managed to catch the purposefully loud words and had to smile a little before his head snaked down, head tipped to one side to get a good look at the wolf. Horns and sabers, but no armor that he could see at a glance, and unless they were tucked away in the grass, he didn’t see any companions. He sought to barrel down on the young wolf, head low and teeth baring in typical stallion challenge, coming head to head and seeking to veer slightly to his own right and swing his heavy head toward his left, aiming to snatch the wolf in his teeth by her scruff between the shoulder blades, intending to lift her off her feet and throw her through the air with the sheer strength in his jaws and neck. His front hooves, meanwhile, aimed to slam down on the ground near her paws. He wasn’t aiming to make contact with the stamping, just startle her. With his side, weight, and hard hooves, actual contact would possibly cripple her paws. Flurry slowed as she heard a loud pounding, was that thunder? She was starting to tip her head back to check the state of the clouds when something deeper in her, more primal, maybe instinct, pulled her attention towards the sound instead of the sky. "Oh fuck!" She exclaimed as she took in the massive hooved, horned form barreling down on her, that wasn't no wolf! Wasn't a sheep either. Flurry hadn't really seen a horse before, she knew of them... Like conceptually... But she didn't really have time to try and go through the catalog of animals she knew, instead she was already desperately starting to shift her movement. A "holy shit" left her lips as she skittered to her own right, ducking as she went, feeling square teeth scape her left shoulder painfully as the horse made to grab her, to scruff her. There was a flash of indignation that a prey animal, even a fancy horned one would try and scruff her like a pup but she had to shake that from her mind because from her perspective the horse had just tried to stomp her though her movement had taken her clear of it. Scary! Flurry was moving on pure feeling now, attempting to skid to a halt, using the momentum of her movement she would attempt to swing her hips so she was now perpendicular with the horse before attempting to charge forth again, jaws parting and head craning to try and grab hold of the horse's left foreleg, trying to get a hold just above the weird knobbly joint just above the hoof, the fangs in her mouth pivoting forward to try and deal max damage if she even got close.

His appearance on the scene sent the yearling skittering with a set of alarmed curses, though not quickly enough to evade at least a scrape of his teeth over her hide. She’d skidded into a spin and come up at a ninety-degree angle to his forelegs and he spotted the dive for his knee. The stallion struck out sharply with that foreleg, aiming to crack the pup lightly on the forehead with his feathering-shrouded hoof as his weight adjusted to his other three legs. Simultaneously, his neck arched and his head swung down and to the side, teeth aiming for the girl’s back, again intending to snatch the girl up and hopefully send her into the air as far as he could yeet her. His already generally bright glow was blazing with the rush of battle. He’d not had time to roll a good coat of mud over his coat, mane, and tail, though that was generally best done for offensive raids.
