He stood in the doorway for a moment. His yellow goat-like eyes trained on the crumpled mass of fur and booze that lay upon the floor. There may have been some blood mixed in there too but he wasn’t necessarily focused on that part. Ever since Eden had mysteriously disappeared, things had slowly begun to go downhill for the Pirates. Their Pirate King had messed up her relationship with ol’ Hana-hoe, they kept losing raids (except for that one time they smashed Armada), Eden was gone with only so much as a trail of blood with no scent to follow, and now that fugitive Recluse had gone and died too. The man had never seen Sparrow is such disarray. Over the time he had come to be a Pirate, he always knew her as strong and confident with a flair for the dramatics. Of course, now as he looked upon her sleeping figure, he realized he considered her like a sister. It would be stupid of him to think she didn’t have feelings, didn’t have complications that she hid behind closed doors, that her bravado in front of the pack was merely a facade. He understood more clearly now than ever before as he stepped into her quarters and moved to lay beside her.

I won’t leave you behind, but someone has to start picking up the pieces,” his deep rumble of a voice was but a soft murmur in her ear. It was not often that Gilgamesh spoke with sympathy, but today would be one of those few and far between moments. Unlike his feelings toward males, females always held a sort of soft spot in his heart. To witness her so dejected made his tiny shriveled heart feel pain, if only for a moment. “There are packs to be raided, treasures to be taken, and yearlings to whip into shape,” Gil continued as he lifted his chin and laid it over her shoulders to help comfort her. Though he knew Sparrow would probably prefer the comfort of a woman during these moments, he figured maybe some brotherly tough love would help as well. “I see potential in our offspring. They are willing, they have spunk, but they need direction. My plan is to move everyone out to that abandoned structure where we can focus on training. You can stay here to heal and come find us later or I’ll have Ignis and Modesty drag your face through the sand for a wake up call,” he chuckled before ruffling her scruff with his nose.

Gil would slide away at that moment and roll up onto all four paws. He felt the ache of old injuries in his bones and wondered if he should find a healer one of these days. A good one to keep around. Turning to head out of the ship, he stopped in the doorway one last time. “You will always be the Pirate King,” his whisper died on a raspy breath as he closed his eyes and told himself to stay strong and buck up. If Sparrow were to look up at him, she might notice a bit of wetness around his eyes but one could never be too sure.

As he moved from the doorway and shut the door behind him, he stood up tall and pushed his chest out a little farther. Today would be the day he ascended into greatness and took on the roll that he had had his eye on for awhile. If it had not been for Sparrow and her fearless leadership, he probably would have challenged her for it by now. Feeling as ready as he ever would be, he looked out from the ship’s marooned port toward the opening of Time’s Cavern. Morning light was just beginning to cascade from the top of the opening and light up what few glass windows the ship had left.

Moving slowly, he stopped at his own room first and peeked his head in. Approaching his own wife (well, they would make official one day), he placed a tender kiss on the top of her head. “Want to watch me become a King?” He murmured in her ear before giving it a playful tug. Without waiting for her to stir, Gil turned and slipped from their chambers. Taking no more time, he traveled the path out onto the deck and stood at the hull. Tipping his mottled head back with his lips facing the sparkling cavern ceiling, he released a howl for all those that called themselves Pirates. “You won’t want to miss out on today!” Gil yelled out to the ship to start waking those that would want to watch him take Sparrow’s place. It was still early and while he was sure most were probably hung over and sleeping, he knew they would rustle out of their stupors to go out onto the beach for something like this. If only Pyralis could be here to see it.

With an almost somber feeling in his chest, Gil moved himself down the gangplank that was attached to the side of the ship onto the fine sand of the cavern’s floor. The path was natural to him. This place was home to them and had been for awhile. The move would be good. It would be refreshing - especially for the young ones who needed a change of pace. While he could almost move about the cavern with his eyes closed, he didn’t today. His gaze was firmly set on the beach as he approached the cavern’s opening. Sand stuck to his toes as he made his way out into the morning light. Summer was upon them and finally the rays that cast down over the blackened sand was warm and welcoming. A perfect day to stake a claim!

He walked with ease. There was no hurry to his steps as he made his way to the spot where they usually congregated for meetings. It was the place Azure had come to savagely tear their pack apart. The place where the yearlings had had their first birthdays. Where they had discussed who to raid next. It was an important spot for the Pirates and this would be the last time they meet here. Embracing the oceanic wind that ruffled his fur, Gil stood in the middle of the meeting area and turned around in a circle to take in the sights. He wanted to remember this beach, the cavern, the ship, all of the Pirate’s lands for what it was before their next chapter started. Tiny sea birds skittered across the wet sand as a wave rolled out. Little pockets of air and water bubbled along the shore as foam-capped waves washed away the various sea life. Toward the other side, tall grass bent over in a sort of hello as small rodents poked their heads out of their holes. Gil would miss all of it and he couldn’t deny the heavy feeling in his chest.

There was no more time to waste! As soon as word got out that Sparrow no longer controlled the Pirates, he was certain other wolves would descend upon the opportunity. If he wanted a chance at his rightful position, he would have to take it now. Once more lifting his chin to the sky, Gil let loose a beckoning howl. There was a commanding tone to it as he allowed his vocals to rise in volume to heights they had never quite reached before. He wanted anyone and everyone to hear this. Pirate’s Plunder was no more and he was here to take over. With the morning sunrise at his back and the ocean water lapping at his toes, he lowered his chin and looked around. It would be the waiting game now. Waiting for challengers, waiting for other alphas, waiting for the rest of the Pirates to rustle from their slumber. They would come. To balk, to celebrate, to attack, it didn’t matter. He would be ready and waiting.

There had been a heaviness in the air that was entirely un-piratelike lately. Not that Modesty thought to, like, actually go out and stick her nose in other people's business. When Gil had left, she assumed he was off to do big sin things, and once she got this last tangle out of her extra-long tail fur, she would find something to amuse herself with for the day, maybe she'd go and track down the small brown one and see if he wanted to help her gather some less-than-medicinal plants...

But her fiancé was back before she was done, and the words that left his lips caused her brow to raise, before being chased away with a smirk. If nothing else, it might make for a good show, the tug to her tufted ear was all the motivation she needed to get up on her feet and follow on her chosen mates heels, wondering how the rest of the Pirates might take it, or if there would be any challengers from outside. While Gil took center stage, Modesty sat off to the side, wondering if any of their fellow pirates would join them.

Rivin had thought about leaving, she wouldn't deny that. But that was the easy way out, wasn't it? Giving up. The yearling had thought about her options and even spoke to her companions about what they should do, weighing pros and cons. The truth was that while Rivin did not completely feel happy with the pack she felt she could put more effort in on her end to be more happy. And after the day she had with Calico Jack, a wolf she felt she could safely call her best friend and the only wolf she'd trust outside her kin with having her back, she knew she couldn't just walk away. Walking away from the pack meant walking away from Jack and she wouldn't do that.

But things had grown quiet. Maybe Sparrow had gotten herself into a spot? Rivin didn't know. She knew that the woman favored alcohol, and even the yearling herself found the burn and warmth of the drink interesting. But when she heard Gil calling for the pack, calling in the manner of an alpha, she was intrigued. Ears would perk and Rivin motioned for her companions to follow.

She'd find him and his mate on the beach, Gilgamesh standing ready to take his place as a king. Rivin quirked a brow. Was Sparrow really in such a spot she couldn't lead them anymore? Still… Rivin would sit, curling her tail around her toes. "Curious to hear what is going down. You're becoming our leader now?" There was no malice or disgust in her voice, just interest. She noticed Jack wasn't here yet either. He'd show up though… right?

Rivin has two companions - a bobcat and a wolverine. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.

Calico Jack is late. Legs churn as he races through the flower studded land, moving as swiftly as he can back into Pirate’s land. When Gil’s call to the pack about the change in leadership had reached his ears, the boy had been out in the gulley doing… manly things. Truthfully, he had been picking some beautiful red poppies that reminded him of his friend Rivin’s fiery markings. He had been planning to present them to her but, at the curious sound of Gilgamesh’s call for the assembly, the patchwork-colored pup had abandoned his quest… for now.

As he goes, worry needles his brain as he cannot help but wonder if something bad has happened to his mother. Sure, Sparrow has been drinking more than usual lately and it seems that she is more drunk than sober nowadays but he still cares about her. Sparrow is a lot of things to a lot of people but to Cal, she will always be, first and foremost, his mother. While there is a myriad of feelings that come along with that word, the boy realizes he does not wish anything bad to happen to her… ever.

Pale paws hit the black sand of the familiar beach but he does not slow his frantic race until he lays eyes on the meeting area. Slowing to a trot, he moves closer and spies Gilgamesh standing in the middle of the area, tall, regal, ready to lead, and looking like he won’t take any shit from anyone. A grin graces his lips as he dips his head in greeting to his and his mate who is sitting off to the side. Shooting the man a wink, Calico spies Rivin and angles over toward her.

Trotting happily up to her, Jack pulls to stop beside and gives her a friendly nudge of greeting. Casting his icy-hued gaze to Gil, anxiety still tugging at his mind, the boy works hard to keep his words light and attitude carefree as he joyfully says, “Hey ya Gil! Taking over ‘eh? I guess I’ll follow you.” A short laugh is offered before he makes a big show of stretching and flopping down beside Rivin. Looking up at her and lifting a brow he asks her, “You’re comin’ too… right?” She is his best friend and Calico Jack suddenly realizes that, if she doesn’t come along, he isn’t sure what he will do.

Honestly Flurry probably should have been paying more attention lately, but she was kind of off in her own world right now. She had big plans, wanted to go out there and do chaos but she wasn't sure she really knew how, so she'd spent most of her time day dreaming lately. It wasn't like she was totally oblivious, she knew that pale woman who'd brought her brats had died and the king didn't exactly seem to be taking it well but she just assumed Sparrow would bounce back...

Apparently she assumed wrong, there was a definitive tone to her father's call, and she cocked her head to the side before getting herself untangled from her position and going to meet him. It wasn't that Flurry couldn't leave, she simply saw no reason to. It was easier to stay, it gave her the luxury to fuck about and she valued that more than striking it out on her own. So she was clear in her position when she arrived, she said  othing but moved to stand next to her father  practically beaming up at him, leaving space to give him the spotlight still and make it clear she wasn't counting herself as his equal... Yet.

After their last meeting, they had never received official word on who they were going to scout. Of course, Aresenn had gone to tour the hallows on his own, but upon his return … things felt different. Of course, he hadn’t interacted with her directly, though it seemed that Sparrow had surrendered to grief. There had been a lot of loss in his short life.

Ever since the meeting he had with his older brother, things had felt different. He wanted to blame the change on the Pirates as a whole. But perhaps it was he who had changed as well. His father plainly stated that he expected better of his children than the haphazard nature of their pack … and that had resonated with him fairly deep. He expected better of himself. While he wasn’t a model perfectionist, there was quite a bit that had left him with feelings of frustration. Maybe that was his gift taking over. Nonetheless, he had adapted into a catalyst for change. And as things continued to trail off … it seemed that he wasn’t the only one who had done so.

It wasn’t Sparrow who called this gathering, but Gilgamesh. He called out for the assembly and assured them that no one would want to miss out, though Aresenn clearly did. Begrudgingly, he headed out to the beach to witness the Unholy Sin stake his claim to leadership. The Praetor boy harbored no ill feeling towards the man’s intentions. And as he spotted his Sister and Calico Jack sitting together, he would drift their way. As he passed Jack to veer toward’s Rivin’s opposite side, he hesitated. Offering a half-sided grin to the other boy before tilting his head in silent farewell. He wasn’t much for goodbyes. Continuing on to his sister, he leaned in close, whispering near her ear. “I’ll find you later,” Aresenn assured her. That was going to require a conversation, and he didn’t want to ruin Gil’s claim.

With a final look over his shoulder toward the new call to leadership, he offered one last nod, before moving to leave the beach. Whatever Pirates Plunder was getting ready to become, he was certain that it was in everyone’s best interest that he split off on his own now.

GILGAMESH

Gil was pleased that his not-wife (were titles really that important) showed up first. His gaze flitted over to her momentarily as he felt his heart flutter. Damn, he really was a sucker for her, wasn't he? Truly, Modesty was his only downfall. His kryptonite. If anything ever happened to her, there would be hell to pay. Then more would trickle in. An amused chuckle left his lips as Rivin questioned if he was becoming their leader. "You could say that," he replied as his attention was drawn to the approach of Calico Jack racing in. A brow lifted in the patchy boy's direction as he smiled. "I won't force your paw," Gil tossed back to the boy before his attention was once more turned to someone else. His eyes brightened ever so slightly as Flurry approached to stand beside him. Her beaming expression made him proud. Though one might say they could see what was brewing inside of her, Gil chose not to care. At least one of his offspring had decided to show up today.

Before he could say much of anything to Flurry, his attention was drawn to the skulking of Ignis' broodiest boy. Curiosity flickered across Gil as a nod was tossed in his direction but not much else. Lowering his brow into a furrowed squint, he wondered if he should stop the boy. If he took Aresenn under his wing and nurtured the good that was hiding, maybe he could churn him out into something worthy of keeping around. Yet, as he stood and looked at Flurry, Rivin, Calico Jack, and even Scald who lingered off to the side, there was plenty of young hope ready and willing right in front of him. "When you're ready to come home, we'll be waiting," Gil called out to Aresenn before giving his head a soft shake and turning his attention once more back to the group. He knew Sparrow would probably not show - she was still in bad sorts and he wouldn't blame her. They would go get her later if need be, whether she wanted it or not. Ignis and Ares were probably still passed out drunk which was fine too - he knew the men would follow anyway. As for the rest of their offspring, he wondered where Sparrow's other kids were. Kashi they hadn't even seen since the raid on Tojo, Ajax was probably off drowning himself or something, and he thought he had seen Sakana wandering around. Deluge wasn't to be seen either which was fishy considering she had dragged his own self back here recently. Either way, Gil would work with what he had!

"I will not beat around the bush. Sparrow needs a break. She'll be okay, but she needs some time to figure her own shit out first. That being said, I'm not Sparrow and I don't want to take everything she ever gave us so from this point on, we will be known as The Raider's Hollow. For those who stay, you will now be Raiders, not Pirates. We will function under new ranks, but everything else will be pretty much the same. We will raid as often as we can and in the spirit of good fun, we will try not to piss anyone off too much," there was an emphasis on that part since he was a culprit of pissing off others. "If you would like a rank that is above a generic Raider, speak now or forever hold your peace. I will be offering fighting lessons and trying to accommodate other skills as well, but I would like to find us a good healer. If any of you would like to step up and take charge of that, please do. If not, I will be searching for one. But before that happens, I have one last thing. Pack your bags, we're moving," Gil grins as he looks at the ragtag group of once Pirates now turned Raiders. He hoped they liked his idea and would stick around to see out his ideas and what he had planned for them.

Well, Gil's assumption of the red bastard was correct. He had drunk too much the night before and his head was now swimming and pounding with a fierce headache. The crimson demon rolled onto his side as Gil's howl split the air, and it took him a good while to figure out what the hell that call was for. "Power." He would whisper. Ignis' eyes blinked open, squinting through the light that dared stream into his den. Why the fuck was everything so goddamn bright? And why the hell had he gotten piss drunk and now dealing with an ungodly hangover? "What the fuck happened last night...?" He groaned as he rose on unsteady paws. He didn't even remember drinking last night...in fact, he couldn't even remember what the hell he'd done the day before. He groaned again as he swayed in place, and moments later, he puked where he stood. Whatever he'd done, it wasn't sitting well with him.

Also, what was that strange cackling echo in his head? A memory? "You don't remember. I'll tell you later. But we had good fun with the Skeleton Woman." The voice drawled. Who? Ignis groaned and wiped his muzzle clean, moving to drink before stumbling his way toward Gil.

He was late as fuck, but arrived somewhat in time to see Aresenn heading away from the group, Diablo arriving, and Rivin already there. He watched his son leaving, had half a mind to go after him, but decided to see what this was about first. He'd find Aresenn later. Ignis settled onto the ground as soon as he got there, catching Gil's words as he did so. His good ear perked as he tried to make sense of what was going on, and then it dawned on him. Sparrow appeared incapacitated in some way. He had been aware of how she had been as of late. Had she finally succumbed far enough that she needed to step down for a while? If there was anyone who had his support beyond Sparrow, it was certainly Gil. Ignis had briefly considered his own pack, but that was something he wasn't even sure about. Not yet, anyway. He listened to the rest of what Gil had to say before speaking up.

"You have my support, of course. If it's not too much to ask, I'd like something similar to what I had under Sparrow." He had earned his rank. And if Gil was willing, he'd like to keep it that way. He squinted as he fought back the urge to just want to die right then and there from whatever had happened the night prior. He wasn't feeling too hot, but his pride refused to show weakness. Or at least, the weakness that he could control, anyway. "With this change, I'll also help to train the others where I can with what's needed." His gaze briefly found Rivin and Diablo. He had thought a lot about their last talk, and he knew he needed to do better by them if they were to succeed.

He was running late. But in his defense, he had been secretly sparring outside of Plunder lands. Away from prying eyes. Couldn't let his dad see that he was actually trying, right? But when Gil called the Pirates together with a purpose, it was a call he couldn't ignore. He'd been pretty lackadaisical in the pack. That much he knew to be true and would admit. But since he received a great deal of...words from his father and it was evident he was very much the disappointing child, Diablo aimed to train as much as he could. He'd show him!

As the midnight boy reached the gathering, he saw Aresenn leaving. He slowed, watching him go, and wondered if he was leaving for good. Frowning, he also spotted his dad arriving and he looked worse for wear. What the hell had he gotten into? Putting on a stoic attitude, he ignored his dad and went straight toward Rivin and Jack. He sat on the other side of his sister, gently pressing his shoulder to her for no reason other than...well...he supposed some comfort for himself. "Where's he going?" He asked, glancing briefly towards Aresenn's retreating form.

He turned his attention to Gil then, listening to the respected Pirate. Ah, so they wouldn't be pirates anymore, but raiders? Well, that sounded like fun. Would there be actual structure? Something to strive for? He didn't think he was yet ready for a rank beyond what he had just reached...so he remained quiet and let the others say what they wanted.

Alright yeah he was piss fucking drunk, but that was expected of him, wasn't it? His kids had just turned a year old. Phoenix so far was the only one that decided to stick around with him after leaving Valhalla, but hadn't officially joined the Pirates quite yet. Ares had allowed Phoenix to try a drink, and the boy had done pretty poor with it. The kid was just as drunk, but at least the older Saxe could still function. Sure he was wobbly on his feet, but hey, there was a meeting to get to! He kicked Phoenix in the rump, a grin on his lips. "Get up Kid, we've got a meeting to go to. Or y'know, if you think this is it for you, then feel free to go, I won't stop ya!" Without waiting for his hungover kid to get up, Ares made his way towards the meeting.

When he arrived, there was...a very small gathering. Not so many Pirates around anymore, eh? His cousin had drunk herself silly and was going through some shit, which honestly? Same Sparrow. Same. He wobbled over to the group and dropped to the ground, rump first, hard. "What red man said. I've got your back, Gil! Oh, and also some cool rank would be nice, too." He winked before a burp escaped. Woops.

Oh...what the hell did he do? He had been bugging his dad to try this alcohol stuff, and now that it was morning, his head was pounding, his mouth was dry, and he felt like complete and utter shit. Not only that, but someone was calling the Pirates together and he found his dads foot kicking his backside! His dad's words made his ears scream, and he tried to figure out what he'd said. Won't stop...what? Meeting? This is it...? He groaned as he struggled to get up. But get up he did, and it felt like he was going to die!

But he made it. He followed his dad, slowly, dry heaving here and there, but at least he made it without incident. The moment he practically walked and crawled to the meeting, he flopped down by his dad and squinted around at those gathered. Well, so much for first introductions! Oh well, his being here was clear that he intended to stick around with his dad. Which meant he was wanting to be part of...whatever the toothy man had said. He wasn't sure. All he knew was that his head was hurting.

Hed always been watching and admiring his father from afar. Sorra admitted hed been a bit distant but what was a young boy to do! Of course he felt jealous over the fact his brother seemed so much closer. Did Ares even know Sorra had decided he wanted to be a pirate. He wasnt much of afghter but he could hunt and watch the stars. He stumbled. Sliding in a few feet away from his kin.

"Da! I had no idea someone was calling the pirates together. I want to come with." He grinned. Showing off the rows of razor sharp teeth in his arsenal. Sorra couldnt wait he had so much eager energy.

Ajax couldn't really say he was overly fond of his pack mates, but he didn't dislike them enough to really kick up a fuss either. If anyone had to take the helm after Sparrow he reckoned it ought to be Gil, though he wouldn't have been surprised if one of Ignis' lot tried to make a grab for the empty spot. They'd lose, since in his mind they weren't good enough fighters to even warrant being put at the bottom of his hit list: aka folks he wanted to fight. Gil on the other paw... Stepping into the meeting, fashionably late, it seemed as though he'd mellowed out. Levelled out, learned how to at least pretend to play nice. To put on a smile, wag his tail a bit and come across as a laid back kinda guy, probably harmless. But not really.

Everyone had a moody teen phase, his just also included drowning adjacent childhood trauma. No one was perfect.

He stepped forward, an easy grin on his face that didn't meet his eyes. Didn't even give them a flicker of life.  "How about we fight right now? Say I win, you make me a harbinger?"

Gilgamesh was pleased when the rest of the pack began to filter in. Even though they were down Aresenn, Kashi, Kaede, Rexx, and probably some others, there was still a good turnout. There were even a few pups he didn’t recognize. As his gaze shifted from Ignis to Ares, he nodded with a humored smile in their direction. ”Of course!” He exclaimed joyfully as his eyes crinkled slightly around the edges. ”Your ranks will reflect what they once were. Just under a different name,” Gil nodded to finalize his decision. The newly claimed king was ready to get the show on the road when a certain someone moved over to him.

When he turned to look back at Ajax, he noticed how the smile didn’t reach his eyes. What had happened to the happy-go-lucky pup he had once known? Either way, Gil was not one to ever turn down a fight. His own smile grows into a smirking grin as he looks the youngster over once more. ”You got a deal, he says as he full faces Ajax to give the boy his full attention. ”I’ll even let you begin,” Gil lifts a paw in Ajax’s direction as his own companions creep closer to get a good look at the show.

Wow how generous.  And yet Ajax grinned all the same, wide and toothy, liked the idea of an audience that he could win and everyone would see. There was a risk he'd lose, there were always going to be risks but the thought of failing excited him even more. Had his heart racing, a spark of feeling in his chest as he moved closer, easy and causal, oversized tail flicking in an attempt of a wag. If having Gil in charge meant more chances to fight, and win or lose, then why not follow him?

They were close now, standing head on with a tension mounting as Ajax savoured his first move. He always liked fighting on beaches, enjoyed how the sand felt between his toes, all soft and squishy. With no word or warning, he hooked his paw and flicked it out, expertly yeeting sand at Gil's face as he kicked into motion, dashing forward as he lunged with snapping teeth. What did he feel like biting today? Muzzle was always fun, cheek too but for one reason or another his eyebrow called out to Ajax. Who expected an eyebrow chomp after all?

Gilgamesh would wait. Those few moments of silence that hung between them seemed to sizzle with electricity. Even as the murmur of the others around them caused his ears to turn, he kept his gaze on the younger wolf. What would Ajax's first move be? Gil thought about this as the tension mounted. Flexing his own toes and rolling his shoulders, he anticipated something aggressive, foolish, and inexperienced. The boy hadn't quite seemed prepared when he had requested a fight for his own title.

Suddenly, sand came flying toward him. He had seen Ajax's paw lift and had expected him to propel into motion. Not some cheap shot to blind him - though he couldn't deny it had been a smart move. Feeling the sear of sand particles digging into his eyes, Gil let out a snarl. Shaking his head violently to try and rid his eyes of the granules, his ears compensated and heard the dull sound of paws diving across the sand. Blinking quickly, he tried to see through the tears where Ajax was aiming for.

Unfortunately, it was too late. When he was finally able to focus, all he could see was a set of jaws aiming right for his eyebrow. At that moment, Gil wondered why the eyebrow but realized it was actually a good choice. No one ever really expected to be bitten on the eyebrow. As he felt teeth pierce the flesh over his eye, he released another snarl. In retaliation, Gil reaches his paw out and aims to hook it around one of Ajax's legs. Attempting to pull the younger boy closer to him, he lets out a low whistle to call for his Wolverine companion. Urtur rushes forward and aims to dive under Ajax and bite at one of his rear legs.

Critical Fail!Samhain 2022
06-28-2023, 03:51 AM (This post was last modified: 06-28-2023, 03:52 AM by Ajax. Edited 1 time in total.)
Ajax would have giggled if his mouth wasn't full of Gi's face. Yeah maybe his attack was underhanded and not exactly fair, but was anything fair in life? They were Pirates, it only seemed natural that they go about bending the rules when they could, revelling in that sweet grey zone slap bang in the middle of black and white. Gil weren't no slouch though and Ajax knew better than to get complacent at this point, even if this was just fun for him at the end of the day a sweet new title to celebrate the change in leadership seemed like a sweet deal to him. The tides came in and out, dragged the old away and swept in the new, this change was fine in his eyes. Sparrow would continue to do her thing as she always did. Feeling Gil's paw hook around his leg, he stumbled forward a little, closer to the new King's grasp as his companions came hurtling in- which of course caused his parental ducks to go ham. They quacked and honked, sweeping in from above as they went momma bear-duck mode.

He wasn't sure why they were still so protective over him, but he loved his duckies, they were good ducks.

A flurry of feather erupted as his pair of ducks started having a go at the wolverine. A long string of why I oughtas coming out in quacks as they pecked and attempted to tug at the creature's fur. It was chaotic and messy and Ajax LOVED it.

The motherly ducks were news to Gil and Urtur. Just as Urtur was going in to latch onto Ajax, the flurrying bomb of feathers came hurdling toward him. Sharp teeth attached to poking bills dug at his skin and tugged at his fur. Instantly, his attention was on the feathered nuisances and he no longer cared to help Gil so long as these damn ducks were trying to scalp him.

Thankfully for Gil, his leg hooking motion had worked in his favor. He felt Ajax stumble closer to him - which is what he wanted. If the boy wanted to go for cheap shots, Gil would also play that game. Keeping the youngster closer to him with their legs hooked together, he would lean his weight back until almost all of it was held by his rear legs. Utilizing this shift in his weight to lift his other paw, he aimed to place it upon Ajax’s chest. If he is able to find purchase and the boy not able to slip away, Gil would lean forward and aim to topple Ajax over until he could squish him flat against the sand.

Speaking of Jack, her friend wouldn’t be much longer at all. In fact, he was the next to show up. As she feels his nudge of greeting she would turn her green gaze to him, flashing a grin. Seeing him here only made her feel more confident about following Gilgamesh. Not that she’d ever had a problem with the man; he was a skilled fighter in his own right. Her friend’s words are light and joyful as he spoke to Gil. She wasn’t entirely sure what had prompted Gil’s takeover, but she was sure there would be some differences in leadership style and what went on in the pack. Perhaps even some more training, though she wouldn’t hold her breath. If she did that she might suffocate. Still, as Jack asks if she’s coming too, Rivin gives a firm nod and settles down beside him.

“Of course I am! Can’t let you stay and have all the fun, can I?” A genuine smile graces her face, and her voice is light, teasing as she sticks her tongue out at him. A different side of Rivin to the broody teenager that had been moping around for the past season. But… When Aresenn arrived it was not the sort of interaction she had hoped for. She frowned, her gaze following him as he left. He… wasn’t staying? She felt her heart sink. She had always felt a kinship with Senn, and having him decide to leave was a bit hard to swallow. She knew they were getting older, but Rivin had always thought they would all be together no matter what. The smile faded from her face. “‘Senn…”

Her father would show up, and then Diablo. Diablo would choose to sit on her other side and Rivin would lean into him, her gaze lowering to the earth as she tried to process what had occurred. “I… I think Aresenn is going to leave the pack.” She told him simply. She didn’t like it, and a part of her urged her to get up and follow him now. But Senn had already said that he would find her later. She didn’t need to drag him back… she doubted anything would really come of it anyway. Her gaze would flick back to Gil and Ajax as the two started to fight for a rank. Rivin would try to enjoy the show, calling out to them.

“Go ahead and give it your all. I’ll be able to patch you both up afterwards!” She had been practicing with the herbs in the gully, testing their properties on herself. If there was no other subject, you worked just as well, right? Rivin let her gaze flick to Jack. “Who do you think will win?”

"Talk," 'Think.'

Rivin has two companions - a bobcat and a wolverine. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.
