First winds of spring
Cerberus

Ruse peeked over the edge of the sheer cliff they walked along, whistling softly as she looked down at the waves that crashed against a thin shoreline below. The winds were blustering today so the ocean was ragged and choppy, some of the waves even getting high enough to almost swallow up the thin shore of white sand and crash into the base of the cliff. It wasn’t the most ideal weather to go out exploring, but this was the first day she could really feel a difference in the temperature as their north western home began to creep toward spring and she wasn’t going to miss out on that.
Of course, as always, she had managed to convince Cerberus to go out with her—not that it really took much convincing. It seemed that as long as he wasn’t actively tied up in some task or job there wasn’t much he wouldn’t agree to do with her. She looked back up from
The edge of the cliff and turned her head to look up at the handsome features of her brother, a grin pulling at her lips as she watched how the wind buffeted his fur and made it puff up around his face.
She opened her mouth to comment on it and poke fun at her larger sibling, but she failed to notice the way the edge of the cliff began to dip in toward their path and when she took a step forward her paw landed on little more than crumbling rock and thin air. Her pale two-toned gaze went wide for a moment with a gasp as she began to fall to the side, scrambling a bit as she tried to find her balance.

Cerberus was happy to be joining his sister out on one of her endeavors. As he had been his entire life. duty had typically come before anything else when it came to life style. Things seemed to change as his relationship dove deeper with his sister. Second nature to him, and not much of a strange feeling anymore. Not being the heir here in Elysium had given him the opportunity to be more flexible. He was taking advantage.
They walked along the edge of the moontouched cliffs, Cerb hadn't noticed the way Ruse had been admiring him at first. He'd finally catch that glimpse, or that feeling as they moved. His own gazed flicked towards her as a familiar warm grin grew on his maw. And not even a few seconds later was Ruse slipping under her paws. Cerb acted quick, that smile instantly feel into harsh worry as Ruse's own emotions changed in that movement. He nearly leapt forward and wrapped his arms tightly around her neck and shoulders, pulling her back closer inland and tumbling backward himself in the panic. She may not have gone falling over the edge had he done nothing, but he still had that quick reflex to grab her. "Don't" His voice was hard at first, maybe edging on angry but that only last a couple words in before he went soft again and into quiet chuckles, "do that again." He didn't jump up immediately, but he loosened his grip around his sister. Definitely relief he had been able to grab her and she hadn't taken the fall.

Everything happened so quickly and in the blink of an eye she went from feeling weightless as she began to slip past the edge of the crumbling cliff to feeling Cerberus' strong forelegs wrap around her and yank her back to solid ground. Her larger brother tumbled backward as he frantically pulled her back to safety, causing her to fall on top of him in the process, and as she panted lightly from the rush of adrenaline she blinked her eyes open again and looked down into Cerb's mint green eyes. Her ears flicked a bit at the sharp edge to his voice as he began to speak, but as he continued and smoothed back to the easy, soft tones she had come to expect from him she easily relaxed again, giving him a little grin with a guilty glance. She had no idea of knowing how fragile that cliff was, but it had been very reckless of her to be walking so close to the edge–especially while she was so distracted by him.
"Sorry," she replied with a little chuckle of her own, tipping her muzzle up to place an apologetic lick over his cheek. She had never really been shy about her affections, being naturally affectionate as it was, but ever since she and Cerberus had spent the night away on their little adventure she had been even more free with her affection for him and far less uncertain about what her desires were. She shifted a bit to lay a bit more comfortably, rearanging slightly since they fell so haphazardly, but she didn't move to get off of him just yet unless he showed that he wanted her to. Her grin grew a little as she joked, "To be fair, it's kind of your fault for being so distracting." She giggled at her own flirtatious joke as she stretched her body out over top of his larger frame more comfortably. Their stroll past the cliffs had taken a bit of a detour, but she couldn't say she was upset at the turn of events.

Cerberus' paws moved gently down his sister's sides as they found more solid ground under him, he wouldn't push her off and dismiss the affections that became so regular for them. He hummed to himself as Ruse spread out across his body. That hum turned into a bit of a chuckle in response to what she told him. The thought of her going over the edge of the cliffs felt like a distant memory now, and it was. She was safe now.
He wrapped his arms around her, pushing them over until he was on top of her and away from the cliff's edge, "I think that excuse is only supposed to work for me." He wasn't serious because the way she looked at him and saw him was validating to him even if it seemed like he didn't need that. Ruse's further affections with everyday that went by, it changed something in Cerberus. It made him care more for her than he had before while that had seemed nearly impossible. It made him see her differently in a physical light. He did like to see or think that she felt the same way that he did for her. It was easy for him.
He pressed his chest against hers gently, pinning her against the ground with a little bit of a hold in his breath from what the motions could mean to him. He'd be a little quicker to release her and stand up this time, looking back to her with that usual crooked grin, "Come on." They still had more of the cliffs to see. Hopefully without any more close calls.

Ruse gasped softly as Cerberus pushed her over and onto her back so that his body was on top of hers, making her grin and giggle as she looked up at him and settled into the soft grass under her. The quip he gave in return about how that excuse should only work for him made her grin widen and her tail wag gently against the grass. He always made her feel attractive, but moments like this still made those butterflies kick up in her stomach and made her cheeks flush. She very much enjoyed all of his attention and loved getting time alone with him like this. Even though she loved all of her siblings and enjoyed the time that they all had together in their shared space, she did feel a bit selfish with Cerberus and wished sometimes that she could go back to when they were on their own and she had his undivided attention.
As his chest pressed into hers, he made her breath catch, her paws slipping up to rest on his shoulders as she awaited eagerly what she thought he was going to do next–only for him to instead get up and tell her to come on. She groaned with disappointment and gave him a mostly playful glare as she rolled to her feet, giving her speckled coat a quick shake before she loped to catch up and return to his side as they continued on along the cliffs. "Such a tease," she muttered to him with a grin, nudging his shoulder lightly with her own before she shifted her two-toned gaze back out across the landscape beside them–of course while being much more careful about where her paws were being placed as they went.
