It had been several days since the incident with a certain child. Diablo had stashed away the evidence, hidden it deep in the den he had made. He was not yet ready to tell his father about it, but his sister had learned every detail. No doubt that sooner or later, the girl's family - if she had any - would find him. But he decided it was safer to lie low for a time, so he wandered the island, checking nooks and crannies, but he was growing bored. He found himself on the shore of the water, tail lashing with irritation. He knew he had done something stupid, but he couldn't admit it out loud to anyone else. Was he prepared to suffer any future consequences? Eh, that was something he'd deal with as it came. "Speak"

The ocean will always be Calico Jack’s first, true love. Waves were his lullaby as a baby and the salty sea air was his cologne as he grew. So, it is no wonder that, on a day where the dark clouds threaten rain but have yet to produce it, the calico-hued boy is out by the water’s edge. The waves crash across the sand, spilling their frothy heads across the beach as they reach toward his toes, gently lick them before retreating away. This is his safe place and the one place he mentally retreats to when the world seems dark and scary.

A dark form catches his peripheral vision and pulls the boy’s attention away from the dark blue water where he turns his gaze up until he spies Rivin’s brother, Diablo. The other boy seems rather agitated, his tail lashing out behind him as he seems to brood over the open waves. Rivin is his best friend and, if Jack is being totally honest, the girl is starting to be a lot more than just his friend. A confused tangle of emotions builds at the thought of her and the boy pushes them away in favor of figuring out what is ailing Diablo.

Without a care in world, Calico Jack slowly saunters toward the gloomy boy and, with a huge, lopsided grin on his features, calls out, “Hey Diablo! What’s got your tail in a twist?” His voice is light and jovial as he questions the other boy, meaning no ill will as he attempts to figure out what is wrong.
