he's hot, but smells like a wet dog
The salt in the seawater had him hissing up a storm as he swam across, just focused on that and not the fact whilst no one peed in the ocean to mark it- the same couldn't be said for the islands.
Clambering ashore Black Island, Ronan glanced over his shoulder with a grimace. The swim was far harder than he'd anticipated, the water looked calm enough from the surface but the current was vicious and choppy, swirling undercurrents threatened to pull him under regardless of how hard he'd paddled. And worst of all, the coral was just as sharp as the thorns he'd escaped, adding a few more cuts to his already impressive, if not unwanted collection.
He breathed heavily as both water and droplets of blood fell to the black earth below.

Kenway had been practicing a lot of things. He'd been practicing fighting and practicing jewelry making, he was even wearing a tropical flower crown he hoped to offer to Sid when he got home. What he hadn't been practicing, was anything related to healing. So when the sound of something wet hauling itself up on the black rocked island (some of these stones were really cool and he already had a few gathered in a pile), smelling like fresh blood, well for a moment he'd thought a seal had dodged another shark and was about to run him off.
Golden eyes peered around the big black boulder he'd been using as a back rest while sorting through seaglass and stones. His heart leapt into his throat as he took in those vibrant colours and big leathery wings, practically about ready to vibrate right out of his skin as he emerged from his cover to excitedly squeal "Oh mums Gods its a real life DRAGON!!!" His tail waved excitedly at his back, clearly not afraid at all. "Whatsyernamewherereyerfromwhatdodragonseveneat
istheretreasureyerhoardinnearby?" The boy only stopped to deeply inhale to continue his questioning, his paws dancing like the stone under his feet was suddenly unbearable to maintain contact with for more than a few seconds.

His analysis of the terrain was quickly cut short by an unwelcome guest. Naturally.
With his wounds still stinging, he stared deadpan as the pup rattled on- speaking so fast it was hard to catch what he was saying.
"No." Was his knee-jerk response, with about the same energy a father who'd been dragged around a shopping centre by his wife and four screaming kids could muster. He was just that done.

The big dragon only responded with one word. No. Unfortunately for the stranger, that didn't seem to be a word the boy understood, the mere utterance would go unheard by the aspiring raider and he cocked his head. Was that blood he smelled? Looking a little closer, not all the red marks the stranger had were just his fur it seemed. "Aww'd'yer get cut up by th' coral ey?" Clearly not a water dragon, and he looked too heavy to fly. Ken figured he'd have to be a bit clever to get more than the word that shall not be heard from this guy.
He dashed off to nose through the spikey plants and broke off a few stems of aloe. "Sakana reckons this is th' best shit fer stingy cuts and scrapes, just smear th' sticky side where it hurts." He declared on his return after placing the offering where the dragon could grab at it if he wanted it. "I'm Kenway, do you have a name?" he asked hopefully, his tail thumping against the volcanic stone beneath his plush butt.

It made sense how some plants grew here at least, maybe the black soil further inland, off the slanting beach had nutrients these tropical plants liked. Cause he was sure as shit he hadn't seen some of the stuff growing here anywhere else.
"The briars back on the mainland. Coral didn't help though."
The kid turned to dash away and he followed him a few paces, careful with his step, not sure he wanted to find out what critters lived between the tight crevices of the jagged rocks. He heard something scuttling, made his ears twitch as his lips twisted in a grimace.
"Thanks." He uttered dryly, swiping the broken stem closer. It was leaking some sort of sappy, translucent liquid. It smelled pleasant enough but he wasn't sure if he trusted the kids word. When he'd seen first paw a pup eat literal garbage and call it a feast. "Ronan. You sure you should be out here?"

The boy hummed sympathetically as the stranger filled him in, first the brambles, Kenway winced, and then salt water and the coral? Wow, dragons were pretty tough.
His whole face lit up when he finally got a name out of the stranger, tucking it away in the back of his mind. The question was almost missed in his excitement, but he forced himself to stay on task, head tipping thoughtfully in response, "O'course, I live 'ere." His head tipped back towards Daager, "'m a Raider, an we live 'ere, visitors are alright though, 'slong as yer aren't bein' a cunt." He didn't have a second thought about using the word where a grown up might hear. Deluge said it all the time.
"How about you? Yer from aroun' these parts?"
