It’s good to visit your old home sometimes.  The thought had been what lead Kotori to the plains.  Now it was the bear that was facing Kotori that assured him it had been a great idea.  The two snarled at each other and while the bear’s teeth certainly were larger, Kotori had no doubt who the victor would be.  The large wolf charged the even larger bear, attempting to spin around and get to a back leg.  This devolved into the two circling each other before Kotori finally got the bite in he wanted.  It was still springtime and apparently, this one was still hungry and feisty.  It’s what made a proper fun bear to kill.

Kotori couldn’t keep his teeth in the flesh long a the bear’s beefy paw swiped out with claws more than capable of gutting a wolf.  Letting go of the leg Kotori dodged the claw, biting the bear’s arm as it was still held aloft.  Yup, that made it angry.

"Kotori Fatalis"

These trips westward from Ashen’s home always seemed to be eventful and today was no exception. It also seemed that he always managed to cross paths with the Valta alpha which he wasn’t sure what kind of twist of fate that was, but he certainly didn’t mind. As he struck out across the plains, the sound of growling and fighting reached his ears and he of course turned to jog toward the sound, interested to see if his encounters with predators would continue. Sure enough, he spotted the bear first shortly followed by Kotori’s spotted form. He wasted no time darting in to join the fight, getting in a quick bite on the bear’s thigh before it noticed him and he had to bounce back out of the way to avoid the angry bear’s claws.

"Remus Armada"

Kotori bit the bear’s front arm, the bear jerking its paw up higher, and Kotori moved his head and shoulders to follow it.  Two things happened at about the same time.  The bear’s other paw came out as if to try and slash Kotori’s chest.  Even as the wolf let go to dodge the bear stopped its attack to roar in agitation and turn about as Remus attacked him.

The bear didn’t seem to care for being surprised and foolishly forgot Kotori for a second.  Probably wouldn’t have been longer than a second even if Kotori did nothing but they’d never find out.  The horned wolf was beside the bear’s back left leg in a stride.  Kotori lowered his head, slamming his horns into its thigh, jerking up to slash through its meaty flesh, biting into the wound he’d just created.  Needless to say, the bear remembered Kotori.

"Kotori Fatalis"

He only had the bear's full attention for a moment before Kotori struck and pulled the bear's anger away again with a slash of his horns into the bear's thigh. It gave Remus plenty of opening to make another attack of his own and as the bear refocused on Kotori and aimed it's defensive swipes at the earthen-hued male Remus dipped his head down to grab his dagger that was strapped to the inner part of his foreleg. With the weapon clasped between his teeth, Remus swung the pointed end of the dagger into the bear's hip, stabbing right where the joint would be and singing the blade past the ursine's thick hide and into the flesh underneath. The bear roared in pain and tried to rear up as it turned back toward him, but the dagger that was now embedded in its hip staggered him, the sharp blade only cutting deeper the more it moved. It started trying to twist around to reach the blade, ignoring the two wolves for a moment in its frantic attempt to free itself of the dagger.

"Remus Armada"

The bear was really struggling after Remus's last attack.  Kotori wasn’t in a good spot to see that Remus had left the dagger embedded in the beast but there was no doubt he’d given it a solid wound that had the bear off balance and its priorities jumbled.  The bear’s head was twisted, looking away from Kotori and giving the wolf far too nice of an opening to bite in the neck to just ignore it.

Kotori stepped in, teeth snapping into the neck, getting mostly fur and flesh.  Surprisingly the bear wasn’t reacting fast enough to stop Kotori from letting go and biting once more, deeper this time to get into the neck muscles, the pleasant taste of blood in his mouth and sliding down the bear's dense neck fur.

"Kotori Fatalis"

It wasn't more than a moment later when he noticed that Kotori was taking advantage of the bear's panic over the dagger stuck in its hip to go for its neck, earning a pained bellow from the ursine in response. It seemed to be torn between continuing to try and get to the dagger or turning its attention to the wolf biting its neck, but either way it wasn't going to survive for much longer and if the way it was acting was any indication Remus was pretty sure it already knew that. As it was flailing in its futile attempts to get away, Remus shifted to run up from behind the bear, grabbing the dagger to yank it free of its hip and then lunging forward to drive the blade into the base of the bear's neck in the same motion. That was the last blow they needed to make the bear spasm and stumble, struggling for a few more moments between the two large wolves before it finally gave up, crumpling to the ground between them. Another successful fight and one less bear to risk running into later.
