Tears stung at the back of her eyes but already she was too proud to run to mamma for help. So she had decided to take her mind off it by heading further from home, down towards the sound of crashing waves where sea birds wheeled in wide circles on updrafts overhead. Although the smell of salt was overbearing, at least she could use the wind as an excuse to cover up the way her eyes watered. Another familiar scent came to her on the breeze and she turned her head to try and find the brother it belonged to.
Was he somewhere in the mangroves?
He hadn't been stalking his sister for long before she seemingly began to catch on. It appeared as if she'd caught a scent on the wind, likely his own. Her head swiveled as she attempted to locate something, probably the source of whatever it had been that she smelled, meaning she'd been looking for him. Aw, no fun. How was he going to give her a spook now? He stood completely still, as if that would somehow prevent the fae from catching a glimpse of his vivid blue frame against the contrast of the surrounding landscape.

The sun and the wind coupled with her watery eyes left the terrain blurry, and her eyes skimmed right over Véi before she turned back towards the sheltered bay. Her nose dropped back to the sand and she snuffled this way and that, stopping to chew on a leaf for a moment and not picking up anything extra in it, before moving onto a twig. A strange cacophonous noise overhead had her staring into the sun again to squint at the noisy white birds. Her head canted one way, and then the other as she moved closer to the edge of the water. There was something big in there, just below the surface, and she wondered whether it might be a monster like she was?
"speech"As far as the pup could tell he'd somehow managed to stay under the radar, even with his sister's attempts at locating him. Spooking wasn't off the table yet it seemed, excellent. Or rather it would have been, but every time Morg found herself distracted with something he too got distracted trying to make sure he didn't feel left out.
If she chewed a leaf or a stick so did he, if she took a moment to observe the birds overhead then guess what he did? And then it appeared as if the young fae spotted something from within the water, and so she began making her way towards whatever treasure lied there. Forget the scare. Véi wanted to see what she was seeing. He picked up the pace, no longer worrying about stealth, until eventually he closed the distance enough to prod his kin with his wet nose.

A wet nose buried between the quills on her hip was unexpected but not unwelcome. She was mindful of her waving tail, hoping to not spike her sibling with it's waving as she turned her head to see who had come to join her. "Véi, lookit!" She turned her nose back to the pale form floating closer to the shore. It didn't cut through the water like a knife, it just kinda... blobbed. It's fat pale form and short stubby fins barely moving as it's cow-like snout seemed to graze at the seagrass below.
Morganna inched closer, her toes getting wet as little fishes skittered into the roots of the mangroves to seek shelter. The distant crashing of waves seemed a world away as she observed the monster with the sort of focus only a child could muster. "Whatsit?" Her nose was growing dangerously close to the surface of the water and the boxlike head lifted to peer back at her, nostrils lifting above the waves to blow a stream of mist into her face. The girl screamed and giggled as she backpedaled, eyes squinted closed against the salt spray. The tangle of her own limbs (and maybe her brothers) had her rear end planted in the water and the sand.
