Ysmir had seen quite a few rabbits eating at Gwynevere’s herb garden. Appalled at the sight, Ysmir was determined to defend her precious plants. While he could have easily trapped them all quickly on his own, Gwyn had offered interest in expanding her knowledge. Why didn’t he teach her, and she could protect her plants from hungry rabbits forever. Not that he wouldn’t mind doing it for her. Together would be the most enjoyable.
He gently nudged her shoulder, waking her long before dawn to get ready. Rabbits were most active at dusk and dawn, having the greatest chance of success that day they’d start at dawn. If they didn’t have any luck, there would be plenty of time to perfect their strategy before dusk. This would be a learning experience practically, but also to their relationship. How well could the two of them hunt together?
Kissing her forehead before they headed down to the gardens to begin their first lesson. Ysmir had already gathered supplies the evening before. Now, they would be making and placing snares around the tasty plants the little nuggets would go to for breakfast.

Ever the pacifist, one of the skills that Gwyn had never really attempted to dabble in was hunting. She still had a hard line when it came to fighting, but she saw the value and the necessity in hunting so when Ysmir offered to help her with the rabbits that had been terrorizing her garden and showed an interest in showing her how to take care of them herself she readily agreed. While she didn't like the idea of killing the rabbits, she ate meat just like any other wolf so perhaps it was time for her to find other ways to contribute to the pack and their family beyond just the utilization of her healing skills. She smiled as Ysmir kissed her forehead, looking up at him affectionately before they began to make their way down to the gardens together to begin setting up their traps.
He had given her a little bit of a overview of what they would be working on and the timing of it all so she knew a little about what she was going into, but she was still very new to the whole experience so he would certainly have to be her guide in this. It had been a long time since she had really felt like a student in any regard given how early in her life she had reached a point of mastery in her healing so in a way she was just excited to be learning again and was eager to get started on the first part of this project. As they got down to the garden, she looked over the supplies he had gathered curiously and then looked to Ysmir so she could follow his lead.

He knew that Gwyn was not like other wolves and she was squeamish when it came to killing even the bugs that pestered her plants. If he could have verbally assured her he certainly would have. Her plants were much more important to the pack than the bugs or bunnies that nibbled upon them without permission. The rabbits were getting quite destructive and it was time to put an end to it. As a bonus they were going to help to put dinner on the table. He knew she was hesitant, but he was there to teach and support her every step of the way. If she found that she absolutely could not handle it, Ysmir would gladly take up the job for her, but he also knew she wanted to be independent.
She had become just as proficient in silent communication as he had, and silently the two of them arrived at the garden. As her beautiful gaze shifted to the supplies he brought with them he gave her an encouraging grin as he took the first strand of wire. It was old and bent, scraps that he had found within the castle itself and used for who knew what by who knew what before he had them. Like his ax he didn’t know who made it, but he could create an excellent snare.
Ysmire took the long piece and began to shape it skillfully, if not a little clumsy with his awkward paws until he had a line with a loop that would tighten when you pulled on it. He gestured for Gwyn to copy his technique.

As they settled in to begin their preparations, Gwyn made sure to pay close attention to what Ysmir was doing as he began to shape the wire. It obviously was a task that paws were not perfectly suited for, but so were so many of the things that she did in her work as a healer so she felt fairly confident that she would be able to follow along and replicate what he was doing. She watched as he shaped the wire into a loop and formed it in a way where it could close up if it was tugged on. While trying not to think too much about what that wire would inevitably do to the rabbits that they were after, she set to work mimicking Ysmir's motions while both straitening out the kinked wire and shaping it into a smoother loop. The motions of her paws were slightly uncertain at first and certainly awkward, but with a bit of trial and error and looking to Ysmir for direction or confirmation, she eventually got to a point where she was happy with what she had made. With the first step done, she held it up for Ysmir to inspect and then waited to see what they would be doing to make this part of the trap they were creating.
