RAID!
Flurry wasn't really sure how it happened, she was so used to not winning that for a moment her victory failed to dawn on her. A few things happened as she started to realize her situation, the first is a grin split across her face, the next was remembering what they were here for and thinking to herself that she ought to try and slip further into the pack while she had a chance, and the last was she saw her sister. Siduri hadn't exactly had a good string of luck but the chunk taken out of the small girl looked bad. Like will leave a mark bad. All joy at her own victory was forgotten, instead her eyes snapped to the woman she'd seen Sid rushing towards and anger bubbled in her chest. They were only supposed to meet maims with maims (something her other sister would probably need to be reminded of but she wasn't focused on her right now) and Siduri was just a child. She was hardly a threat to a fully grown adult. Jaw locked and her whole demeanour shifting Flurry became someone she'd never been before. The thrill of battle had left her, all she had now was righteous anger. Flurry for the first time in her career was aiming to hurt her target. |

Tarnish's claws lashed out at the older boys face, forcing him to turn his head away and in doing so lifting his upper body to keep far enough away from the taller boy's long limbs. It was taking all his energy and concentration to keep the other's fangs from him. Out of the corner of his eye he could see his companion, Eyra, saunter over and sit down, licking his paw in the usual manner of a bored cat. "I think he's got you."
"The fuck he has! Eyra you're supposed to help me!" The cat said and did nothing while the anger burned hot in his stomach. But it was at that moment, past his companion he caught sight of Siduri slumping to the ground, bright red blood stark against her white fur. "SID!" His heart leaps in his throat and using the leverage of the boy leaning away from him and his hind legs on the other's lower abdomen, Tarnish slips out from under the older boy, dashing across to his sister. "She alive right! Jael?"
In many ways raids were just a game in his mind. They'd go and fight a bunch of strangers. It didn't cross his mind that anyone could ever die from a fight but seeing his sister's limp form made him suddenly feel sick to his stomach.

The anger that came at her had Bellamy snap her head and lift her lips in response. “I will do what I must to defend my family from cowards attacking us in the dead of night!” Her words were cold, filled with venom. Rationality had left her. The woman was drifting before herself, old nature as a slave coming back to her. ’You fight to maim, because if you don’t make them back off, they’ll kill you. And none of us will care.’ The mother Bellamy had become was gone. She no longer saw this as a mere raid. This was an attack on her family. Her family that had already lost one member to cruel fangs. A member who never wished to cause pain on anyone. Was her anger justified? In some ways perhaps. Bellamy was defending her family, but the line between moral and justified had become blurred. It didn’t matter who crossed her. She had given the child a chance to back down. In her eyes they were the cowards crossing to attack her family under cover of darkness and rain. What right did they have to preach to her about how she defended her borders?! As the two wolves flew at each other Whiskers would move to intercept the cat. Bellamy was in the wrong, yes, but her loyalty had long been to the woman. If her loss of self under Acere had been bad, this was far worse. Bellamy was slipping, losing herself to rage and doing whatever she needed to protect her family. It hurt the badger’s heart. Bellamy meant well but the way she was going about it was only promising the old wolf an early grave. Kicking from the ground the badger sought to bodily check the cat and keep her away from the older she wolf. Bellamy felt the horns crash into her neck, stumbled, but in her adrenaline, in the rage she found herself consumed by, the woman would bounce back like the berserker she was. Fuck defenses. Tear into them. Make them leave. Defend her family before more were lost. Bellamy tossed herself back at the other wolf, care of injury gone. Any concept of thought… gone. Her eyes were wild, spit flying from her mouth as the femme snapped in the direction of the girl’s shoulder - a matching maim for the rainbow one, perhaps? There was no thought. There was the need to fight. To make her opponent bleed. And nothing more. |

Bellamy has two companions - a Tasmanian devil and an American badger. Unless otherwise mentioned IC, assume that they are close by.
The dark pup he had been fighting tries to scratch at his eyes and Jericho wrenches his neck upward while simultaneously lifting his upper body up and away. Eyelids form slits and Jericho is able to avoid any really damage to his eyeballs which has him huffing a sigh of relief. Suddenly, the stranger who is latched onto him uses his injured body to propel them self across the muddy ground and away from the bleeding defender. Grunting as the claws dig into his gut before releasing and he staggers slightly but takes it a sign of defeat from the attacker.
His stomach is now a mass of bloody scratches and pain begins to poke at his brain but the boy does not leave the battlefield just yet. Shutting away the pain, his white eyes land on the man who had led this raid to their doorstep and Jericho sets his defenses once more. Ears pin back as his eyes narrow and hackles bristle while he mentally prepares for his next fight. Without a word he launches himself across the battlefield, dodging the bodies of others in various stages of fighting and leaving the field, as he makes a beeline for the taller man.
Legs churn as he races up to the calico-hued man and, once he is in range, the boy launches himself up toward the stranger’s face. Teeth flash as he seeks to bite any piece of flesh that comes into range while a throaty growl rolls from his mouth. Not the nicest of greetings but hey, they had very rudely woken him up! Blood mixes with rain water and fills the air around Jericho with the copper scent of his own blood. Heart thunders in his breast as he takes on the Alpha, knowing that it is a long shot but still hoping to seek revenge for his pack.

Clearly the older woman was lost and beyond any reasoning. They were here for chickens, not her brats, and her family were only in as much danger as they chose to put themselves in as far as she was concerned. (She frankly didn't have the emotional control anymore to realize that stealing livestock was still y'know... A threat to the pack's livelihoods, they don't call it blind rage for nothing.) But Flurry clamped down on any instinct to verbally push back, she wasn't going to bother wasting her breath, not when the woman showed no remorse for tearing a chunk out of a child less than a year old. It was the same rage she felt when she thought of Azure. The puppy kicker and the puppy maimer, what a pair they made, Flurry hoped they'd be happy together in hell whenever they got there. Her horns connected and Flurry snapped her head up just in time to see her opponent bouncing back and she shifted, spreading her legs and digging herself in. Distantly she heard the cat yowling (It had been intercepted by the badger who it was now taking some weak swipes at while hissing). Flurry made a decision, she didn't try to dodge or block the bite she simply aimed for the opposite shoulder on her opponent, jaws seeking purchase so she could hopefully pull and rip, take the same pound of flesh from the older woman as she'd taken from Sid. Flurry grunted in pain as fangs tore into her shoulder, and almost on instinct she flashed her forepaw up, hoping to slam her wrist into her opponent's throat, get her to let go even as Flurry sought to make the same bite she was now enduring. Paws slammed the ground, and she supposed it was enough to scare the little wolf away. At least enough where she didn't need to worry about it much anymore. Grunting and taking a deep breath, she glanced at the poor tree she had hit and frowned. Damn. She didn't know her strength. She offered a sheepish grin to the kid as she realized this because that could've easily been the Raider pup and she wasn't trying to kill him or seriously injure him. "Oops, sorry! Saga doesn't know her strength..." cleared her throat as she turned away from Kenway, searching the area to see what was going on. She had missed the rest of her mom's fight, but she could hear shouting and smell increased anger and rage. What had happened? Suddenly, the invading wolves seemed big mad! Why though? They were the ones that decided to attack her pack! Ugh...she'd never understand the wolf's way at this rate! She rarely spent time with wolves outside of her immediate family. This was probably one of the rare instances she had interacted with an outsider. Looking around, she spotted another young wolf that reminded her of half her family! She was splotched with rainbows and was very pretty! Okay okay, she wanted to brawl with that one! Lumbering toward the girl, Saga splashed mud as she charged. Grunting as she approached, she figured she ought to...probably hold back a little bit since she wasn't going up against an adult...or so it seemed like it. Instead of slashing with her claws, she used a large paw to scoop a big wad of mud up in an attempt to fling it at her would-be opponent, though she kept her momentum up to follow the cannonball-sized mud glob to add pressure into getting her to back up or fall. Pleased with her victory, Calliope turns to survey the scene. Nearly every wolf appeared to be entangled with someone else. Well, who was she to fight? It is then a loud grunt and the tremble of mud beneath her draws her attention to the massive polar bear. As she turns, her eyes widen for a moment. The bear is heading for her.
“Avast!” Is all she can yell out into the rainy night before the clump of mud is being throttled toward her. The thick, dense, sticky, wet clump of mess splatters all over her pastel face and causes her to stumble backward. She can’t even retort as the debris filled her agape mouth. Fury bristles through her but it’s hard to see through the downpour and shadows.
After she can see just enough to find something, Calliope scoops a rock up into her paw. Hurling it as hard as she can toward the bear, she suddenly feels no fear toward the massive ursine. It didn’t matter anymore who she was facing, she would knock this bear out too if she so put her mind to it!

In the moments after his mud ball slams square into Haydee’s face, Gil can’t hold back his laughter. Even though the fights around him are blossoming into violent maims and immature quarrels, he only focuses on the alpha before him. His ear flicks to the side, he’s still keeping tabs. He mentally notes the woman who maims his daughter, how Jael scoops her up, and where is his wife?
Haydee is making her exit and Gil takes that pause to look around. Was Modesty okay? The colorful brute she had wrestled seemed to be getting squashed by Kaija. Impressed by the raider, Gil’s eyes wrinkle at the edges. Pride swells in his chest as he sees Cal take down an older boy. He doesn’t miss the massive polar bear that beat on Ken before making way toward Cal. Who the fuck kept a polar bear in their ranks? That had been a surprise.
Aside from Sid, everyone else appeared to be in good shape. What he does notice now is Calico Jack… hugging his opponent? Were those tears or rain running in rivulets down his splotched cheeks? Anger bristles in him, he has half a mind to step in and knock both of them out but he’s given no chance. A younger boy is hurdling toward him with his own sort of fury.
Gil lifts a brow, but he doesn’t move from his sitting position. Butt still firmly planted in the muck, he watches the boy who looks quite similarly to Scald lunge up at him. As teeth flash through blood and rain, Gil reacts. He twists his upper body away, bringing up a leg to try and wrap it around the boy’s shoulders. If he can manage to snag the boy as teeth bite into his flesh, Gil will try and knock him out of the air onto the ground or even pin him beneath his paw.

Rain and mud were drenching her. She wouldn't doubt that she'd look more like an oversized brown bear before long. She had no idea what she was doing in this quarrel with whoever these wolves were. She hadn't been paying attention whenever these sorts of things were mentioned. All she knew was that they were trespassing, and as far as she was aware, trespassers weren't good. Protect her family. Protect their resources. And from what she gathered, the resource they were after was her sister's chickens. She couldn't say she was full of rage. She didn't know what that felt like. So when she flung that mudball and it hit her opponent square in the face, she couldn't help the grunting laughter that slipped out. But it stopped shortly after she saw the pastel girl throw a rock at her. Turning her head so it wouldn't hit her in the face, the rock smacked her shoulder with a dull thunk before dropping to the ground. "Ow! That wasn't very nice!" She chastised. She resumed her charge forward again, aiming to bellow into the girls face in an effort to rattle her before using her big head to swing toward the girl and knock her off her feet. Holding her ground against the massive beast, Calliope doesn’t let her eyes leave Saga. Bristling and stiffening, she watches as the bear steps forward. She refused to step down, step back, to retreat. Insistent on beating the bear for her brother, for her family, and for her pack. If Calliope had anything to say about it, they were going to win and take those damn chickens these fools seemed to love so much!
Saga’s bellowing roar flings spittle into Cal’s face causing her to scrunch up and let out a ’blech’ sort of noise. “ Anyone tell ya your breath stinks?” She sneers, lips curling up as she steps forward to meet Saga. An attempt at a ferocious roar wouldn’t force her to back down. Instead, as Saga swings her head around to try and bat it against her, Calliope lunges forward and tries to wrap her legs around Saga’s face. Hoping to meet force with force and if she can get ahold of the bear’s face, she aims to bite down on Saga’s ear, scrunch, face, anywhere.

Lunging up at the King that has disturbed his sleep, Jericho is surprised by the man’s counter attack. The leg wraps around his shoulder, causing him to fall short of his intended attack and it smacks him back down into the mud and gunk. Rolling as he hits the ground, the boy is able to avoid being pinned and he springs back up to his paws, ready to attack again. The thought of the bath that he knows his mother is going to force him to take after this brings a smile to his lips as he pauses a moment to look up at the taller man.
Shily, Jericho says, “My mom is going to be so mad about how dirty I am. What do you say we make her a little, extra upset?” Eyes dance with the joy of youth and life as mud coats his form, blocking out the rainbow colors of his side and marring his white splashed face that bares a smile. With a small laugh, he kicks off, coating his wounded belly with even more muck as he attempts to aim the spray that comes up behind him toward the Raiders King. Dashing away, he quickly sets his defenses before charging in again, this time lifting his front end up in an attempt wrap his forelegs around the taller male’s shoulders.
With a twinkle in his eyes, Jericho seeks to wrestle the bigger man to ground with nothing but sheer strength. Of course, it is a fool’s hope but still something the much more inexperienced boy attempts. What better way to learn how to fight than a trial by fire?

The other calico was determined to keep going, even with Gavroche clinging onto his leg. Tears stung the yearling’s eyes, a whimper falling from his lips. He wasn’t strong enough to stop the invader yet, but maybe he could reason with him? Gavroche let go, sniffling as he sat there in the mud and rain. “Don’t hurt them, okay? They’re good chickies…” The boy got to his paws. He might have lost this “fight” but he wasn’t done trying to reason with the raiders. But… he would need to be quick. Pain. Blood. She felt fangs tear through her shoulder, though this wasn’t the first time she’d lost so much flesh there. Bellamy tore back, panting, her gaze wild as she breathed hard. There was no thought, no feeling. A growl bubbled from her lips, gaze lifted to the femme who had bested her. A loss would not deter her. “If your pack shows again here, we will not hold back.” A threat that, even if Ethne is bested, they would continue to resist. To fight their hardest. It was the fault of the invaders, in her troubled mind, that had caused the retaliation they had received. Had they not come in the rain and darkness, thieves to take what wasn’t theirs, maybe things would have been different. Maybe she would have saw reason. But she was no longer sound, the weapon that had been forged in her youth. If her actions would discourage this pack from striking them again… then there would be no regrets. Bellamy turned tail, moving back into the territory. But she wasn’t heading for the falls. She needed time alone. -Exit.- |

The little winged wolf finally yields to the gentle pushing and leaves the battlefield which has Calico Jack sighing softly in relief. Looking over to where Gilgamesh sits, he realizes that the King has seen his gentle approach to fighting the tiny wolf… and he does not look pleased. Head snaps around as he growls at himself in annoyance, the tears no longer falling as shame now burns hotly in his cheeks. Sometimes, the tall young man thinks that is too soft for his own good but there was no way he was going to risk accidently injuring someone so small.
Turning away from the fights, Jack moves to boldly begin walk into Ethne territory, to claim their prizes when he spies a brown form lingering on the fringes of the fights. Eyes dart over to where his disappointed King fights someone new and he gives a soft growl of irritation to himself. Turning toward the stranger, he sets his defenses, lips peeling away from teeth as that shame he has felt since seeing Gilgamesh’s angry face makes him furious. Kicking off, he sends mud spraying up behind him as his long legs devour the distance between him and this… cowardly wolf.
Because, in Calico Jack’s mind, anyone who sits by and watches fight after fight break out without seeking an opponent, must be coward. Or, at least, that is what he tells himself to try and curb the outright misery he is feeling at having disappointed the only father figure in his life. He uses that strong emotion, forging it into a weapon and turning toward this stranger that he bears down on unmercifully. While he does not seek to maim, the young man does wish to humiliate this stranger so he can hopefully feel better about himself.
As he nears the brown stranger with the snow leopard tail, Jack snarls out, “Coward!” and seeks to slam into the them. At the same time, teeth flash as he attempts to grab ahold of their scruff so he can control this fight from the very get go. It does not escape the young man’s notice that he is giving voice to the very thing he is worried Gilgamesh must think about him now.

Gil pulls the boy to the ground and smirks as the youngster is covered in mud. Watching him roll away and successfully evading capture, Gil still doesn’t move. He sits and watches. He can see the light and the energetic youthfulness in the boy. It was a game to the boy and Gil is okay with that. He’s a father after all and the purpose of the raid wasn’t to seriously harm anyone. It sat better with him to call it more of a practice raid anyway - with a prize for them if they won.
As the pup stands, Gil takes a moment to assess the rest of the raid one more time. Jack is engaged again and Calliope is being bellowed at by the bear, he’s not worried yet, but is pleased with Flurry’s win. Maybe he won’t have to berate the older woman for being so outrageous toward a damn puppy. And by the look in Jack’s eyes, Gil can tell his demeanor has changed.
Distracted by taking a moment to ensure his group is okay, Gil is surprised when a wave of mud sprays up into his face. Sputtering loudly, he shakes his head and sticks out his tongue trying to rid his mouth of the forest debris. His eyes close and he’s trying not to laugh, trying to appear somewhat stern, but it’s not working. His resolve dissipates further when he suddenly feels paws grab ahold of his shoulders. Though the youngster isn’t strong or large enough to actually throw him to the ground, Gil flops over anyway. Taking the boy with him, Gil attempts to wrap his own legs around the boy and wrestle him further into the mud.
