raid meeting!
They needed a change of pace. The new batch of pups were nearing close to a year so it was high time they get introduced to raids. Their next target had already been decided and while Gil wouldn't admit the full reason behind it, he was eager to see how it went.
Making his way to the courtyard at the front of the isle's main building, he enjoyed the warm breeze that rolled in off the ocean. While his personal life was in slight shambles, he wouldn't allow his pack to fall. He would keep leading them to the best of his ability and if that meant causing some trouble, he would do it gladly.
Lifting his muzzle to the sky, Gil called out for any and all raiders that wished to participate.

Modesty was not a fighter, and she wasn't exactly over her illness, but with more brats than bodies at this point in time, she would throw her support behind the pack if she was needed. She made her way down the stairs and into the courtyard and sat by Gil's side, wondering just how many others would show to throw their hats into the ring, so to speak. She knew the kids were almost old enough, but did they have enough confidence to join them? Or would they be best waiting until the next round of raids? Only time would tell she supposed.

It is been a few months since the last raid and Calico Jack has been itching to get his teeth bloody again. As his relationship blossoms with Rivin, the young man has found himself growing lax in his duties to Gilgamesh and he has vowed to make himself more useful to the King and his pack. So, when the call for a raid meeting reaches his ears, the calico-hued male is more than happy to answer. The day is nice and warm so of course he been swimming in the water that surrounds the Isle but he is quick to propel himself toward the shoreline.
Once he is free of the water’s embrace, Jack moves up the beach only to pause and give his coat a nice, long shake. Fat drops of water fly every-which-way and, after several minutes, most of the water is free from his form so he deems himself presentable. With that done he races across the sand to where the meeting is taking place and only slows when the courtyard comes into view. With a grin tugging at his maw, the young man trots into the area and plops his butt down without a word.
His icy gaze sparkles with excitement as he looks at Gil and Modesty, his chest puffing out slightly as he waits to hear what their target will be.

Sakana wasn't a fighter, but they weren't so flush on able bodies that he would just sit back and hope enough showed up to do their part, it would also be important information for him to have, where they were going, what supplies he would need to have on hand. He wasn't above getting his paws dirty if required... But as he approached the gathering... Oh shit. He realised his services might be required before they had even left the island. He made no secret of the way his eyes darted back and forth from Modesty, to Jael and back, reclining back to lounge sphinx-like, here if he was needed, here if he wasn't.

Things had been... strange since Jael came. Ken couldn't quite put his paw on it, he was mostly too excited to see his mum up and out of bed, and Sakana had moved across the pool, and the young boy had spent what felt like hours staring at the map that hung from his wall. There was really that much out there?
So when dad called, well you can bet the boy got a wiggle on, tearing into the gathering, ignorant to the tension that you could cut through with a blade. He slid until he bumped against his parents legs and looked up to them both with a wide grin and clear hearts in his eyes. This was the best day ever! But what was the meeting for? He quickly scrambled over to pounce on Sakana, gently grabbing a mouth full of ear and giving it a tug. "Wosdisabou?" He was trying to whisper with his mouth full.
"speech"Things still weren't quite... Normal yet Flurry wasn't sure they ever could be for her again but she was still here, still wanted to be here and maybe deep down she also hoped a raid would make her start feeling like her old self again. Not that it could help with the whole her parents having one of the strangest and frankly most upsetting fights she'd even seen. Flurry loved her mother, and hadn't been aware of all her father had been up to prior to and during her own absence but... Well, she couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him, clearly he was not having a great time (which she'd contributed to) and her mother was... Volatile suddenly, and it unnerved her. Maybe that was why when she made her way to the slowly growing gathering she pushed her way up to her father's other side, settling on the opposite side of her father as her mother had, giving him an awkward sidelong glance and a slight smile. A sign of her support for whatever it was worth right now, before she turned to watch those already gathered and those that would show up, chuckling softly at her younger brother harassing Sakana and wondering which of her other siblings would be making the trip with them this time. Tarnish rolled onto his back, trying to blink the sleep from his eyes. Shiiiitttt…. how long had he been sleeping? He wasn't normally the lazy sort but staying out late last night hunting and scouting meant sleeping in way later than he had planned. He rubbed at his face with his paws but still he felt sleep pulling him back down, until he heard his father howl. Tar's eyes snapped open. A Raid? Oh shit!
Tarnish scrambled to his feet and darted out the den toward the source of the call. Worc appeared flying above him, chastising him for sleep in so late. "Oi! Fuck off, I was tired ok!" The crow only cawed with laughter at the reply.
He arrived to see his mom and dad as well as a few of his siblings. He bounded over to Kenway and plopped down next to Kenway and Sakana. His eyes paused on Jael and he cocked his head to the side for a moment. What a weird looking wolf!
A Raid! Sid, sneaky little bugger that she was, had nosed around and had heard talk of a raid. That's all that any of them had heard about from the moment that they were born. Raids! Raids! Raids!
Gilgamesh howled for any who might want to participate and Sid chucked the poultice that she'd been working on into the dirt. They're were more important things than healing! She wanted to... uh...UNHEAL!
Racing towards the courtyard, the girls vibrant eyes scanned the crowd. Who else wanted to spill blood? Her gaze landed on Flurry and the pastel child launched herself at her older sisters side. "Avast! Time to rape and pillage and steal all of their ducks right out from under them! I'll smash their skulls! I'll rip their grandparents limb from limb! I'll piss on their cabbages!" The excitable beast locked eyes with Gil and waved furiously. "HELLO, FATHER!"
This was what they had been preparing for since last season. Though they weren't quite yet a year, their father believed them to be capable enough to hold their own in a raid. Calliope couldn't deny she felt excited when she heard her father's call ring out. Except she wasn't going to be the first one there. Nope. If she appeared too eager, it would give her siblings room to bully her. And that would never happen if she had anything to say about it. So instead, Cal hung back by the building as she watched the rest filter on toward her father. She noticed her brothers and sisters show up with only a few missing. Good, good, it would be more fun with all of them. Even Kaija and Jael and that other splotchy boy showed up as well. What was his name? Jace? No, didn't sound right, but she didn't right care either. Seemed as if she were the only one missing as the rest stood around. Well, time to get the party started! Stretching out her legs, Calliope took her sweet, sweet time to get up and wander over to the group. Looking around them all, she decides to plop herself at her mother's paws, legs stretched out, chin tilting upward toward them with a daring smile. "Sid's got the right idea, doesn't she?" Her tail beats against the sand as she leans against Modesty's legs. |
Warning: Calliope is callous, rude, and unpredictable. Do NOT expect nice things from her.
Gilgamesh is surprised, but also pleased when Modesty appears. He smiles as she sits beside him, leaning in to bump his shoulder against her briefly. In the next few moments, a familiar koi-appearing kid approached and Gil smiles at him too. "Long time no see, kid," Gil says to Jack, nodding his muzzle to the boy, hoping he understands that he's both pleased and displeased. Where had he been running off to so much lately?
Next came Jael and Gil freezes for a moment. He watches silently as the dog comes over and goes to sit, but not beside him. A brow raises slightly, but he doesn't address her or her choice. Then is Sakana who sits off to the side, a simple nod to the boy. His son, Kenway, goes to plop on top of Sakana, asking what this was all about. Gil can't help but smirk. Oh was he about to find out.
When Flurry arrives, he leans over to her and bumps her with his shoulder to show that he appreciates her effort. Tarnish came soon after, plopping down on top of Ken and Sakana and Gil can't help but chuckle. Boys. After that was Kaija who he also dipped his muzzle to, pleased that she decided to show up to attend a raid. Gil was excited to see how she fared.
His attention is soon ripped over to Sid who is suddenly launching herself at Flurry. Her excitable shouting has his eyes widening and a deepening laugh bubbling in his chest. "Greetings, Great Pirate King, Siduri. I hope you have come prepared," he responds, lifting a paw to salute the young pup. Last but not least is Calliope who stretches out in front of Modesty. Her daring smile and devious look has him slightly concerned, but he doesn't address it.
Once the group is all settled, Gil turns his attention to them. "Now that we've had a chance to settle in and take stock what we have here, it's been brought to my attention that we are lacking a source of constant food. If prey runs out, we'd have to go to the mainland for food. That is too much effort so instead, we will be raiding for some livestock. I've received a tip that the auster pack, Ethne, has quite a supply of chickens. I'm sure they won't mind us taking a few," Gil's smile widens as he moves to stand and give his fur a shake. "Alright, no time to waste. Let's head out."
