Kotori wandered through the mangroves, looking about at the familiar scenery.  He saw the edges of the mangroves often enough when he watched Valta’s boundaries but rarely went in very far.  This was a place he’d spent more time in as a child or even as a younger adult when hunting.  This was still a perfectly acceptable place to hunt just not his favorite choice.  

The scent of deer and a hungry belly had brought Kotori out farther but now his plans were changing.  The deer was off the menu as another scent had come up.  There was a wolf out here and one that was still young judging by the scent.  It wasn’t one of Valta’s kids so, who was it and were there other wolves with it whose scent Kotori hadn’t yet caught.  

Kotori wasn’t bothering to hide the sound of his walking through the mangroves now.  He’d see what happened when the other wolf noticed him.

"Kotori Fatalis"

"Avast, ye putrid, pugnacious, prepubescent proboscis! " One small white paw flashed out, slapping repeatedly almost like a cat. A loud hiss crept out through the mangroves and a moment later there was a big splash as the water was disturbed. Siduri thought that she'd won, her fierce onslaught of smacky smacks driving the crocodilian away. She was kind of correct. The battered crocodile did indeed depart but the commotion drew a much larger one's attention.

As Sid began to turn away, she caught the dark shadow beneath the surface of the water. Just in time, she leaped to the side as the croc, easily fifteen feet in length, rocketed up onto dry land. The bassy thunk of it's jaws slamming together rattled Sid's bones and she gasped, losing her composure for a moment. Eyes wide, she looked at the giant reptile and, if she stayed that way, she'd soon be a nice little snack for it.

A young voice, a lady, was saying some rather unladylike things.  Kotori closed the distance just in time to see a near-disaster happen.  The child jumped just in time to avoid the powerful jaws of a giant crocodile.  The monster was something an adult needed to be cautious of and a child her size was an appetizer to the croc.  

Kotori leaped forward, taking the one free surprise attack he’d get as the greedy lizard had eyes only for his planned meal. He ran up from behind and to the right, lowering his head and tilting the muzzle down so that his horns slammed into the crocodile's back leg muscle.  Kotori’s teeth would have a hard time biting through that thick hide but with a running charge, the antlers jabbed through.

Kotori had fought enough crocodiles to not risk staying in one place.  The moment his horns connected he was quick to leap over the crocodile.  His action had the desired results.  The lizard forgot its puppy prey, its head and tail lashing about as it turned to face the threat.  Kotori and crocodile stared at each other.  His back feet were on a spot of solid land, his front paws partially under the water.  

"Kotori Fatalis"

Siduri was angry. She was never caught off guard like this! It was a good thing that no one sa-...Shit. A brown speckled guy ran in and jabbed the reptile with his horns. Dammit. Why didn't she have any fancy things with which to inflict optimum pain and suffering? The gods hated her. It was known.

As the croc spun to try and buy the dude, Siduri righted herself, taking a second to spit a bit of sand from her mouth before adding in her own attack. The pastel girl leaped over the big, thick tail. She aimed for the exact spot that the other wolf had gored with his horns, aiming to add more damage to the mix and open those wounds even wider.

Kotori had imagined the child fleeing but no, she was the good sort that had spirit.  At least, it was good if she lived and grew in skill.  The crocodile now had the problem of two wolves on different sides causing it pain.  It started to spin towards the child and Kotori lunged again, leaping onto the crocodile's back, feeling its muscles twisting like a mad thing under its leathery hide.  Kotori lowered his head for a swift motion, biting at the face, once then twice as he got the intended target, his tooth sinking into the crocodile's eye.

The mouth got close enough that Kotori could tell you about its prior meal in that scent and piece of something stuck between two of its teeth.  The wolf pulled back, then leaped to one side to avoid a swipe of its tail.  It was in pain, great.


"Kotori"

Bite bite bite. Chomp chomp chomp. Little teeth snapped into the area's on the reptiles body where the scales weren't crazy thick. This mostly meant the legs, the fat underside of the tail and the sides of the belly. She never got too close to the front and and she never got too close to the tip of the tail either. Sid had seen these things spin around on a dime and she wouldn't be waiting there like some colorful snack if this crocodile chose to do just that.

The croc was losing blood and stamina. They were powerful things, but they only had enough energy in them for a few good attacks before they had to recuperate. That's where this big guy was at. With one last hiss, it pushed and pulled, working its scaled body into deeper water and away from the two sets of biting canine teeth. "Tell your friends, too! Don't mess with Siduri the Crocodile Killer!"
