Meal for one

Kotori stood over the fawn’s corpse, the breeze blowing through his coat and cooling him off from the chase.  The fawn’s mother was farther off, it let out a sad call for the fawn even as its feet shuffled in the desire to flee.  He had already killed the fawn so the doe was free to go, unless she stayed there until he was done with the fawn.  Kotori could take a doe’s corpse back to Valta for the food supply if she were determined to make it overly easy.

Kotori lowered his head, jerking it up before he could take a bite.  The doe had run off, a large grizzly taking a lumbering jogging step towards the doe but then stopped to look at Kotori and the corpse.  Kotori pulled up his lips, making it clear the bear would be wiser to chase the doe instead of trying to steal Kotori’s food.

The bear stalked towards Kotori and his ears flattened. Typically Kotori was keen to start a fight but he was in the mood to eat his food first.  The bear was continuing forwards so Kotori stepped over his food and then right at the bear, offering it one more chance to flee as he tried to scare it into changing its mind.  

The bear lunged, attempting to slam himself into Kotori.  The wolf spun wide, getting around the bear then bit at its back leg.  Kotori ran in a circle bout the bear, making sure to block off the bear's path to Kotori’s kill.
