Hunting big or small?

The purple tree’s leaves were losing their grip on the trees. Pink and purple buds float on the ground to blend in with the grass. Kotori acknowledged it was a pretty picture but there were more important things on his mind. The wolf stalked quietly through the grass, his own intent on the small gathering of deer, a few females with their fawns.

It had been a while since Kotori had hunted for a game of any noteworthy size so this would be a bit of a fun refresher. Of course, it would also mean food to bring back to the pack. He could get a fawn well enough alone the horned male imagined but what about one of the does without an ally to assist?
