Onyx felt a little disappointed about being left behind in the pack to take care of the guard. She had never been a part of a raid before but there was that time they were all instructed not to defend against one when she was young in Incendium. Fucking pointless. Her and her family were in no way cowards and maybe that was what made her itch to be there where the action was. She supposed this was still an important job of course, but a lot more boring on her terms.

They saw the fighters and healers that were accompanying the raid party off, and her, Manea, and Kichi would regroup to make the plan for their own defense. The island was difficult for anyone to infiltrate easily, so they'd focus their energy on the mainlands here. And maybe Manea could make the trip back to the island once they made their rounds and set up positions out here.

"Uh, so I guess we can run a patrol along the borders of the rock garden and extend to the Lake." Onyx wasn't exactly social or friendly, but she still took a glance across the other two. "Kichi can take over the lake and Manea and I can head back here and then we'll split so you can go back to the island."

While it felt strange to be without any of her family and to send them all of to a raid without her, she knew that her children needed a chance to fly on their own and someone had to hold down the fort where while the others were away. It had been especially difficult to let her youngest pups go and the only reason she had eventually relented and allowed it was because of the fact that Alastor would be there with them. It was just a practice raid with an ally so she certainly didn't expect anyone to come back with any major injuries, but a fight was still a fight so things could still happen. For now she could focus her attention on the patrol she would run with Kichi and Onyx while the others were gone and let that distract her from worrying and wondering how they were all doing. Hopefully they were all doing Elysium proud.

Making their way out toward the border along the edge of the rock garden, Onyx was given the lead and she blue-hued woman suggested that they begin the patrol here, make their way around to the lake, and then double back before they split off into their separate posts. She nodded with agreement easily, adding, "The guard post near here and the one by the lake should be well equipped to be a shelter for the night so the two of you can keep watch as well after our patrol is done. I'll head back to the island to do a sweep there and then come back to check on you both later." She looked to Kichi to see if he had any input before they began the patrol in earnest, following the pack's border and looking for any unusual scents or predators. The borders had been fairly quiet as of late so she didn't expect anything to happen, but with the rest of the pack absent it still put her a bit more at ease to be sure.

"Manea Mendacium"

Kichi had followed along, watching the other wolves leaving for the raid.  It was fine that he hadn’t gone with them as the silver wolf didn’t particularly want to play nice in a raid.  He wasn’t concerned overly with which spot he guarded and nodded acceptingly to Onyx suggestion and to Manea’s words.  “Our allies aren’t going to be practice raiding us at the same time?  If someone comes to attack we can assume they are true enemies?”  Kichi wanted to make sure if an enemy did present itself he wasn’t supposed to play nice with someone whose intent might be to do true harm.

Coming up from behind Torch joined the trio.  The little water deer had let himself get distracted but was now ready to assist in guard duty.  It was questionable at times if it realized what species it was.  The small deer barked to offer its support.

"Kichi"

Onyx didn't say much to Manea's comment, just agreeing to what she had said really. Onyx looked up at Kichi as he spoke too, but raised a brow at Manea for her to answer the question. She assumed any rando wolves walking up to the borders wouldn't be friendly, or at least something Manea would be taking care of if they wanted to join ranks or something of the sort. It wasn't her problem until they intruded.

"If you see a predator come through, call out. Smarter to work in group as fun as the fight might be." Group work... funny to her. But here she was. She could at least play nice, do what needed to be done. Jump around and begging for friends wasn't her forte though. That probably wouldn't have come as a surprise. "Come on." She asked quietly, rolling her shoulders and dropping her skull helmet down before heading the the shoreline of Firefly Lake where they walk the perimeter and leave Kichi for the time being.

Manea's gaze shifted to Kichi as he questioned whether they might have another ally raiding them at the same time, confirming that any attackers they saw would be real threats. She nodded in agreement to confirm the notion, replying, "Correct. We don't have any other raids currently planned with our allies and I certainly wouldn't expect them to attack without some sort of notice. Anyone or anything we encounter is certainly a real threat if they come with hostility." Of course she left it open enough to account for the chance visitor or someone that might happen to come looking for a new home. Friendly visitors wouldn't be a problem, but perhaps would be treated with a bit more suspicion and caution while the large majority of their pack was away.

Shifting her attention back to Onyx, she nodded to the blue-hued woman's instruction to call out if they spotted a predator before she fell in beside her as they began their patrol in earnest. Her aqua gaze scanned the landscape around them, following the scent-marked border around to where their lands connected to the land around the Firefly Lake. There was a slight pause in her steps at one point as a bit of movement off in the trees caught her attention, but it turned out to simply be a few birds that were taking flight. With a soft hum she continued on, glancing up and signaling one of her ravens to do a wider loop to get a broader view of the lands around them just in case.
