before you get all aggressive
flurry
It was... blinding noon. Not warm though because it was winter. Actually, it was pretty frigid by what she could feel as she slunk outside. She was only slinking because her mother had told her to get out. Out of the building. Go do something other than sulk. Pft, like she was sulking. She didn't do that. Not one bit. Okay, maybe she was sulking just a little bit. But more because her bones hurt and she just wanted to sleep. Was that so hard to ask for? An extra nap when it was quiet? Everyone else was elsewhere. Made sense though that her mother would want the room to herself.
One could call Calliope contemplative. More... thoughtful? Broody? Something sour. Along the lines of an overripe lemon that's been left to decay at the base of a tree. Ew, okay, maybe not that sour but close enough. Anyway, the girl slips outside. Her large paws crunch in the frost that covers the crumbling stone, frozen dirt, and dead grass. Out toward the shore, the water sparkles as the clouds break to reveal a dazzling sun. Damn, was it always this bright? Her eyes squeeze shut as she flinches from the sensation of the light washing over her. She almost wanted to hiss.
"Stupid mom. Just wanted to sleep," Calliope practically seethes under her breath as she drags her paws across the ground and heads toward the shore.

It was in all ways totally predictable that she'd see her younger siblings romping about at this point. Flurry held no bad feelings for either of her parents but she was well aware of how deeply unmaternal her mother was and had no doubt that any of her siblings who were inclined towards hiding behind her would find out very quickly how hard that'd be. Especially with seven of them to try and wrangle. Not that Flurry was complaining, honestly while her own litter mates seemed chilly or otherwise indifferent to the little brats she was looking forward to them frankly. Firstly she thought it was a little short sighted of anyone to not see the potential a group of impressionable young raiders were for creating one's own personal army and two because... Well someone had to be and she might as well be the one excited to get to play with them if her other siblings were going to fuck off somewhere else and leave her with them... Okay so that was less about the pups and maybe she still had some feelings to work through on that front... Regardless it wasn't all that surprising to see one or two of them out and about regularly now. Like today. She'd been doing a run of the beach both as exercise and to check any of the parts of the island that acted as a border. Her pace slowing to an easy trot as she once more got closer to the familiar shore that stretched out from the building. It was near impossible to miss the girl, unlike her own litter mates it seemed like a lot more of her mother had come through on this brood and a little sunset coloured shape was easy to spot against the island backdrop. Nor was it hard to see the girl's dark expression. Flurry couldn't help being amused. "You look like someone shit in your bed." Crass, probably not age appropriate by most standards, but hey it was about what any of them could expect around here. "Unless someone actually did in which case, which of your brothers are we ganging up on?" Technically her brothers too, but she wasn't even sure if the girl really knew who she was... Flurry had visited once when the kiddos had been too young to really do more than wriggle around and squeal and frankly between her mother's lack of interest and her own memory she remembered not a single one of their names or which name had belonged to which bean. But hey maybe the girl would remember her scent, or maybe one of their parents had actually thought to mention to the little gremlins they had older siblings... She didn't know, she was winging it. Almost always was. |

In the moments that she had been walking on the beach, the young pup had found a sea shell. As she kicked it a few times to see how far it would go, she heard someone approaching. Glancing up with a furrowed brow and half-flattened ears, she went back to kicking her shell until the splotchy yearling finally entered her personal space. There was no general glance in her older sister's direction. A slight twitch of her nose to scent the older girl, but otherwise, Calliope continued to kick at the shell in front of her.
Calliope was content to ignore the girl until she asked if they were going to beat up her brothers. That grabbed her attention. Her ears straightened up and her bushy tail gave a few wags. "They ain't gotta shit in my bed for me to beat them up," her malicious grin stretched her whitened lips as she finally turned her bright blue eyes to Flurry. "Fuzzy's yer name, right?" Cal tips her head slightly to the side, blinking a few times before shrugging. "Eh, beatin' them up gets kinda borin' when ya win all the time," she takes a few steps away and begins kicking at her shell again. "Bet I can take ya on too," Cal taunts her older sister as she continues to pretend to not care to look over at her.

Oh? Flurry's brows lifted and an amused smirk pulled up the corner of her mouth. Attitude on this one huh? Good, it'd serve her well here, especially as there were no other children her age aside from her litter mates and Flurry wouldn't put it past any of the teenagers running around to know an easy target when they saw one, or at least thought they did if the girl's aggression was anything to go by. Frankly Flurry wouldn't put it past her litter mates either. Not that she was feeling particularly threatened by her younger sister. Even with her track record Flurry was reasonably sure she could handle the girl. Though who knew maybe she'd simply be out paced by the energy of a pup. "Flurry." She corrected the girl, only needing a few steps to keep pace with the smaller girl as she went back to kicking a seashell down the shore. She still didn't know the girl's name. Still her younger sister's challenge piqued her interest. "Yeah?" Well wasn't her sister a cocky one? "I'd be tempted to let you try." Might as well tease a little bit while she was at it. She was curious about her sister, eager to see what the girl's plan was. "But what would I get out of it? If you win you get bragging rights but what about if I win? If I'm risking getting chewed out by mom and dad," more likely their father honestly, "then you gotta make it worth my effort." Honestly she wasn't really looking for much of anything, but she was also curious to see what her sister might come up with. "Speech" |

Cal is half-tempted to snap at her sister as the older girl keeps pace with her. It would be best if everyone realized that she liked her little bubble and wouldn't tolerate others getting into it. Her ears flick back slightly as she lets out a snort. Flurry? What a dumb name, ha. However, her interest is picked back up when her sister says she might let her try. One brow is raised as she glances at Flurry from the corner of her eye. Though her siblings were always willing to get into scuffles with it, getting into one with her older sister would be a new challenge. Probably nothing like the silly fights that their dad did with her where she could tell he was going easy on her.
She purses her lips as she thinks of something for Flurry to receive if she wins. If she won. Cal stops in her tracks and scoots the seashell closer to Flurry. It is a a darkly colored calico scallop shell. Looking up at her sister, she points a paw toward the medium-sized shell. "That can be yer prize. It kinda looks like you too," she says with a small impish smile and a wave of her tail. "Deal, Funky?" The pup adds on for extra annoyance.

Flurry could tell she was pushing the girl's buttons a bit but she found it more amusing than anything else. She wasn't going to push her luck here though, no matter the girl's size she wasn't looking to antagonize her sister into destroying her ankles. She watched with open interest as her sister tried to come up with an answer. The younger girl stops and pushes something towards her and Flurry has to lean down slightly to get a better look at what had just been presented to her. A seashell. It wasn't exactly valuable, or like she couldn't find more just like it... They lived on islands, seashells were everywhere but she hadn't really been looking for much at all anyways. "All right tiny, you got yourself a deal." Hey if her sister was gonna keep saying her name wrong, then she'd take advantage of not knowing the girl's name as a good excuse to get her own small dig in. Flurry rose to her full height, gently pushing the shell out of the way and bound away from her smaller sister, putting some distance between them, before she spun around to face the girl. She'd made sure the stretch of sand between them was more or less clear of anything that could do some serious damage to them, especially her sister. "Show me what you got!" She taunted lightly, shifting her stance to a more defensive one. Even if she probably didn't need to worry about it too much. Flurry vs Calliope for a pretty seashell spar Round 0/? The pup watches her sister lean down to get a good look at the shell. Was it not good enough? She almost lets out a 'tch' but holds back when Flurry looks at her and agrees to the conditions. Her ear twitches backward and her lip trembles into a small snarl at the word tiny. She was anything but tiny. Just look at her other littermates! They were minuscule compared to her! Instead of retorting back, Flurry gave her no chance so she simply rolled her eyes and waited for her older sister to finish putting distance between them.
Calliope looks over Flurry, raising a brow to the taunt, as she tries to figure out where an attack would be best. Still being quite young, it would be impossible to reach the older girl's face. Plus there was the matter of those fangs and horns. Hm. Her eyes lower to her sister's chest and legs. That seemed to be the most logical area, but would that be too obvious? Suppose she wouldn't know unless she tried!
Without wasting any more time, Calliope bursts forward across the packed sand. Quickly covering the distance between herself and Flurry, she darts to the right as she nears her sister. Continuing a few more steps past Flurry's left side, Cal aims to shove her shoulder against Flurry's left hind leg in hopes of making her stumble slightly. If that doesn't work, she takes another step toward Flurry's rear and jumps up to try and grab ahold of Flurry's tail. Ha, she wouldn't see that coming!

Flurry watched as her sister dashed forwards and she considered simply sidestepping the girl, let her stumble over her own paws but it seemed the colorful girl had decided she wasn't going for a frontal assault either. Flurry dug in, twisting her paws into the sand to plant herself harder, not that she expected the girl to be actually strong enough to move her much anyways. For the better as she felt a small shoulder blade jam into her left hind leg which Flurry kicked out at on instinct more than real desire to hurt the younger girl. Her sister skirted around behind her and Flurry started to twist to look at her, just in time to see her tail get captured by tiny puppy teeth. Flurry winced and then she flashed her sister a grin. "Well I guess I did say I'd babysit." She quipped before she sought to tuck her tail hopefully with her sister still attached and sought to sit down on both her own tail and her sister. Though she wasn't slamming herself down or anything, she was simply hoping to pin her younger sister, not hurt her worse than any maybe winding her. As Calliope's teeth grasp around her sister's tail, she almost wants to let go so she can howl out of pure excitement. Take that sis! Wiggling happily as she hung from Flurry's tail, Calliope was sufficiently taken by surprise by the next motion. Suddenly, the swinging of Flurry's tail is sweeping between legs and under Flurry's belly. Calliope's eyes go wide as she watches as the sand is quickly growing closer to her. Before she has time to let go and scramble out of the way, Flurry is sitting atop her. "Hey, Fatty! This ain't a fight!" Calliope screeches though it is slightly muffled by her sister's fur. Wriggling and squirming, attempting to get out from under Flurry, Calliope aims to scratch at Flurry's legs. "Take that, ye scurvy dog!" Maybe she was learning a thing too many from her other sister, Siduri... |

Success! Flurry couldn't help the explosion of laughter, well she hadn't exactly expected it to work! The girl under her protested and Flurry laughed again, the girl's barbs glancing off of her, it was hard to be hurt by an insult when she was quite literally sitting on the one hurling them. "Whoever trained you didn't teach you too good, get your opponent under control and you control the fight." Flurry stuck her tongue out at the girl again, no one could argue that she hadn't done that to an extent here. Little claws scratched at her legs and though they didn't have the even half the bite Deluge's did it wasn't exactly pleasant. "Okay, okay." Flurry said, shifting her weight to begin to stand, though as she did she struck out her left hind leg again to try and kick her little sister away, not too had, just enough to push the girl far enough away that she wasn't in immediate ankle biting range anymore. Though she knew full well her toes were absolutely in jeopardy in doing so, sacrifices had to be made! Flurry vs Calliope for a pretty seashell spar "Speech" |

Calliope writhed beneath her sister. The sound of laughter shaking Flurry's form further infuriated the pup. She lets out a screech as she continues to struggle against Flurry's weight. "Ye got lucky!" Cal hissed, ears flattening against her head. How dare her sister get the better of her! Wait... until, ah, there's her opening! Flurry is coming to stand giving Calliope room to breathe. The pup doesn't waste time and scrambles to her paws. When Flurry strikes her paw out at Cal, she leaps forward and latches on. Biting down as hard as her puppy teeth will allow, she shakes her head for a few seconds before letting go. Taking a few steps back, blood lining her lips, she smirks up at her sister. "Didn' anyone ever teach ya not to underestimate yer opponent?" Cal hisses again before sticking out her tongue like the immature pup she was. |

Ow! Vicious little monster. Flurry frowned as she pulled her bleeding paw in and wiggling her toes to try and feel out exactly how much damage her brat of a sister had done. She'd live. Flurry turned to look at the girl, considering for a moment. Her sister was being an ass, which like, okay it wasn't like this pack wasn't full of assholes but her sister's level of aggression was a bit... Much. It'd do the girl good to learn to back off a little, Flurry wasn't sure she would be the one to teach her that but might as well try. Flurry stepped in towards her sister, towering over her in what she hoped felt too close to the girl. "Didn't anyone teach you that?" Everything about her was hard, her gaze down at the girl as she cast the girl in shadow, her voice which carried an edge of a threat. "Do you really think that I wouldn't have been able to hurt you if I really wanted to?" Her lips pulled back, the fun loving Flurry of only moments earlier gone as she did something she almost never did. She became serious. Had she ever actually barred her fangs at someone before? Had she ever actually stood like she was ready to do some serious violence before? Flurry leaned forwards, hoping to push herself into her sister a bit, just a bit of pressure. "I assure you, I never once underestimated you, nothing you did was surprising. I prefer my fights be fun but I am not above matching my opponent's energy." Flurry stood there for a moment longer before she pulled back, stepping back. "Luckily for you I'm picking fun." There was still an edge to her voice but the threat was gone, was she technically conceding? Yes. And then it was like the old Flurry was back. "Enjoy your bragging rights tiny." She tossed her sister a wink and made her way back towards the deeper parts of the pack, she had to find someone to look at her paw and make sure her sister wasn't rabid or something. -Exit Flurry unless stopped- "Speech" |
