There were few moments in recent memory where Indigo could confess to true happiness. He’d thought many times he had been able to grasp just that, but as he aged and endured loss after loss they were few and far between. Now though, he had found peace here in Valta. He watched his little girl grow into a wonderful young woman, and he was able to see Aslatiel as the true leader she was always meant to be.

He had indeed found his happiness. So why did it feel like the other shoe was going to drop? Like there was always some nagging tragedy just around the corner? Sometimes he wished he could see the future, just so he could prepare himself for the next great hurdle that would undoubtedly befall him. As soon as the smile returned to his face, something happened that would rip it away again.

For now the maned man did his best to ignore the feeling, he’d been hurt so many times he told himself it was just paranoia. They were happy and safe here in Valta, and life would finally take it easy on his battered soul. He had everything he wanted, that didn’t mean he would have to give something in return.

Of course the dark thoughts liked to trouble him when he found a moment alone, sitting by the falls that chill winter day. The sun was shining, a break from the dreary cloud cover and it shined and sparkled over the icicles that formed on the falls. They truly lived in a beautiful place, and with such gorgeous scenery he wondered how strong his feelings had to be to break through the tranquility. A soft sigh left his dark lips as he lay his head on massive paws and stared up at the falls, trying to rid himself of the funk that bothered him.

Indigo Arcturus Fatalis

Things were going surprisingly well with Kotori gone. It seemed that Asla was a natural leader. The pack was thriving, the members were flourishing, the numbers were growing. The blonde fae was proud of the work that she'd put it. She would be both happy and sad when her younger brother returned from his wandering. Giving up everything that she was working towards... it would be like giving up her Reaper position once again. The feelings that this thought brought about weren't happy ones and so, when she found Indigo laying beside the falls, she was in a funk as well.

Without a word, the tiny, blonde and grey fae moved forward and curled up against the massive man's side her own chin resting on one outstretched foreleg. This was one thing that could never feel off or wrong. Being together finally. Indigo was the other half of her soul, the key to her heart. Without him, she was less than a wolf. She was empty.

Curling her neck to the side, Asla buried her muzzle in Indigo's purple mane for a moment, just enjoying the feel of him; the scent of him. Then she sighed and pushed off of the ground, forcing her small frame under his resting head and depositing herself against his chest. She just needed a hug and, by the looks of him, he needed one too.

"Aslatiel Indarra"

Indigo might have fallen asleep there as he watched the cold water run down the frozen streaks of ice and threw little rainbows of colors as they disturbed the sunlight. Here in his nest of snow he was warm, there was no breeze and peace had easily settled over the frozen lands. Even with his errant thoughts he could find solace. However, he would not be there alone for very long.

He didn’t know if Aslatiel followed his tracks or just so happened to be in the near vicinity but he felt a flutter in his heart and warmth spread through his frame as she quietly joined him there by the flowing pools. A small smile tugged at his lips as she pushed herself up against him, and then forced herself against his chest. Nice and snug, just like she belonged there.

The massive purple brute conformed around her, holding her tightly to his form as another sigh left him, this time much more content. Nothing could be wrong in the world when he was holding her. Despite trying to live their lives apart for so long, they had always been meant to be together. Two parts of a whole.

Indigo Arcturus Fatalis

Indigo curled around her and a small sigh of content pulled from the small fae. She nestled more tightly against his chest, amethyst eyes closing. A little roll was given and Asla ended up on her back, paws tucked up against her own chest. She was so small in comparison to him that the woman fit perfectly between her brother's thick forelegs.

"What's wrong?" she asked softly, leaning her cheek in against his chest. Asla's eyes were still closed and she was completely comfortable. Even the cold of winter didn't touch her while in his embrace. Something was bothering him, but she didn't know what it was quite yet. Hopefully he wouldn't try to brush it off and would tell her true. She knew that he didn't like to worry her, however.

"Aslatiel Indarra"

This was where he felt most comfortable, laying with Asla curled against his chest as if nothing bad could ever happen or would ever happen. Though his mind liked to race she put him at ease with her closeness. He smiled softly as he curried his muzzle into her soft fur, enjoying the way she fit so perfectly against his huge frame. He sighed contentedly against her before he heard her soft voice ask him what was wrong.

Even if he had been trying to hide his turmoil from her it was no surprise that Aslatiel would know that he was bothered beneath the surface. He chuckled softly and shook his head at just how perceptive his beautiful little sister was.

”Nothing should be bothering me, life couldn’t be better.” He started softly as he nuzzled her again, trailing his nose down her cheek and neck. ”I don’t know, I’m just paranoid but I feel like I'm just waiting for something bad to happen.” He told her honestly.

Indigo moved, holding her against him and Asla released a soft sigh. Gods, how she loved him. Even when they were apart, doing their own things, it was so easy to come back together and pick up like no time had passed between them. Asla nuzzled into the thick, royal purple fur and felt safe and whole. This was where she belonged. Where they both belonged.

Concerns were shared and Asla raised her paws up, stroking one strong cheek lovingly. "There's always something bad on the horizon," she began, speaking softly. "The more time that you waste thinking about it, the less time that you have enjoying the good times." A gentle, loving kiss was placed upon the giant brutes chin. "Think about the good things, my love. We have a home. We're together. We have a gorgeous daughter. We're both healthy." Forelegs wrapped about Indigo's neck and she pulled him in closer. "When the bad does come, we'll weather it together." They would never be apart again.

"Aslatiel Indarra"

She easily chased all of his worries away without a word as she sighed softly and settled against his embrace. A tiny contented grin played at the corners of his lips as he closed his blue eyes and nuzzled into her fur. His saber-like teeth softly trailing through her beige coat. This was what he had always wanted, what he had tried so hard to once forget.

She moved subtly, lifting her paws to cradle his head as Indigo’s eyes fluttered back open to look into her own as she spoke to him. Her words weren’t so comforting as she told him the truth, there would always be the next big disaster on the horizon. He certainly didn’t mean to obsess over the thought, but the feeling was a hard one to shake.

”We do, but it’s hard not to ask for how long.” He whispered softly despite her doing her best at chasing the emotions away from him. He couldn’t really focus on the what if when she was so close, and so kissable. A larger grin overwhelmed his features as he leaned forward to press his lips against hers, renewing the vigor with which he held her as she wrapped her arms around his neck.
