killing strangers
Freedom Challenge! Oh boy!
The familiar bird had brought the news that morning. His mother was dead, slaughtered trying to protect one of his siblings. And where had Viscera been? Trapped in these wretched tar pits, a captive to a woman he'd sooner see drowned in the stinking muck all around than upon his mother's throne. He sharpened his talons, cleaned the debris from his fur. As he loped towards the boundary between the reeking territory and its neighbouring pristine meadow, he felt and looked every inch the Klein prince he once was. More now, having grown into his once lanky limbs and filling out with corded muscle. A proper heir for the empire that had been stolen away from his beloved mother.
He wanted the advantage of his full sight, so he'd waited until nightfall. The last vestiges of twilight left the western horizon with all the pigments of a fresh bruise, and the eastern sky glittered with the cold indifference of stars. Only the faint sliver of a waxing crescent moon began to climb towards the heavens, barely enough to see by. Yet here he stood, turning his back to the tar pits and towards freedom. The slate marked brute tipped back his skull and loosed a howl, demanding Medusa show herself. He wanted his freedom, and he would take it out on her hide.
Eerie eyes tracked the movements of a few shadowed figures in the distance, wondering if one of them was the slave queen preparing to meet his challenge. His two companions circled around him, keeping an eye on his blind spots for a surprise attack. He flexed his talons in the cool dirt, every muscle in his body quivering with anticipation. Viscera wasn't fully prepared, but he didn't care anymore. He wanted to bury his mother, and he wanted to carve every ounce of his rage into the flesh of her murderer.

Head lifted from her nightly patrol when she heard a call from someone vaguely familiar. She couldn't exactly pinpoint who the voice belonged to considering it was likely someone she had rarely spoken to if at all, but the intent behind the call was clear. One of Recluse's brats was finally challenging for their freedom. What took 'em so long? Eraithus had been the only one so far, but had failed in that endeavor. Her pulse quickened and her feet did little tippy taps as the excitement and the prospect of a hopefully good fight triggered her response. Seymour came flying towards her, croaking to her that Viscera was waiting for her in the Pits. The Wraith wasted no time in making her way there, eager for a fight. She had given the Curses ample time to challenge for their freedom or ask what other avenues they could go down to be set free. Hell, even one from Recluse's youngest litter had offered himself to her for two years in exchange for the freedom of his littermates. She wasn't as cruel as others seemed to think. After all, she had accepted Enki's offer. And she would keep to her word once time was up. But hey, if they wanted a fight, she'd let them have that if that was the course they so chose. She approached the Pits, a cackling laughter in her throat as her tail waved behind her with all the audacity of a puppy about to play. Dual-toned eyes laid upon the striped form of an almost Recluse lookalike. She approached at the front, though she wasn't above surprise attacks either, she figured she'd give him the opportunity to strike first since he wanted to go so bad. "Aw, he wants to go already! That is fine, Medusa will fight you for it!" She flexed her claws into the ground, shaking her body, causing the bones she wore to rattle around as she waited for him to strike. Of course, she didn't yet know that Recluse was dead. If she had known, she'd probably be dancing by now. Medusa vs Viscera for Anti-Freedom? As her mate and *ahem* protective detail, Erebos may crash her threads at anytime!
Please note: Medusa is a wildcard! While she is mostly kind, friendly, and eager to help, she can equally be cold, aggressive, and eager to murder you depending on how you treat her! She refers to herself and often, others, in the third person (illeism), and occasionally has tics due to her Tourette's and may giggle and laugh at random, and may twitch here and there. She is a blood & gore type of character, and is not above killing, maiming, or other such violent actions if she's given a reason to do so. It's often in your best interest to not cross her or get on her bad side. Ya never know what she might do c:
When a dark figure began to cut across the grasslands, he knew it was the sick queen before she'd even gotten properly into earshot. Gleefully cackling like a hyena all the way, and clinking softly as her bone armour rattled against her thin frame. Who else would it have been? A growl rumbled in his chest, watching the tall grasses begin to shudder and flick as she drew closer. At least she had the decency to meet him face to face before they went at one another's throats. When her ivory marked form finally broke through the cover of the tall grasses, the prince's handsome features twisted into a scowl. Cherry red lips peeled away from his fangs when she spoke, a giggling admission that was equal parts disappointment and delight. There was a brief flash of hesitation, a second thought- kill her. Quickly overturned in the name of urgency, of getting the fuck out of here and finding Galho again.
He held his skull aloft as he watched her settle into a loose fighting stance, shaking her body and letting her armour settle comfortably. Toes spread apart and gripping the hard earth beneath them. Viscera couldn't help but remember that this was the woman who had bested his mother in battle, and defeated her mate within the following weeks. Nothing to sniff at. She'd probably leave him a bloody mess, even if he won this fight.
***fight starts here***
Rather than waste time, he settled himself. Loosened his joints up, folded his ears against his skull, and bared his fangs. Ivory tipped tail flagged parallel to his spine for balance as he shoved off with his hind legs, closing the distance between himself and Medusa. This was going to be a bloodbath if he had any say in it. His weight would shift to his right as he got close enough to strike, aiming to create some leverage as he tried to launch himself into Medusa's left side. Viscera's pale jaws parted to reveal flashing ivories, drool flying as he lowered his head and sought to sink his teeth into the left side of her neck- just behind her jaw. He wanted control of her head, and he wanted to feel her blood pumping under his tongue. If he could gain a grip on her neck, the pallid prince hoped he could give her a good shake and disorient the bitch. The pull of her flesh against his teeth would likely cause some tearing of the flesh, drawing even more blood from her neck to stain his pale jowls.

He began to prepare himself for a fight shortly after her arrival. As he prepared, she did the same though a little less so. Did she ever really have a plan of attack? Not really. She seldom thought about her next action. Fight or otherwise. She was a feral fighter, giving it her all and holding nothing back. Especially when it came to others wanting to really hurt her. When it came to less serious fights, she was still vicious, but she wasn't looking to incapacitate her opponents in those sorts of fights. Just something to remember her by. He charged towards her, sending Medusa into a fit of laughter as a Cheshire grin promptly spread across her lips. He launched himself toward her left, dual toned gaze catching the sparkle of his teeth coming at her flesh. The masked Wraith readied herself, claws biting the earth for traction as she suddenly moved. She feigned meeting him head on, but instead dropped to the ground in a mock play bow. His teeth would instead glance off her skull own skull (barely missing the skull that she wore), leaving minor lacerations. Within a heartbeat, she launched herself up, seeking to bash the underside of his jaw with the top of her head. With luck, she'd slam his own jaws together and probably catch his tongue. Simultanesouly, she reached forward with her left forepaw, looking to score her sharpened claws down his foreleg in the hopes of tearing the thin skin and letting the blood flow. If he wanted a bloodbath, she'd offer him one soon enough. True to form, she was chaotic and vicious. Just before his teeth would make contact with her neck, the bitch dropped into a mocking play bow. The sharp taste of blood on his tongue as his teeth grazed the thin skin just behind her jaw and then snapped shut on open air. In a split second, she bounced right back up and bashed the top of her skull into the underside of his jaw, the impact rattling through his head and neck enough to make his ears ring for a minute. The involuntary groan he released morphed into a snarl, and he lifted a taloned forepaw to slam it down atop her toes. Seemed like Medusa had the same idea, so when she lifted one paw to rake her claw guards against that same foreleg, they managed to score through the thin skin just above his wrist.
Trying to maintain some of the momentum of his left foreleg's upwards swing as blood began to flow forth in rivulets, the pale giant gritted his teeth against the pain and he sought to curl his left foreleg beneath Medusa's body and grip her left elbow from beneath her body. Those long talons could hook deep into the thin skin, perhaps find purchase against the joint. As he sought for his grip on her leg, the young male would lunge forth from their already close quarters. This would hurt both of them, certainly. Pushing off with strong hind limbs, the slate dappled prince aimed to slam the bony upper edge of his rib cage into her left shoulder. If he could maintain a hold on that same leg just long enough, perhaps he could unbalance her- knock her over. That would lend the upper hand, even for only a few seconds. This was already a long shot, a losing battle between a seasoned and deadly fighter and an angry, ill equipped youth. Morticia, the dark furred feline, tried to rush forth in a moment of desperation and claw at Medusa's right hind leg. She was smaller than the queen's companions, liable to be caught and cornered by the animals that aided Medusa to avoid further interference. The gesture was appreciated, regardless.

Her usual go to move had succeeded. She had bashed the underside of his jaw with the top of her head, a burst of cackling laughter let loose as she heard his groan of pain and she was sure he'd feel that in the morning! That certainly made up for the nick she had gotten from his teeth, but surely she'd rip him up far worse then he'd get her. Maybe. She didn't know! However, while one paw went up to slice him up, his paw came down to slam her toes. She yelped in surprise and mild pain when his paw connected, and she felt the tip of a talon jab into the top of her paw, but she simply snarled and pushed through the pain, the adrenaline numbing it for the time being. That wouldn't last long, however, as they played handsies, she didn't quite notice his foreleg coming at her for a grapple. Not until she felt his talons once again, digging into her just beneath her elbow. She snarled this time, further trying to ignore the pain and then decided to throw him off his game a bit. Her snarls quickly turned into a witches cackle. The kind that would send the creeps running down your spine. "Medusa likes the way you play!" She remarked as they wrestled. She felt herself tipping over, and she knew she was going down. She wasn't heavy by any means, so she'd use her legginess and slim figure to her advantage. As Viscera began to push her over, Medusa's jaws snapped open and sought to grab wherever she could reach. His neck. His face. His ear. Whatever she could grab onto and hopefully, grab it hard enough to tear whatever she managed to get as well as cause him to unbalance if not tip him down with her. She let herself go to the ground before ripping herself from his talons (blood be damned!) and twisted onto her back as she went. Hind legs were cocked and ready, and in one swift motion aimed to kick her hind legs into his body as hard as she possibly could in an attempt to send him sailing over her. As for the companion? With her legs out of the way and three sets of eyes on the fight, her bigger cat ran in to help throw Viscera to the ground via seeking to slam her own weight into the larger male, and the vulture swooped down, claws extended in an attempt to snag the cat off the ground and take it along for a ride. When the dust began to settle, Medusa conceded the fight. She could feel the bleeding wound where Viscera's talons had been torn away, and the Wraith shook herself as she stood. "Medusa submits. Viscera wins. He is free," She states as she settles on her haunches to take at least a little of the weight off her stinging limbs. "Viscera fought good! Medusa hopes to do it again!" She winked at him before motioning for him to go. He had put up a pretty good fight. He definitely earned it.
