Siduri & Kenway Fighting Summer 20 Seasonal
Summer was hot. So fucking hot that Calliope hated it. No, loathed it. Call her the Grinch because she hated it as much as he hated Christmas. Her heart was probably three sizes too small as well which would mean it was smaller than his. No room left for anyone except maybe her parents and siblings. That was a BIG except because most days, it didn't appear that she even liked them either. A distasteful expression and begrudging acceptance that she had to be around them until she was at least two. That was the rule and Abraxas dammit, they weren't even one yet! How was that fair?! It wasn't! Want to know what else wasn't fair? Being The wind was something to be desired. Forcing Cal to do most of the rowing since well, she was bigger and stronger so it was just faster if she did the work. With Sid yelling obscene pirate nonsense and Ken admiring the clear blue sky, Cal couldn't help but almost secretly enjoy herself. Though the heat was excruciating and made her fur feel blistering hot, she wasn't in a completely sour mood by the time they beached not on Obsidian shores, but on a plain that interwove with mangroves and brackish water. "Land ahoy, mateys!" Cal shouted, standing up to all four and leaping off the raft with not exact elegance or grace. Water splashed up behind her and whether or not her siblings toppled over into the water wasn't her exact concern... yet. Not until she heard a rather menacing sounding hiss. A hiss that sounded all too alike a snake she knew could be deadly. Standing knee deep in the brackish water, Calliope spins to face beached raft and her siblings. From a few feet away, she can see the large body of a snake swimming its way toward them. SWIMMING? Cal's eyes open and her mouth goes agape. Since when do those slithering beasts SWIM? "G-guys, uh, uh we gotta problem," Cal stutters, not because she's scared (Scared? Her? Never!) but because man, that thing is fast! Looking from the long slithering titan of a snake to her "I got this!" Cal shouts as she leaps through the water to meet the snake and surprise it by splashing water toward its face. With the snake recoiling from the sudden attack of water, Cal takes her chance and wraps her front legs around the snake's head and holds on for dear life as she begins to thrash around with the enemy, hoping she doesn't drown. |
Warning: Calliope is callous, rude, and unpredictable. Do NOT expect nice things from her.
You're not feeling so well...

Kenway couldn't quite place his paw on it. Maybe it was just the weather making the air feel so thick and heavy, but his mother, who had always tried to be nice, even when she could barely breathe seemed... harder than he remembered... Although, he couldn't remember seeing her outside of the room until recently so maybe this was how she always was outside of their home? Maybe it was just that they were getting older and she wanted to set them up with some survival skills? It was all above his head and he shrugged it off, falling in step with Cal and Sid as they made their way towards the beach.
So, when they were encouraged to get out of the building and go play, his eyes lit up with the opportunity. He'd gone all the way to obsidian beach with his mumma and Deluge and Sakana, maybe they could go explore somewhere new together? Sid was always happy to be the life of the party, and Cal was happy to do the hard work so when they finally came to an agreement on where to go, Ken took the opportunity to flop on his back on the raft, chiming in occasionally with a line from a shanty here and there but mostly just taking the opportunity to make out shapes in the clouds, allowing the rocking of the waves to lull him into a light doze.
When Cal called out 'Land a'hoy! and rocked the raft with her exit, he was unceremoniously dumped into the surf half asleep. He flailed and thrashed and choked, emerging from the surf with a splutter, golden eyes wide as the cacophony of thrashing and splashing and his sisters growls made it through his waterlogged ears. Finally, he spotted it, roiling coils of muscle, his sunset coated sister holding onto the beasty just behind its head. "S-s-sea serpent!" Kenway raised the alarm, having not heard Cal's earlier shouts on account of almost drowning. It was so big! But there were three of them, right? So they should be able to manage it, and then maybe they can do something with the skin if they don't tear it up too bad...
Kenway sees the way the snake thrashes it's body to try and wrap around his sister, and he lunges, grabbing hold of the tail and digging his paws into the sand. If he can stop it from crushing Cal, and get it up on dry land, then maybe it would make felling the beast a bit easier... but he hadn't anticipated just how strong the bloody thing was! A whole giant ass snake of almost pure muscle. He let go of the tail and adjusted his grip to bite further up the snake's spine and threw all his strength into pulling. At least this way, it had less to wrap around his sister. Downside was, he could feel the bit he had let go beginning to squeeze around his midsection, reducing him to smaller gasps of air and making his head go light.

When mom told them to get lost, Sid had zero problems with that, immediately suggesting that they find a badger to follow. Those little bastards always managed to get her lost. Her siblings weren't on board with following a badger, but they had to go somewhere else anyway, so onto the raft they went.
Cal paddled because she had the biggest paws. Ken took a little rest and Siduri sang bawdy tunes and spewed random ass words, most of which she didn't know the meaning of. How did she know the words then? They just appeared in her head. Were they real words? Who knew? Who cared? It was fun either way. Words or no words, as long as it was done with confidence and style, then anything could be made into something.
Once they hit land, according to Calliope, Siduri jumped off of the raft and into the surf. Even the water felt too warm up this close to land. She didn't like it and wondered if the deeper water would be cooler. She'd almost turned to swim back out and find out when Cal yelled. Oh yeah... this was about to be an adventure for sure.
Ken yelled 'Sea serpent' and Siduri crowed with laughter. It was just a snake. Smaller than the one that she and her dad had killed together, but still pretty big in comparison to the trio of young wolves. Cal jumped for it, wrapping herself around its head and Ken began trying to help. Soon both siblings were wrapped up in thick, muscled coils. Well... she supposed that she should help them. Dad might be a little upset if she let her brother and sister get murdered on her watch.
The pastel girl rushed forward, nearing Calliope. "You have to tear off its head!" That's what dad had done. It took her a minute to find an opening, but the snake thrashed just right. Sid darted forward, wrapping her jaws around the snake, just behind its head. Lower canines bit into its throat and the reptile didn't like that. It released its hold on both Cal and Ken, choosing instead to use its bulk to try and scoot backwards into the water. It pulled Siduri with it and, through her mouthful of snake meat, she growled. "HEWP!"
With Siduri on one side, Cal on the other and Ken keeping the coils in line, they soon had scaley skin ripping away, revealing pink flesh and red blood. The pair of sisters ripped and tore and with one final tug, the head gave way. Siduri flew backwards with the snakes head in her mouth. She rolled several times with the force of the beheading and ended up covered in sand and blood. One eye was squeezed shut so she didn't get granules of sand in it, but with the other, she looked over her brother and sister.
The snake had thrashed for a little while without its head, but was now still and dead. Hefting herself from the sand, Siduri moved into the surf and washed off her face. The waves had turned red from the snakes blood, but red water was better than sand in the eye. With a little shake to rid herself of excess water, Sid looked to her siblings. "Do you think that's enough adventure for mom?" After all of that, the girl was more than a little tired. Maybe they could find some shade and take a nap.
