By now Twig was rather round for her thin and small frame, evidence of the life bustling within her. She made it through to the end, her care and determination brought both her and Corvus to this moment. Worry and nerves were deep seated within her, but she had come this far the last little effort would be overcome as well. It was very early in the morning when she felt the changes in her body, the time had come to labor and deliver their young.

She didn’t quite open her purple gaze yet, she lay silently there in the den, snuggled up with husband and in the plush furs of their bed. Quite aware of the rolling of her belly as her body and the puppies began to shift position for birth. Twig groaned lightly and found herself involuntarily shifting as discomfort began to take over. She didn’t want to disturb Corvus too early, but more than anything she needed his love and support. So she moved again, this time wrapping her arms around his neck as she sought his strength and comfort.

This time, things would be different. Though Corvus was afraid he knew he had to be strong for them both, knew that excessive worrying would only stress Twig out further. This time had to be different. They were both well-prepared for what was to come, even more so now that they'd already gone through this one, and this time they were even more careful. Not quite to the point of obsession, but certainly nearing that point.

He didn't sleep soundly these days at all, well aware that the day Twig would be giving birth was soon approaching. Feeling her stir beside him even slightly was enough to rouse him from his light sleep, though he jolted completely awake when he felt her leaning into him for comfort. "You okay?" The man mumbled softly as he pulled himself upright, wondering if now indeed was the moment they'd been preparing for.

Twig leaned into him and felt her husband jolt awake as she clung to his neck. His soft voice tickled his ear as he sought after her well being. Twig was groggy, but stirring in her body was swiftly pulling her to wakefulness. She groaned softly, blinking back a bit of pain as she went through a small contraction. Slowly her body worked the puppies into position. "For now.” She answered with a similar quietness and awe. They had finally made it. For so long Twig never thought that this day would come, and yet here they were, about to welcome their children into the world.

"Are you ready?” She asked nervously. "Today is the day.” She added, trying to keep herself calm. They were almost there, but complications could still occur. She was older, she was very heavily pregnant, and nothing in life was ever guaranteed. Before she knew it, and far before she was ready, another contraction pulsed through her. This one much more intense and guiding as she entered real labor. This pain would be repeated many times before they greeted their first child.

Nothing could wake him up quite as quickly as this, apparently. Concern flooded him even as Twig said she was okay, suddenly on high alert. He knew of only one healer in the pack that could possibly assist them if they needed, and he'd keep Alarr in mind, hoping he was nearby if he ended up being needed. For now that he'd see how things progressed without any help, noting that the contractions were starting and would only intensify as time went on.

"As ready as I'll ever be," he admitted with a smile, hoping it masked his own nervousness. Corvus had heard the old saying that no one was ever really ready to have kids, and he knew he was the same. He knew more than anything that he and Twig would be incredible parents once they figured things out though. He breathed a somewhat shaky sigh as he helped steady her and the whole process began.

Only when he heard the cries of their first born did he feel like he could begin to breathe again. This was real, it was happening, and things were miraculously going exactly how they were supposed to.
