Araneae

since their epic beat down super close scuffle with Kyanite, Araneae has found themselves consumed by a desire to get stronger, faster, more cunning - to build their skills in battle until they’re virtually unbeatable. a bit of a tall order, perhaps…but after awaking every morning cringing to the memory of that pathetic defeat, the child is eager to leave the treehouse and scamper off into the woods, going deep enough that hopefully no one will stumble upon their training. granted, this ‘training’ consists of little beyond rearing up onto their hind paws and boxing their fore paws into the air, but it’s better than nothing, right?

unfortunately, this particularly morning does not seem to be on their side. for one thing, the rain-slick ground provides little purchase for their hind claws, leading to an ungodly amount of slipping and skidding about - and for another thing, after a particularly ambitious swing, Araneae stumbles and slams awkwardly back to all fours, wincing as pain shoots through their left fore paw. “ah, shit!” a hiss of pain leaves gritted teeth, and a scowl mars their face as Araneae hops a few steps forward, dismayed to find a dull pain resounding through the bone.
