Marrow

Marrow avoided the pack border. The moment she hit it she knew it was better to go around than risk getting into trouble so she started cruising along, her nose scenting the ground. Sheesh! Did they have the whole creek? Welp, this was going to be a long walk. Marrow set into the motions of traveling, her white fur stained with mud and sticking up in odd places. She'd been on the move for awhile now with little rest and little food, hunting for a safe place to settle down. As soon as she put distance between herself and the pack she'd settle in for a "WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!"

Marrow's hackles stood up as she saw a giant snake sliding up the bank. It was huge! Monstrous! She didn't even know snakes got that big and then it turned to look at her and she swore again. The snake lunged and Marrow lashed out with her claws, striking the serpent across the face and shoving its head away from her. Why was Auster always trying to kill her?

Home again with the thanks of his aunt, and feeling guilty for the fight she got in (even if it wasn’t really his fault…) the boy trotted along the edge of the territory, ears sloped downward as he thought about what had happened that day. The words of that rainbow girl bothered him still… Someone who hurt to feel alive… wasn’t there more to being alive than pain? A sigh passed his lips, green gaze shifting beyond the border… when he caught movement. Instinctively the yearling bristled. That thing was huge! Some of his relatives dwarfed him, but that thing was so big he was sure it would even give them trouble! And yet, watching it slither toward the edge of the territory, Gavroche felt the urge to follow it. He wanted to make sure it left Ethne for good…

…and then he heard the shout of another wolf.

Caution was tossed to the wind as Gavroche lunged into action. He didn’t have his blade, but the winged lad wasn’t going to let that stop him as he raced over the border at the tail end of the thing. He catches sight of the pale furred yearling, much bigger than he was, but that didn’t matter against something this big! With no fear Gavroche leaped on the snake somewhere in the middle of its length and sank his teeth into flesh. His digests splayed, seeking to hold onto the thing as it struck toward the girl. Its body writhed below him, curling inward as it detected another living creature… Gav wasn’t paying attention to that though as he sought to rip chunks from the snake and toss them away so he could get to more flesh.

Marrow

Marrow snarled, trying to make herself look bigger but it was clear the snake was unbothered by her size. She shouldn't have been surprised. The thing looked like it could eat a whole deer! Suddenly a strange four-legged bird dove on the middle of the snake, ripping into its flesh. Marrow didn't have much time to think on the oddity that was aiding her for the snake suddenly twisted in and she was drawn to an opening like a moth to a flame. The moment the snakes head turned from her she leapt, fangs latching over the creatures neck, just behind the skull. Her claws sank in deep but she could feel it writing, the coils twisting up to try and get around her body. She thrashed her head, hoping to do enough damage to either kill it or send it retreating.

Oof, this dumb monster sized snake was tough! It writhed beneath him, and he didn’t realize the way its body was moving until the tail was sliding past his face… Jolting up, Gavroche yelped in surprise as coils began to wrap around his smaller body. The snake wasn’t stopping there though, trying to get the girl he was helping as well, though she was in a far better position than the winged wolf was. His dexterous digits splayed against the scales of the creature as he sank in his teeth once more, clamping his jaws down as tight as he could in hopes the snake would let go. He could still feel it shifting, its body trying to tighten around his smaller form. His heart was pounding in his chest… would something of this size crush him in the same way he stepped on an insect killed it? He squeezed his eyes closed, trying to dig in with his claws and prayed to the Divinites above he wasn’t about to meet his end.

Marrow

Marrow flinched, her body shrinking curling up tight as she felt a coil trying to wrap around her torso. Oh hell no! Marrow bit harder, thrashing more wildly. She could feel her teeth sinking in deeper and deeper. Blood spilled down her neck. The coils were getting closer but her fangs dealt the final blow, severing key arteries to the serpent's brain. However, it didn't go slack immediately, it still twisted and writhed. Yuck! Marrow released her grip and wormed her way out of the creature's grasp before turning to the small winged boy. "Oi! You alive, little bird?" She shook the blood from her coat, licking at her chest for a moment to try and clean it up a bit.

The damned coils, they kept moving closer. It was restricting his movement, and Gavroche gave a growl as he ripped the flesh away. Alright, if this thing wasn’t going to let him go, he was going to keep tearing at it and free himself! His attacks were wild, slashing and hacking with fangs and claws. Blood and guts were running down his chest, flecking across his wings. Gah, this was gross! He had no idea how long he struggled, pants leaving his mouth as he sank in teeth again… and heard a voice. Gavroche looked up, ears perking as he realized that the snake’s grip had slacked slightly, though it was still trying to move. With some grunts and groans, he pulled himself free onto its back and then hopped down to freedom on the earth. “Yeah, got worried I was going to a smushed wolf for a moment there.” He grinned over at the girl. “Which is the thing… I’m not a bird at all~ I’m a wolf with wings! Gavroche Kedieo, miss. Couldn’t let you fight that thing all alone, big as it was.” He was glad she knew how to fight though. That definitely helped. "Speech," 'Thought.'
