Maki wasn't entirely sure what all the yelling was about or why they were cowards. Admittedly, she hadn't thought about this much at all and was just caught up in the flow. In the action and drama of it all- like a lot of things in life it sounded thrilling in theory but in practice when someone was running at her like they wanted to beat her with her own tail? Well, the natural thing to do was scream, of course. "AH!" Right in the Norad wolf's face, with an added paw flail to hopefully (probably not) ward her off so she didn't knock Maki flat on her arse.

Úlfr's jaws snapped shut over his intended target, catching the girl's head and keeping her nose horn from doing serious damage. She flailed and twisted, kicking out wildly. Several of the kicks connected with his chest and he leaned to hold her out a little bit farther while also standing up, hoping to lift her off the ground. This was not a hold he could keep for long and now that he had the girl he hesitated. In a more vicious fight he'd shake her like a ragdoll but something in him told him that would not be right to do. He was a violent marauder, but he didn't care to add shaking baby's to his list of crimes. Above him his crows laughed and cawed. Feeling his grip begin to wane he dipped his head, risking bringing her squirming body closer, before he attempted to toss her away from him, jaws releasing as he threw his head forward.

Beauregard feels fangs continue to tear through his neck. There is pain, blood mingling with the rain as it continues to pour from the heavens. Around him he hears his packmates, the wolves that he has sworn to protect. Even Noelle, who shouldn’t have been on the battlefield at all… Beauregard growls, dropping his blade he holds to the mud. He will not falter, he will not give. He hears Blind break away from the shadow man with a string of curses as she avoids his dog, and Trill swoops overhead, her cries guiding the Artifex toward his next opponent. He has gone from anxious to angry. These wolves came to test them? To take what did not belong to them? His pack, as much as Beauregard wanted them to avoid pain, to be safe, and here they were, even non fighters, standing with him to protect their home. If the invaders were to win, it would not be an easy earned victory. They were going to have to fight for it.

“Give them hell, Norad! If they want what is ours, they will work to claim it!” His voice cuts through the dark, a rallying cry for his wolves. They want to attack a pack still rising? So be it. Surviving round one has given the man courage, and once more Artorias’ words come to his mind. He will stand to protect Norad and all its wolves. Not as a lone knight, but as a defender with his people. A snarl rips from his chest as he follows Trill’s cries to the next raider, aiming to smash into a yearling bigger than he was. Beauregard does not wish to cause lasting harm, but he does want to chase the raiders off. For now he only attempts his slam. He will only use as much force as he has to.

Astraios let his eyes take in the battles around him. Eyes wide with adrenaline and glory as he waited for a companion fight of his own. Waited, and waited. He let his stance settle, and trotted further into the lands, listening to the sounds of battle around him. Feeling something growing in his chest. He might be young, he might be a thrall. But he was still a worthy opponent! Or perhaps fate had simply been waiting. The leader of this pack won their fight against Vidarr. Strai watched in shock, and then bared his fangs as this winning wolf proceeded to charge at him.

He would avenge his leader.

As the silvery wolf slammed into him, Strai aimed to move his sharp cheek spurs down and hopefully into the smaller wolf. At the same time he extended his feline like claws and aimed to raised a paw and attempt to grab behind the knee of his opponent.

His slam lands, and Beauregard grunts as something sharp slice into his shoulder. A blade? A mutation. He does not know with the rain and dark. He snarls, both in pain and anger as he shoots to keep pushing into his opponent against the mud in an effort to literally push him back. Above them Trill calls out in warning as lightning flashes, just quick enough for Beauregard to shift his weight back as his light furred opponent grabs at his leg. Beau anchors down, attempting to resist the pull as he twists his head toward the younger male’s neck. Beauregard’ teeth seek purchase, hoping to grab the scruff and hold him before his larger foe lifts it back up after his slicing attack. But he will grab for what he can, praying he can get a hold as Blind dives at the yearling’s forepaw with jaws open. The only one who got to harass Beau was her!

Strai felt alive. More alive than he had in a long time. He blinked the rain from his eyes, relishing the cool liquid on his warming body. He felt his spurs meet resistance, and knew they had hit their mark. His second attack wasn’t so easily made, however. He felt the other set their balance, and he dug his sharp claws in tighter. Fighting them, pulling, caring not if he spilled their blood.

At the same time, he felt claws dig into his scruff, and he let out a snarl that vibrated through his body. The owl that he had adopted shot down from the sky on silent wings, and attempted to harry and dissuade the teeth in his scruff. As the arctic fox went for his paws, his leopard dove in, and attempted to grab at the white fur of the trickster.

She hadn't expected to get this far so when the uncertain voice called out to her to stop right there she was met with a questioning look rather than one of aggression. The girl was tiny and pale, and Róta lifted her head higher, hackles rising and tail lifting. She growled a warning for the girl to stand down. They certainly didn't have to do this over a few little plants. While others might have been here to taste blood, the Trygg woman just wanted to get this over with so she could crawl back into a bottle.

Róta stepped closer, crowding the smaller wolf. "Are a few flowers really worth your pretty hide?" She looked fierce, but her voice was soft, almost even flirtatious (if it wasn't obvious she was drowning under her own baggage). Her teeth flashed to gently close around the smaller wolf's muzzle, a token gesture, unless she really wanted to dance?

It felt like this one was different. Not that Mika cared too much when he was in the zone. Even if they had few to little fighters he trusted their members would put up a good fight. He had pups to defend and gods damnit he would do just that. And yes he remembered now he’d tussled with this pack alpha before and won. So be damned he’d try his best against their fighters. Not to mention he was used to fighting things bigger than him at this point.

It surprised him, his opponent pressed her limb into him going for an approach to use her size to her advantage. Mika kept his tail level since she wanted to play that way let her play that way. The male attempted to bite harder in his hold, wanting to cause pain if anything. Instead of fighting against her leaning weight he moved with it. Forcing himself back as he attempted to move with her movements. Unable to avoid a stomp on his paw the sudden pain made him jerk his right forelimb upwards, in that instance he attempted to hook his right forelimb over her left leg pushing his weight into her for a hopeful tumble. Damn she out spirit into it though and he had to respect her for that.

The invader stopped and looked at her with a questioning gaze, and before long, the woman's hackles and tail rode followed by a growl. Noelle suddenly realized that this was a bad idea. She was not a fighter by any means, but her heart couldn't just let them intrude and potentially hurt those that needed protection. In this case, the sickly woman inside her den was incapable of protecting herself, and the others were busy trying to fight off the rest of them. When Rota approached her, Noelle barely heard the words that were said as her lip trembled and she curled back in fear, body tense and ears laid back. She slightly turned her head to better see the woman approach her. The woman's voice wasn't full of venom or malice, but Noelle was too afraid to respond let alone reason. So when Rota moved to grip her muzzle, Noelle instinctively snapped her teeth at the other woman just before she scrambled halfway back into the entrance of her den, hackles on end as she cowered there. Despite her fear, she would do her best to protect what she could...and if she failed? At least Paradise had her companion as a second line of defense.

She raced upon the young wolf, and it seemed she took her by surprise. The yearling shouted in her face and flailed at her, causing Amory to falter just a tad, turning her head to the side to avoid paws flailing at her face, but she pushed on and decided to heck with it, she was still going to try and knock into her! She let her momentum carry her forward as she still aimed to bowl the girl over into the mud while also using the slick mud to her advantage, letting it slide her into the girl's body like she was trying to make it to 3rd base after hitting a home run. Jaws parted and her head turned as she then sought to grab onto a horn to yank the girls head toward her. She didn't want to hurt the yearling, but maybe a bit of whiplash would make her think twice? Tomie winced as the man clamped down on her limb but she wouldn't stop her approached, a tiny fleeting moment of satisfaction as he was forced to backpedal and her paw slammed into his. But he was quick to recover and wrapped that forepaw around the limb he held between his fangs. With a grunt that was more of a grumble, Tomie planted hard for a moment. Her free limbs spreading wider and she shifted her weight towards him but she wasn't trying to push further into him again instead she was shifting so she could swing her hips at him, hoping to hipcheck him right in the right shoulder and letting herself pivot on her toes. He had her leg in a tight grip so she had to be careful about how she proceeded and while she would never deny there was something of a thrill to battle Tomei's heart was no longer in it. She wanted to win sure, but she cared not a single wit if her loss hurt the pack. She was over it.

Maki wasn't sure what to expect, except that this wasn't going how she'd imagined it in her head. Not even close. Letting out an undignified oof as the Norad wolf bowled into her, Maki slipped on the wet mud and tumbled to the ground. Her legs kicked out wildly as she went down, looking more like a struggling break-dancer than someone with any fighting skill. At least her legs were long though, long enough to thunk against the others wolf's chest, though whether they'd catch on her legs and actually amount to anything was questionable at best. Trying was admirable and all but it could only get her so far, right?

Norad has no more wolves to fight and has lost the raid.

There was no joy in her victory, only a bitterness that had been stewing. She cast a glance at the man who'd been her opponent, her gaze softening slightly, the closest thing he'd be getting to an apology before she quickly cast her gaze about. Looked like they'd handily won. With a snort Tomie pivoted on her toes and left. The rest of them could go looking for flowers or whatever the fuck, Tomie wanted no part of it. She was done, fully done. She was going back to a place that was never home, and she was going to find her mother and sister and she was getting them out of there, one way or another.
