The gods had blessed him, truly. His pack. His family. All of it. The viking king feels the mantle resting on his shoulders, heavy but comfortable. It's beautiful, and with their help he's brought together something incredible. A proud man. Of course, who wouldn't be? Really, Víðarr seems to radiate with that pride. A beautiful wife and soon... more. Their own. Finally, it seemed things would be coming together.
Perhaps even more than usual, Víðarr goes out of his way to care for her. Tenshi is always on his mind, but now? It seemed even more so. The viking king had business to attend to, sure, but she's the most important business of all. Maybe that's why he's gone out of his way to surprise her, especially on the first truly warm spring day. Summer would be here soon enough, bringing the stickiness and the heat with it. Better to enjoy the nice days while they still had them. Laying out an early picnic dinner for his wife on one of the more accessible but still scenic ledges... this seemed nice.
Setting about laying the picnic out, he sends Månsken for her. The little owl leaving at about the same time he begins to set up, the viking king should be fully set and sorted by the time Tenshi arrived.

Tenshi is resting with Valtiel in the den when Månsken comes to find her. Lifting her head to blink at the owl, she listens to the request with a growing smile. Ah, a surprise for her? Did Vidarr ever cease to amaze her? Loosening herself from Val's side because comforting the woman was an important piece of the job these days, Tenshi leaves with silent paws. Surprising to her, they do not crunch with the sound of ice beneath her weight. Glancing around, she notices how warm it is. How lovely the weather feels against her and her growing abdomen. Letting out a sigh and giving her coat a good shake, she follows the small owl up around the weaving paths to a small scenic ledge.
As she approaches, she spies Vidarr laying out a nice picnic that looks perfect. A happy rumble vibrates in her chest as she comes up beside the shadowed king. Rubbing her face along his neck and up to his own, she leans her shoulder against his. "How did you know I was hungry?" Tenshi murmurs into his ear before she pulls away and settles herself down by the spread. Getting comfortable, Tenshi looks up at Vidarr with a smile.

A surprise-- it's true! All Víðarr knows for certain is bite things and love his wife after all. And it's true, he loves his wife very much. The viking king takes care to make sure everything is perfect, setting the comfortable pelt over a nice mossy spot. Nice and comfy cozy, and then there was the food. Smoked meats, cheese, things that are hearty and will stick to their ribs. She's eating for... several at this point, Víðarr knows that much.
Tenshi arrives right on schedule, and the shadowed creature turns with a little glimmer in his eye. Dipping his head, offering a brilliant smile. His broad head gently pushing against his wife's, holding gently to her. An embrace, a warmth. A rumble somewhere deep in his chest-- there were emotions in him. No emotion Víðarr feels is for the faint of heart. This is more intense than any he's ever experienced, though. By the gods, he loves his wife in ways he never knew possible. "What kind of husband would I be if I could not tell?" Okay, it was an educated guess, but Víðarr tries really hard.
Gesturing broadly to the smoked meats, the smoked cheeses, the tea laid before them, the viking king smiles. "Please, eat." Maybe his tone is hushed, just a little. Reverence for the woman beside him. A simp for his wife, but who wouldn't be? Víðarr himself takes a bite of smoked cheese, a happy little twitch to his tail. That was lovely, really. "How are you doing?" It's an earnest question. They had time and space to themselves, and he cared about her. Perhaps there was an answer he was hoping for, but regardless of what happened, Víðarr loved her. Loved her more than anything. She's what matters most.

Tenshi would not need to be told twice to dig in. After the realization that she was carrying the future of Heidinn, her stomach would rumble more often than usual. Reaching for a piece of smoked meat, she sighs in both relief and savoring the flavor, thankful that it isn't making her hungry stomach upset. Closing her eyes for a moment, she finishes swallowing before looking to Vidarr.
"Couldn't be happier," her own hushed voice is a pleased murmur, her tail thumping the ground lightly beside her. "It is still early, but the healers say the pups are doing well," Tenshi can't hide the smile as she looks away to grab another piece of cheese and meat. As much as she wants to revel in the happiness that is puppies and their future, there was still something that needed to be addressed.
"Val," she starts and pauses, her gaze looking back up at Vidarr. "She wishes to bed in her own den, but I am not sure I am comfortable with that. I worry for her wellbeing, both physical and mental, but I understand her want for her own space," Tenshi lets out a sigh and gives her head a little shake. "Ultimately, I believe it will be a better choice to let her have her own den. I do not want... our good news to further break her heart," her voice grows even quieter as she stumbles over the last words. What kind of queen would she be if she shoved the puppies in the face of a newly widowed mother?

She eats, and the viking king joins her. He's never been shy about that appetite, and he's never needed to be. The gods had given them gifts beyond measure, had rewarded them for their hard work. Víðarr would never be ungrateful for that. The pups-- he beams at the mention of the pups. Though the viking king is accustomed to playing his cards carefully, keeping them close to his chest, this is different. Everything they'd worked for was coming together beautifully. He can't help but watch Tenshi where she sits, quietly in awe of her. She's happy. Above all else, that's what matters to the viking king. Tenshi is happy, she is healthy, the pups were doing well.
And there was the question of Val. "I told her you had the last word on it." his tone is thoughtful, words quiet. The thought of Val moving out lit up all the possessive places in his brain in a way that the viking king didn't like or understand quite yet. "But you have a point about our good news." Begrudgingly, Víðarr nodded. He doesn't want to risk her already fragile heart even farther. "I want her den somewhere a priest or healer can see it." Far enough to not hear the pups, lest that hurt her further. Heathens are lost souls, it seems. The lot of them.
"Where do you think we should put her?" A question, as he mulled over the list of options in his mind. Unable to help himself, the viking king shifts closer to his wife. Casual, perhaps, but the closeness simply feels better. Life was more peaceful the closer she happened to be. Simp.

Tenshi continues to snack as she nestles in close to Vidarr. She is happy and content. Nothing can stop her from feeling so... happy. A thoughtful hum leaves her as she considers what they would do about Val. Whether Vidarr admits it or not, she can tell he's already taken a liking to the fae. It doesn't bother Tenshi. At least, it wouldn't bother her if she weren't pregnant. Yet, the hormones flare for a moment, her body tensing, everything in her brain screaming that she can't lose the father of her pups...
She takes another bite, breathes, and remembers that she's being silly. Val was no threat. No one would ever be a threat. If Vidarr had any sense about him that is. "We can put her somewhere close. Clear out that den next to ours. It's rather spacious and if you're careful, we could even connect it some day," Tenshi feels Vidarr lean closer and it helps settle her stupid emotions. She leans back into him, lets her eyes close for a moment. Letting out a sigh, she enjoys the feeling of his body against her's. "I'm sure you would like the privacy too," the Viking Queen whispers as she twists her chin and licks along the line of his jaw.

His possessiveness over Valtiel comes from a different place than his possessiveness over Tenshi. His wife, his viking queen, the woman who was tangled to him within the red string of fate-- all that. That is Tenshi, and she is his. Though she goes stiff for a heartbeat, Víðarr is quick to press his muzzle behind her ear, knock his cheek against hers. Nothing would come between them, Víðarr wouldn't allow it. Val had been placed in their path by the gods, there was no other way for him to interpret the things he saw. She was their responsibility now, and no harm would come to her, even if he had no idea why she'd been put here in the first place.
As the moment seems to pass through her, Víðarr eats as well. Nodding softly as she speaks, considering the close-but-not-too-close nature of the den. It's a good thought, and the viking king gives a nod and a rumble from somewhere deep in his chest. "How did I end up with a wife as beautiful as she is intelligent?" Appreciative, possessively curling around the woman. Víðarr can't argue, appreciative as he places a playful bite, and then another, on his way up to kiss her. "I... will be glad that I don't have to be so civilized." Víðarr's chuckle is warm, all tenderness where he rests beside her.
