Beauregard came from the desert, paws thankful to touch the grasses of the plains. A pack had once lived here, perhaps still did, even if they were fewer in number, and as he crossed the wall they had built the man made a promise to leave them once the deed was done. He had no idea if another might contest his claim, but no matter what fate had in store for him, he would stand strong. Some time ago, when he had left his birth pack on his pilgrimage, Beau had no idea what to expect. He had come to Boreas seeking his place, initially hoping it might be with Menagerie. When that fell through he had gone with his partners to Ethne, a pack that had cared for them as their own… and without questioning or judgment. But as he found an area where the grasses had been trimmed down by grazing animals, the ashen cream male reminded himself that he was here of his own accord.
Beauregard had no problem following others, but he no longer lacked the courage to stand up and be a leader if the opportunity for it arose as well. Perhaps fortune would favor him. His blue gaze swept the plains, ears perked as he sought the sounds of other predators in the area. Thus far nothing… but it would be foolish to assume that this would be a cakewalk. His gaze would slide to the knife attached to the leather leg wraps. Would he use it today to draw the blood of a stranger? He heard shifting at his side, his companion Blind testing the earth and grass beneath her paws. Their gazes met and the wolf knew it was time. His head would tilt back, and his song would fill the air.
He wanted to make a pack. And unless someone dared contested his claim, he would make it before he left these plains.
Beauregard has two companions - a bluejay and an arctic fox. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.
As his mates, Tanelan and Co. are allowed in any thread Beauregard is in regardless of tag.
Like that of Sparrow, Gilgamesh would not be one to miss a party. Well, it wasn't exactly a party, but any call from someone wishing to claim a pack's downfall was sure to promise something exciting. See, Gil wasn't often out west. Rather, he had been stationary within his own lands as of late. Finishing up the repairs and whatnot of the Isle that needed to be done. His pack needed a safe and warm home now that winter was knocking at their door. But that morning, he had wanted to get out, and stretch his legs a bit, and a youngster had recently requested to learn how to scout. Who was he to deny one of his own?
So they had gone out, well before dawn, trudging their way through mud, muck, and slushy snow. Frozen to his paws, he would grit his teeth together and push on. He would expect any scout of his to tolerate any weather scenario so he must too. They were just making it through the dunes, approaching Ashen borders when the call rang out. His ears turn in interest as he listens. Valhalla fallen? And this... stranger wanted to take its place? A smirk crosses his lips as he turns to the kid. Telling him to return with the escort of his owl, Erish, Gil sees them off before slipping past Ashen and heading out to the plains. His paws eat up the nearly frozen earth as he makes good time.
Approaching the stranger, Gil reveals a cheeky grin with his retractable fangs sliding downward. "Just here for the show," he calls out with a wink of one of his yellow goat-like eyes. Moving off to the side, Gil keeps his Wolverine companion close and chooses to sit out of the way, but still ever-present.

By the time he arrives, it seems the thing stands abandoned. Abandoned, up for claim. A bit of deja-vu, colors his vision of the scene, gaze falling appraisingly on the boy who's made the call. Drawing in closer, the mottled man speaks too. "We can hope for a show," the words come with a deep, rumbling chuckle. It comes from somewhere deep in his chest, along with a razor sharp grin. Though he briefly sizes up the raid king, Viðarr recognizes the way about him. They've arrived for the spectator sport of this. In that, he spends a longer moment looking over the whelp from his distance. What sort of kingdom would he lead?

Already, a wolf sought to claim their pickings, and he was curious too about this. He crossed over into lands that had until recently been claimed. It had been a long time since he had set paw anywhere near this territory, and he glanced at their wall as he crossed between them. His eyes found the wolf that sought to stake their claim, and he studied him, as well. Then his eyes moved to Gilgamesh, and he raised a brow at the Raider king. One other wolf had arrived so far, a dark wolf that also smelled of pack. One he was not familiar with.

Her seagull had been the one to clue her in on her fathers presence, and so she picked up her pace and headed towards the plains she had only visited twice before in her life, once to raid, and once entirely by accident. They had seemed a decent lot, those Valhalla wolves, it would be a shame to see them gone, they could have been decent future customers.
Bottles clinking merrily over her hips, held together with a string of vines it was almost comical to come upon the group of solemn old men staring expectantly at the would be leader. For a moment, she thought to have a little fun, strutting up to the stranger with her head held high, giving him a look up and down as if she was considering actually taking him on... but she couldn't hold her serious demeanour, the whole affair far too amusing for the newly minted adult hellbent on adventure, a pack sounded far too serious at this stage of her life. Instead, she snickered and offered a dip of her antlered head to the would be leader, “Break a leg, eh?” and then she moved to join the spectators. Not needing to ask if her father wanted a drink, she passed one to her old man and another over to the big dark guy beside him. After a second glance between the stash she had available and the wolves that were gathered, she sighed dramatically and nudged one towards Sirius too, plonking her ass down unceremoniously, somewhere between the two groups of adults. If anyone chose to turn her offerings down, she'd gather them up once the show was done.

As the first wolf arrived Beau would give him a nod. A spectator, one to see what sort of kingdom he would raise. Another would follow heartbeats after. His words bring a mischievous smirk to Beauregard's lips. "It would be a bit of a shame to have wolves gather for nothing. If a challenger fails to show, perhaps the alphas themselves may indulge me in a rumble." There is amusement in the man's voice. As much as he had enjoyed the life he lived in Ethne to focus on himself and his mate, Beauregard realizes he has missed action in his life.
Another man would appear, an alpha he recalls from the challenge of Habari. It felt like ages ago now… but he is aware the effects of that challenge linger. Beauregard tips his head to the man. "Warlord, good to see you here." When he had met Sirius the first time he had been a member of Menagerie. Strange how no one ever discovered the truth of their dissolve. Beau lets his gaze flick to the next arrival. For a moment he wonders if she will challenge him. His stance widens, gaze narrowing and tail raising as he prepares to defend his claim. He won't let anyone take this from him now. But her serious demeanor falls, and recognizing she is not a present threat Beauregard lets his fur lay flat. Besides him Blind huffs, the fox growing impatient.
"Perhaps he could if someone else wished to challenge his claim." She flicks an ear. Beauregard doesn't seem bothered by this, however, giving a nod in the direction of the other youth.
"Fight or not, I will become an alpha today." His gaze sweeps the plains, senses alert should anyone approach from a direction he wasn't looking in. "Don't suppose any of you have an idea why this pack has faded? The wall was quite the endeavor… a shame to leave it behind." He might have been attempting to claim their spot but he had no personal dealing with the wolves that had lived here. He couldn't help but wonder if they were fading in the way Menagerie had… or if it was a different situation altogether.
Beauregard has two companions - a bluejay and an arctic fox. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.
As his mates, Tanelan and Co. are allowed in any thread Beauregard is in regardless of tag.
"Maybe the alpha abandoned it’s group." she whispered thinking on it. How COULD these wolves stand each other. She barely could be around Req for a long amount of time. Sitting her eyes stared into the crowd. Just like the rest she wanted something to happen. Who knew, maybe she’d settle in the new pack. To hide of course. No pack actually wanted her of all wolves.
After the battle the young leader had had with the three scary males, Haydée had considered cutting her trip in Boreas short in favor of returning to Ethne. In the end, she decided to continue through with adventures and make her rounds to certain packs. On her way out toward Ashen, a familiar voice raised on the wind to claim a pack that had crumbled. Ears perk as she recognizes the voice and Hay quickly changes course in favor of offering Beauregard support.
Short legs gallop across the distance but, even running as fast as she can, the small Leader arrives behind several other wolves. Recognizing two of the big males already gathered, the girl moves toward them and says to Sirius and Viðarr, “Hey guys! How are you both doing? I hope you are having a good day!” Excited, the girl’s tail wags behind her as she looks to the other wolves that she does not know and says, “Hi there! I am Haydée.”
Once pleasantries are exchanged, the excited girl moves to sit behind Beauregard, showing her support for the man. A wide smile is offered to him as she settles in.
"Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none.”
Haydée has a male northern cardinal named Chanson and a female fossa named Manon. They are always close by.
The only constant in life was change, but even that seemed to happening a bit too consistently in recent seasons for Artorias' liking. News of another pack's downfall had reached Auster, and as such the Aegis came to see if the rumors were true with his own eyes. Valhalla had not been a Hallows ally by any means, but he had had pleasant enough conversation with Ardyn and Aurielle, and he knew they were distant family to the Adravendis in his pack, so it only felt right to see what had become of them. Arriving to the stale-scented borders of the grasslands, Artorias spotted the group of wolves gathering with ease. It seemed only one contender had stepped forth to lay claim to the pack; a stranger he had never seen before. Curious. He did recognize a few of the other wolves in attendance, and some he did not. It seemed more and more changed around Boreas than he realized.
Making his way around the perimeter of Beauregard's staged arena so as not to mistake himself as a challenger, Artorias moved to position himself near Sirius. He smiled at Haydée when he glanced over at her; the girl seemed to be coming into her own as an alpha quite nicely. "Another one bites the dust, eh?" he remarked as he sat down beside his father-in-law, a bit of a cheeky smirk on his face. "I suppose there's no love lost there though." Art was keenly aware of the Armada's dislike of Valhalla, particularly between Sirius and Aurielle. Certainly the Warlord was silently celebrating inside his own mind. As for the Aegis, he simply wished to see who the next alpha would be.
Little time passes when a shadowed figure approaches. Gil's eyes glance over the other male, noticing there is an unfamiliar pack scent upon him. Curious, Gil can't help the grin that pulls to his lips at the man's words. A pleased noise and a nod of his head before he watched the Warlord approach. The lifted brow in his direction is met with a raised brow of his own. He could be civil in front of the group, could Sirius? Before he has a chance to say much of anything snarky to the others, an all too familiar daughter of his is showing up with bottles clinking along her sides. Gil turns to watch Deluge as she marches up to the challenger and he almost laughs. The girl did have a flare for theatrics, didn't she?
Pleased that she handed out bottles of booze, he was about to swipe his up when he saw Sirius giving the one offered to him a very... skeptical look. A sigh of... not quite annoyance leaves him as he rolls his eyes. Then he gets up, takes the bottle handed to Sirius, and then hands him the bottle that Deluge had rolled to him. "It's not poison, Warlord," Gil says roughly, his brow raised once more before he goes to take his place on the other side of the group as a very small girl shows up. As he sits and drinks from his bottle, the contender addresses them all. Gil turns his attention to the man as he speaks. A short chuckle leaves him as he looks over to the dark-coated male and Sirius. "I wouldn't mind putting on a show," he offers with a raise of his bottle in cheers. Friendly competition was healthy, wasn't it?
When this male conveniently doesn't introduce himself but asks about the fallen pack, Gil shrugs and takes another swig. He knows of nothing outside of his own home. Packs rose and fell all the same, why did it matter to the man? As his mind questions, he notices a very tiny girl approach with a pep in her step. She first speaks to the mystery shadow man and then to Sirius as well. Who was she? Another alpha? Watching as she eagerly introduces herself and goes to sit behind the contender, Gil nods in her direction. "Gilgamesh," he offers back cordially, figuring that maybe the other leaders in Boreas and Auster should know his name.
There is another mystery female lingering in the background, but he pays her no mind. She doesn't smell or even resemble anything close to any alpha. Probably just some lowlife looking for a fight. Content to relax and enjoy the chatter and drink, his eyes then move to the approach of the Hallow Aegis, Artorias. Unfortunately for Gilgamesh, he had not been able to attend the raid upon the Hallows but had heard of the kidnapping shenanigans that had ensued. He notices Artorias sidle in beside Sirius and wonders how close they are. Oh well, who needed allies anyway?

The white gloved Empress hung back closer to the border of the rocks as she took stock of who exactly had shown up here today. She recognized a few good friends, but the majority of the wolves were strangers to her. Another fact that came as no surprise. Venom and Ashen kept to themselves and didn’t stick their noses into each other's business. However, being right next door the Empress had little excuse not to show her face.
She missed most of the banter between parties by the time she made her own approach. She could be mistaken for anything but a challenger as she meandered closer to where Sirius and Artorias were already sitting. "Gentlemen.” She greed softly as her sunset gaze again roved the gathering wolves. Most could be assumed alphas themselves but they were not the only ones gathered.

A woman would arrive, and by how she slunk around at the back of the group, Beauregard got the feeling she wasn’t part of any particular pack. Either a loner being cautious, or perhaps one looking for information. He supposed her answer could be the truth, after all. The alpha could have merely abandoned the pack, but that seemed strange. Packs tended to have strong ties to one another. No one else spoke up about what could have happened to the pack but there was the chance that they didn’t know its fate either. Beauregard decided it was better to leave it be. Whatever had happened to the pack, it no longer stood here now, and soon those gathered would be the first to witness him become a leader in his own right.
Hay would arrive and Beauregard flashed her a smile. Knowing the Leader of Ethne was in his corner and supported him as one of their own filled his heart with joy. A pack needed those they could trust if they were to function in the world. His gaze flicks to the merle coated man with fangs as he states he wouldn’t mind putting on a show, and he introduces himself; Gilgamesh. It is a name that Beau stashes away for later as he waits just a bit longer for any more arrivals. One lady does arrive, another alpha, perhaps? Beauregard tips his head toward her respectfully. But as much time has passed, he can only assume no wolf will challenge his claim.
“No wolf has come to contest my claim, and so today the kingdom of Norad will be born.” Beauregard lets his gaze sweep across the other alphas, holding himself level. This was his first chance to get a feel for any of them, and they for him. “I am Beauregard Ravenwood, a divergent from Ethne.” The information could be a double edged sword. Both to tell others he is friend, or perhaps foe. “But enough of this talk of business talk. Gilgamesh, if you would care to join me for some fun?” The man rolls his shoulders forward, slipping into an easy defense.
“...and any other is free to join in as well. A way to get to know each other without words, if you will.” Light dances in Beauregard’s blue eyes. He is ready.
Beauregard has two companions - a bluejay and an arctic fox. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.

A silken-coated female with a regal slither to her step draws Gil's gaze away from the crowd. He watches her approach Sirius and Artorias to sit beside them and that was it. No greetings to the rest. His brow furrows a moment, wondering what made her so high and mighty compared to the rest of them. Pursing his lips together, Gilgamesh turns his attention away from the Ashen Empress and back toward the newly crowned Alpha, Beauregard Ravenwood of Norad. Interesting names, but Gilgamesh was not one to judge. Raider's Hollow was simple and straightforward. He wanted them all to know what they were about, duh.
Instead, he listens and his smirk grows. So the man wanted to brawl, huh? Maybe he would like this new Alpha after all! Honestly, though his rivalry with Armada was misguided (and really had nothing to do with him outside of his own shenanigans), Gil probably would get along with most of the leaders across the lands. Yet, he had an image to uphold and if this was a chance to cement it, he wouldn't miss it. Stretching out his own muscles and coming to a standing position, he approaches Beauregard with a curious expression and lighthearted smile. Pausing before the new Alpha, Gil's gaze wanders, assessing, planning.
"And what may your terms be?" He asks, staying on his toes just in case the boy wants to surprise him instead.

Not long after Artorias had taken a seat to observe the challenge, he noticed Venom approaching the crowd of alphas and greeted the Empress with a lopsided smile and a tip of his head. "Empress Venom," he greeted her in return. As this was an official and formal gathering, it only felt fitting to use her title. At some point, Haydée began to greet the others in attendance before firmly planting herself on the challenger's side. Someone she knew, perhaps? But more interestingly was the merle-colored stranger who introduced himself as Gilgamesh. Artorias raised a curious brow. He had smelled the man's scent around the southern end of Boreas, marking lands near the lands that Ashen had once owned. So he had taken over the wayward pirates after they abandoned their cave, eh? Good stuff to know.
When no other challengers stepped forward, the stranger declared his victory and establishment of the kingdom of Norad. Artorias quirked a brow. A curious name, especially deigning it a kingdom in its infancy, but the man was within his rights to do so. The stranger introduced himself as Beauregard Ravenwood and declared himself a divergent of Ethne. Aha! That explained how Haydée knew him and why she supported his claim. The Hallows and Ethne had good relations, so perhaps this Norad would also be a friend in the making. In an unexpected twist of affairs, Beauregard decided to cap off his victory celebration with an open invitation to brawl the other alphas, starting by singling out Gilgamesh. Artorias glanced over at the Raider alpha with a raised brow, intrigued to see how this played out. He hadn't decided if he'd get involved or not yet, but he did want to see this interaction.

Just as Gilgamesh seizes him up, Beauregard takes note of the fangs he bore and the crystals along his spine. They were roughly the same size, but with the unique features and age on his side, and likely experience, Gilgamesh was more likely to emerge the victor. Beauregard lets himself slip into a battle ready stance, one that had been fine tuned since arriving in Boreas. He could feel excitement bubbling in his gut, that desire to dance and give his all in a good natured spar against a worthy opponent. Loss wasn’t something that would bother him. But it would be noted; Beauregard knew there was more to learn about this world, and more experience to gain. Such things could come from losing too.
“I’d ideally like to keep my body intact, but since you’re taking the place of a challenger in this situation, I’d say that the terms are your choice.” He grins. “Your choice of ferocity, and I’ll mirror however hard you choose to go. Let's give them a show; everyone came all this way after all!” The man sets the rest of his defenses, gaze narrowing with determination as he gives a slight nod to the man before him. The first move was Gil’s. He only needed to take it.

The day's journey from the isle to the western plains had easily kept his body warm. Muscles fluid and ready to move, Gil did his own micro adjustments as he focused on Beauregard. His brow quirks slightly as his lips twitch, hinting at a subtle smirk as the man spoke. Ah, so he would give him the choice of ferocity. For a moment, his yellow goat-like gaze flickers to the other alphas. The Warlord, the Shadow, the Empress, the Aegis, and the Princess were still sitting, waiting, watching. Would they join? Should he be prepared for them to jump in at any moment? He doubted the females and Warlord would spend the energy, but Shadow and Aegis... Hmm, they might find something like this entertaining.
Considering his options, Gil's gaze moves back to Beau. The hair along his spine begins to bristle around the blue crystals as he widens his stance ever so slightly. Keeping his head high but chin slightly tilted, he lets out a chuckle. "I enjoy the enthusiasm," he replies, humor in his tone. "Let us keep it easy this time and perhaps next time we meet, there will be more at risk," Gil winks right before launching his lithe frame forward. Paws stretch out and hit the frozen ground with power as he runs at Beau. His eyes never leave his opponent, Gil is always calculating and considering his options. Years of fighting have made him better, smarter, and wiser.
As Gil nears Beau, he dips to his left side and allows his weight to move fluidly. Using the momentum of his legs to shift, he shoves his weight back toward Beau hoping to have more impact, and slams into Beau's right shoulder. In the same instance, as he steps toward Beau with his shoulder forward, he reaches out with his fangs extended and his jaw opened. Aiming to grab ahold of Beau's scruff, he hoped to keep his opponent within close quarters.

Artorias looked around at his fellow alphas while Beauregard and Gilgamesh began to set their fight and stake their wages. A friendly spar for a good show. While the combatants prepared themselves, Artorias looked to the Warlord and the Empress at either side of him. He knew they would likely not want to get involved, especially not with the Raider leader being a part of it, but hell, why not take the chance to get to test the mettle of his peers? If nothing else, it would teach him something about Gilgamesh and Beauregard. Just as the two fighters were preparing to begin, Artorias glanced over at Sirius and Venom with a crooked grin. Eh, why the hell not? Drawing his sword and driving the blade into the ground to keep any lethals out of the fight, the Aegis began to charge his way down into the fray.
He arrived just as the other two combatants made contact with one another, watching as Gilgamesh made a lunge to try and grab Beauregard's scruff. Intervening being something of his strong suit, Artorias aimed to charge right between the two combatants, throwing his greater size right where Gil and Beau were grappling at one another to try and push all of them apart. "Mind if I cut in?" he jested with a grin, reflexes tensed and prepared to respond to whichever of his opponents decided to try and take a swing at him first.

Beauregard felt ready, calm as he looked upon Gilgamesh. There appeared to be more to the man’s decision than what he was saying, not that Beau minded that too much. He would come to know each of the leaders here in time, and their stances with Norad. But for now, he wanted to keep things light and get a feel for them in other ways. Battle was a great way to give a feel for someone’s strength after all. So when Gil came forward, the younger and new alpha prepared himself for the attack to come. The frozen ground would make larger lunges harder, for risk of slipping in the ice and mud, but…
Gilgamesh lets his weight carry him forward, and Beauregard shifts his body to bear the brunt of Gil’s attack as the man slams into him. Feeling his body slide in the mud, Beau steadies himself and reaches out a foreleg to wrap around Gil’s own and attempt to yank him forward. To counter Gil’s jaws, Beauregard brings his head up suddenly, knowing his opponent is taller, and tries to click them closed so that those fangs can do no damage. But in the middle of his attack a body is forcing its way between them, and Beau’s head glide’s up over Arotrias’ body and cuirass. Well, that was one way to avoid a bite!
Beau takes a couple of forced steps back, aiming to recollect himself. Blind, his fox companion, uses this opening to dive at Artorias’ back leg and sink her tiny fangs into his ankle. She wouldn’t be able to do much due to her size against a dire male, but her duty was to aid Beau in his endeavors. And aid him she would!

His shoulder connects with Beauregard's. The jarring reaction sets his claws digging into the mud to keep his balance. Bracing his hind paws to help drive forward as much as he could without slipping and falling, he is pleasantly surprised when his teeth clang instead against Artorias' cuirass. Pulling backward, lips curling into a smirk, he lets out a chuckle as he makes space between his now two opponents. It seemed the blue dire wanted a piece after all! "I don't mind at all," Gil replies, humor in his tone and a sparkle in his goat-like eyes as he quickly sizes up the situation.
As he does, he notices the small fox going for Artorias' ankle. Taking the moment of diversion, Gil steps forward. Trying to move himself beneath Artorias' head so he is in front of his chest, he continues to step forward and try to lunge at Beauregard on the other side. If he can reach the shorter man's face or shoulder, he can maybe use the surprise as a way to take him down into the mud. To help stabilize himself, he swings his hips toward Artorias' chest to both brace himself against the larger man and also hope that Artorias' chest or underside of his chin is scraped by the crystals that line his spine.

Welcomed into the fray by the other two combatants, Artorias put on an entertained grin and resumed the battle. He'd given Beauregard a bit of reprieve by blocking out Gilgamesh's attack with his body, and how did the new alpha repay him? With his fox companion taking a nibble at his ankles. Artorias yelped in surprise and glanced down at the smaller vulpine. Well, two could play at that game! A whistle from the Aegis, and his own fox Argent came rushing in to tackle Blind away, kicking off a fox versus fox battle admit the brawling wolves. That freed Artorias up enough to turn his attention back to his own fight. And good thing he did too, because Gil was making his moves towards Beau.
Artorias recoiled his head back as Gil shot out in front of him, the other brute's hips pushing into his chest and shoving him off kilter. Thankfully, the armor that Artorias wore covered his chest up to his throat, so the sharp edges of Gil's crystals scraped across the reinforced leather and missed his skin. Using the momentum of Gil's shove, Artorias shot his forepaws out and aimed to grab the Raider king around the hips, hoping to get a good enough hold that he could use his momentum to pull Gil with him away from Beau and toss the smaller brute across the ground judo-style. As he pivoted, Art aimed to kick out a hidden leg like a braying donkey at Beauregard's head, a little love tap from the Austral alpha to ring the lad's bell a wee bit.
