Ruby
There came the pink bastard! Stinking traitor. Sure none of them had known what to do in the wake of Habari's fall but at least he'd never sided with the bitch that had caused it! Everything went back to that day, Ichor was sure, and it made it all the worse that he knew several of his siblings had decided it was easier to stay than to fight like the hellions their mother had told them to be. Cowards. Ichor snorted as Ghoul spoke. "You think you get any right to avenge mom? Not while you kiss the ass of her usurper." Ichor couldn't help it, the anger he'd been nursing for so long needed a release and Sparrow wasn't doing that fast enough! He rounded on his brother, fur bristling and lips curling in a snarl. "Besides... I called dibs first." For a brief moment he flashed Ghoul a grin, and then the moment was gone and he was a whirlwind of snapping fangs. Ichor had never been a tactical fighter, he moved with pure instinct. That instinct was to grab, and rend and tear and make his opponents bleed. The tiny man dashed towards the closest of his brother's fore paws. He wanted to grab hold and crush, he wanted to feel bones crack under his bite, he wanted to hear the way tendons and muscle tore. But he'd be happy just to sink his fangs into any part of his brother. There was no upper limit for him, not for Ichor who couldn't hold himself back once the fighting started.

Ruby took her back limbs aiming to swing them to her own right in order to push Rubys body angle closer to Sparrows left side. Her toes still gripping the terrain, eyes narrowed to slits. Rubys tail moved to her right in order to aid her balance. Sparrows left forelimb raised trying to hook around Rubys right leg, Ruby lifted her right forelimb aiming to counter as she tried to slam her right forepaw into sparrows left hoping to aid in Rubys attempt to destroy the limb.
Sparrows jaws would miss their mark with Rubys ear still pinned to the back of her skull. Instead Sparrows teeth snapped at Rubys left cheek tearing off fur with mild pain in its wake. Ruby pushed her body weight forward her remaining limbs keeping firm while her shoulders rolled inward to fortify her defense. |
Ruby vs Sparrow for Death

The sound of someone summoning another to a fight of such a caliber was something that Veigar was intrigued by, but could generally easily ignore. For so long he'd been in no state to go far from Insomnia's lands at all, not when he was so all-consumed by hate and self-pity that lying somewhere and rotting away was about all he could do. Somehow he'd managed to crawl out of that hole, just barely - not that he was left any less cynical now. At last he had the strength to find his way toward the group that had begun to gather, finally no longer looking quite as emaciated as he had for so long. He'd explored the willow forest a bit before, and finding his way through it a second time proved easier, yet still he lagged behind. He wasn't quite sure who was calling who, or why such a fight was occurring. He instinctively found Medusa's scent, and Ghoul's, and headed toward the latter. But it was the tail end of what was being said that really piqued his interest. That was one of Ghoul's brother, wasn't it? They were talking about Recluse? One of the wolves here was someone who'd killed her? Immediately he felt his temper flair, the white markings on his coat glowing in sync with his rage. She'd been like a mother to him, though he was hardly a son to her in comparison to her actual children. But Veigar had a penchant toward latching onto parental figures in an unhealthy way, none of who ever really stuck around. There was nothing for him to do here yet though, not until the fight unfolded, so Veigar held back, seething but silent. |
Veigar is completely blind; his eyes are a hazy shade of pale yellow, though he tries his best to hide this fact.
His saliva also glows a faint shade of neon green since the Ooze event.
Trailing along at a far slower pace, heart thumping in his chest with a vengeance, the pallid prince swept through the willows with very little regard for the surroundings. He was oddly distant, mismatched eyes a little vacant, expression unreadable. Ears flat, head low between muscular shoulders. Already a crowd had begun to gather, the fight had begun and was in full swing by the time he broke through the ephemeral embrace of the soft, drooping willow branches. Though it was a flurry of movement and flying fur, he caught a few glimpses of his mother's killer. Clad in violet and slender as a knife between the ribs. A low, terrible growl burbled in the back of his throat, rose tinted lips peeling away from glinting fangs. Slate dappled hackles bristled, crown rising to grant better vantage of the battle as it unfolded. Every inch of him thrumming with violence and loathing.
Unable to tear his gaze from the death match, the once-prince found himself frozen in place. Rigor set in, brought about by an overwhelming amount of emotion- rage seated front and centre among them. Here he was, finally, seeing the bitch who had slaughtered his beloved mother. And he wanted nothing more than to watch her grow cold on the damp ground of the willows. Somewhere in the periphery of his attention, he heard his brothers. Ghoul- he hadn't seen Ghoul since... Well. He'd stumbled upon him lying broken at the feet of that strange statue. Gone looking for their sister for help, and come back empty handed. By the time he'd returned, Ghoul was gone. Where had he been this whole time? Sucking up to the bitch who'd stolen their home. Slowly, he peeled his gaze from the carnage to lay eyes on his dappled littermate. And there was Ichor, on the offensive. The two idiots were fighting? Now?
Carefully he picked his way over to where the pair were now locked in combat, and there he locked eyes with the usurper. Medusa. His brow furrowed as his lips curved into a scowl, only for a moment. He'd already defeated her, won his freedom. But Ghoul.. Well. He wasn't sure what to make of his traitorous brother. Evidently Ichor had decided on violence and anger, and Viscera... wasn't about to lift a finger, as it turned out. He sighed heavily, long since used to standing by to keep an eye on the barely contained chaos of his twin. He remained on his paws, one ear turned to his brothers and the rest of his attention on the potential death of the bitch who'd killed his mother. It was all just a waiting game now. And he would wait to see if he needed to take up the sword if Sparrow fell.

Life continues to change like the seasons around Calico Jack, each month blooming and dying in their own, inevitable turns as life has become something wonderful for the fatherless young man. Rivin has returned his affection in kind and the man has decided to step up and take on more responsibility in the Raiders Hollow. And just when life seems to be all rainbows and butterflies, the real world always has a nasty habit of crashing in.
Jack was out on the Isle when his mother’s challenging call boomed across the lands, demanding blood and vengeance for which some soul must pay. With his heart in his throat, the young man charges toward the battle, devouring the distance between him and the match that may very well, claim his mother’s life. The fight is already well underway, by the time he arrives and all that the man can do is skid to a stop near Gilgamesh and try to catch his breath.
Wide, fearful, icy-hued eyes look up to his King, as unvoiced questions whirl through his mind but, more than anything, he want to know why. True, Sparrow hadn’t been the best mother and, after Recluse’s death, she had escaped into a bottle but damn it all he is her son; and he loves her. Swallowing past a lump in his throat, Jack snaps his mouth closed and sets his jaw, turning his steely gaze to watch the fight.
Tears well, blurring the forms of the fighters but he is here to support to his mother in this life and death struggle. Heart thunders in his chest as his stomach somersaults and his head grows light but still, he remains standing, toes forcefully grip the earth to keep him from swaying. In this moment, Calico Jack knows that, no matter what happens here, things will forever be changed between the two of them.
Ghoul’s demeanor bristles more. Muscles tensing, his own lips pulling up in a sneer as he leans his muzzle closer to Ichor moments before the tiny Tasmanian devil whirls into action. “It’s called playing the long game, idiot,” the words seethed from his clenched teeth as his tongue presses to the roof of his mouth. He hunches his shoulders, scruff bunching up as he listens to the words Ichor practically yells at him. Dibs first? Yeah fucking right.
He allows Ichor to lunge forward toward his paw. Serrated teeth slash the tender flesh over his paw and latch on. Before Ichor can pull away and even though his toe bones are most likely broken, Ghoul has not a care. In a flash, Ghoul leans backward toward his haunches and then yanks his legs upward and out to try and fling his brother toward a nearby tree. If successful, Ghoul will turn toward Ichor and lunge forward to close the space between them.

Seere has never before heard a call demanding a payment so dire it can only be settled in blood. Curious and knowing that the new King of Ashen does not like to go to large gatherings, the small woman decides to head out to collect information. With her healing satchel full and firmly in place across her back, she gathers her companions and strikes out for the willows, arriving well after the fight has started. Mismatched eyes scan the crowd, spying the woman Medusa who she had once helped give birth and the small healer offers her a smile. Eyes slide over the crowd until, there in the back, lingering in the shadows, was a ghost she long thought dead from years past. Shock and relief ripple through the woman, rolling over her features as she spies the Champion Azure who she had once cared for and had been extremely worried about, watching the unfolding events with keen interest. A beautifully marked woman stands by his side so Seere aims to quietly but politely approach the pair. Softly, she greets the man she has missed, “Hello Azure. I thought… I thought something bad had happened to you." Mismatched gaze is filled with sorrow as she looks up at him but there is also relief in them as a warm smile blooms across her face. The unknown woman leans into the taller man’s shoulder and the younger woman’s gaze shifts over to her and the monochrome woman quietly says, “I am Seere Klein-Destruction, Noble of Ashen.” A respectful dip of her head is given as she moves to sit near the pair, close enough so that she can talk to them while still allowing them enough room to allow the pair to feel like they have their own space. Gaze flicks over to the pair as she whispers, “What is happening?” Both wolves are unknown to her and the reason for this is beyond her knowledge. Hopefully, they can offer her information that she can take back to Ashen and give to her reclusive Uncle so he can be kept abreast of current affairs.
|
Seere has a male Pallas's cat named Paunch and a female barn swallow named Aisling. They are always nearby.
Kotori approached the gathering, spotting family amongst numerous other wolves. He could hear Sparrow speaking of her enemy's guilt. This was a battle to the death for revenge of a loved one's death. Kotori listened to numerous wolves speaking up enough to gather this wolf had killed Recluse.
Kotori hadn’t known Recluse well but she had been on good terms with the Armada back when he was young. She had lost her pack land and truth be told Kotori hadn’t bothered keeping up with what had become of Recluse. Was this recent or perhaps happened when he had been off traveling?
Yet here was a pirate coming to avenge her. Kotori wished Sparrow the best on that. His eyes met Azure’s and Kotori wondered how his older brother felt on this. Could he hope that the murderer of Recluse would die at Sparrow’s paw? Or did he want Ruby to kill Sparrow?
Kotori moved near Artorias, offering his brother-in-law a slight nod to acknowledge him but remained quiet, his attention on the match for now. It seemed if Sparrow died others were ready to attack Ruby instead. She likely was a dead wolf walking regardless of how this went.
The calls came for Sparrow's support, and each one filled her with a small sense of self that she hadn't felt since Recluse's death. She had been swallowed whole by the event, and then, in response, she swallowed the bottle. It had consumed her- drove her- and now, at it's climax, parts of herself cracked and began to come through. That's not to say she was ever a better wolf or anything, just that she had never been... this. In the familiarity of her friends' voices, their scents surrounding her, Sparrow found herself again.
Sparrow focused back on the fight, her three grounded legs bent lightly for balance, her toes and claws digging into the ground for traction. Her hackles were higher than ever, providing plush padding from attacks. Tail flagged out for a show of dominance and to help direct her movement. Her shoulders remained rolled, pushing her skin and fur forward to protect her neck. To protect her face from glancing blows, she kept her ears pulled back, eyes narrowed, muzzle tight and wrinkled. If she was going to win this, she had to keep on her toes.
Sparrow's attacks had put the two in close combat. Ruby gnawed on Sparrow's left middle deltoids, teeth puncturing deeply, leaving moderate tooth-sized holes that bled freely in Ruby's grasp and would likely leave moderate bruising around their openings. Sparrow's rolled shoulders helped push extra skin and padding around the area, but even she knew she couldn't keep this up forever. Ruby swung her body around, and her right foreleg pushed Sparrow's left foreleg out of the way as Sparrow tried to hook her. Sparrow had, at least been able to get some tooth in, though she missed her mark.
With Ruby to Sparrow's left, Sparrow shifted her weight to her back legs, lifting her forelimbs off the ground. Sparrow reared, the skin on her left shoulder ripping from Ruby's grip, leaving moderate tearing to the puncture wounds on her deltoids. Keeping her weight distributed to her back paws, Sparrow lifted her left leg and attempted to slam down and wrap her left paw around the right side of Ruby's neck, where her neck met her shoulders through the trapezius, with the hopes of shocking her with the sudden downward force and slicing Ruby's skin with her cat-like claws.
Her jaws hinged open and snapped forward, aiming to grip and crush Ruby's right eye socket. Simultaneously, Sparrow heaved her weight forward and down with the aim of pinning the smaller woman with her weight. She knew if she could gain control of the woman, she would be victorious. |

Unfortunately for Ichor his brother knows him well and once he's latched on very little can get him to let go. So with his fangs firmly in his brother's paw it's no surprise that he is easily lifted and- despite Ichor's best efforts, flung towards the nearest tree. Ichor can only hope that his teeth left their mark as he was forecfully dislodged. Those serrated edges weren't just for show, but for tearing. At least that's what he hopes in the few seconds his body is in the air before he crashes against the trunk of a tree. The space between him hitting the tree and then hitting the ground is lost to him, but he's not out for long. Ghoul pounding down on him, Ichor turns into a spitting rage ball. Practically throwing himself at his bigger brother and hoping to just grab hold of any part of Ghoul, chest, legs, muzzle if it's lowered to his reach, whatever he can get his fangs in so he can try and rip his brother apart, all gnashing teeth and tossing head. Whatever justifications Ghoul had given had not even reached Ichor, all he could hear was his own blood and rage. He wasn't even feeling the pain of being thrown bodily into a tree, well not yet anyways, that'd set in as soon as the match was called and one of them was victorious over the other.

The more Sparrow rolled internally back into her old self, the more she found herself lavishing the fight. A fight with consequences, not some spar. Blood, real deep blood spilled on the ground and across her tongue. She likely wouldn't get a chance like this again even if she did live past this fight. She obviously wanted- needed- to avenge Recluse, but the small part of her true self that came shining through rippled with excitement.
Sparrow splayed her back legs for balance, evenly distributing her weight between them. Her back toes dug into the ground for traction to keep her from slipping. Now more than ever, Sparrow flagged her tail out for balance, only briefly considering pulling it in for protection over her belly. Her hackles remained knit along her back providing extra padding, just as the extra skin she rolled across her neck and chest would. She kept her eyes narrowed, ears back, and face tensed to keep deflecting any attacks to her face and head.
Ruby's right shoulder hit its mark into the center of Sparrow's left armpit, leaving moderate bruising and adding a shockwave of pain to the previous injury on her left foreleg. Ruby's teeth tore at the skin above Sparrow's second and third left ribs, the skin flaying and tearing moderately under the tension as blood dribbled freely to the ground.
Sparrow flexed her left forepaw, aimed to grip and slice downward and deeper onto Ruby's right side with the hopes of tearing into her right rhomboid muscle attached to the back of her right shoulder blade. Sparrow pulled her head back, opening her jaws once again. She tucked her chin, tilted her head to her left, and drove her open maw downwards, seeking to grip and tear the skin away from the back of Ruby's skull. Simultaneously, she shifted her weight between her two grounded back legs and threw her weight down and to her left. It would worsen her left armpit bruising, but she hoped to crush Ruby at her breaking point. If she could just overpower her here, then she could make sure the woman suffered properly. |

The weight of his wife against his shoulder drew his attention. She shouldn't be here - the koi wolf could never handle violence. He rested his head against hers, giving her what small comfort he could.
Seere's greeting was surprising, and for a moment he could not peg who exactly this woman was. Time had aged her - she was so young when he saw her last. He did not get left in the dark long, however. She gave her name, and Azure's lip twitched in the barest of smiles. "Something bad did happen to me." He confided in the Klein woman cryptically. "Though nothing as bad as what's happening here." With a motion of his head he gestured to the battle. "Recluse, your... aunt, maybe? Was killed by that woman over there. Sparrow seeks to avenge her where the Empire did not."
Catching her introduction to Hana, Azure offered the koi-wolf's name in turn. "This is Hanako, my mate. Hana, Seere is the Ashen wolf responsible for making sure this -" He gestured to the grizzly scar that tore across his cheek. "- did not kill me."
Not all of these features are always reflected in his art.
Reaching out the unbroken paw to his brother, he offers to help him stand. "When the time comes, I hope you answer my call," are the only words he'll offer Ichor. Cryptic as they are, he says nothing else. Instead, once he knows his brother is okay, he turns to focus back on the fight. Silently, he roots for Sparrow to win, but shows nothing upon his face.

SPARROW!
RUBY has been slain!
Sparrow's mind slowly ebbed and faded in the bloodlust of the struggle, her vision drenching with deep reds. Her teeth gnashed at the enemy before her, tearing it from bone as her opponent's teeth did the same. Eventually, the bloody tide of the battle shifted, and Sparrow, worn and wrought with grief, began to gain the upper hand. She pushed further into the depths of her power, tapping the very source of her being - all her emotions and skills coming together and exploding through her battered body as it struggled to hold itself up. Just a little more... There was no time to relish a win, to ask Ruby to grovel, to look in her eyes for the fear for her demise. They struggled to the end, gristle and streams of saliva and blood covering each other and the ground below them. It was Ruby who buckled first, giving Sparrow the brief moment she needed to gather the rest of her willpower up. She attacked with everything she had, again and again, shredding fur from flesh and flesh from body. Her ears rang and her pain dulled as she was swallowed by the overwhelming sensation of accomplishing her goals. A scream tore from her chest, both victorious and labored with effort and mourning. Her vision stirred to the bloody mess of what used to be Ruby, her limbs at odd angles and her torso opened up to a soupy cavity. Her lifeless eyes had only just started to dull, her bloodied maw seeming too pleased with itself. Without a thought, Sparrow snapped down and worked her jaw through the woman's bones, severing head from neck, tail from hips, limbs from body. It was done. She wanted to scream again. She drank in the moment as she greedily gulped down breaths into her burning lungs, her eyes turning to those who surrounded her. Seer wasn't there, but someone else was. Sparrow dripped with her and her opponent's blood. She expected to feel lighter somehow, steeped in bliss and sunlight, but she just felt vindictive. It was over. What now? Like always, she could put on a show. Sparrow tore an ear from Ruby's head, tossing at Azure and Hana, her smile crazed and sharp, "Figured you'd want a souvenir from the victor, too bad it was me, huh?" Her eyes glid over to Hanako for a moment, lingering on the tiny figure and how she had cowered into Azure's battered figure. They both looked as if the world had wrung them out and they deserved it, along with each other. Sparrow looked for Azure's father, a man she had come to like much better, but he was nowhere to be found. Sparrow turned instead to Artorias. They were... cousins or something. Whatever, Sparrow tossed him the woman's legs. "Tell Seer I avenged her," she said. Sparrow levelled her gaze at Medusa, "You're off the hook, for now." Everyone else was likely an ally of some sort. She motioned Friar over and he came, sticks and jars and all ready to help. Sparrow piked the woman's head and threw her heart into a jar. "The rest of her can go into the volcano for all I care." Anyone was free to take the tail or whatever bits of her torso were left. Friar carted off his bloodied trophies to show off at the party, no doubt. Sparrow staggered towards the more familiar faces of Álarr and Gil, and some others she was sure she was hallucinating from bloodless at this point. Torn wounds throbbed as her adrenalin ebbed away, flaps of skin hanging where they shouldn't be. "Hey guys," she nearly slurred. Fuck, her vision was starting to get all wonky. "I think I need a drink..." |
Sparrow has a female Harlequin Macaw named Pongolo and a male Capuchin monkey named Friar, and a hairless mushroom tuxedo cat named Beef Sandwich. She also has cat claws... and some weird leg spike things.
His expression didn't flinch as Sparrow tore Ruby limb from limb. Something in him didn't quite feel complete watching his mother's killer die before his eyes. Why hadn't it been him to do it? Why hadn't he spent more time trying to avenge his mother? Was there something there under it all that said something about that? Yet, Ghoul wanted a piece, a trophy, a reminder that the woman who had ended his mother's life was no longer around. Had felt the same pain his mother had and even more. This Sparrow definitely didn't leave anything to your imagination. Standing up, Ghoul steps forward and approaches the monkey and Ruby's dead carcass. "I want the eyes," he grumbles quietly. Waiting patiently as he allows Sparrow's monkey to delicately dig out the eyes from their sockets and hand them over to him in a small glass jar full of water. He would have to ask Mac how to preserve them better, but it would do for now. Being in possession of the one thing that Ruby used to see his mother for the last time before her death started to help his heart feel better. Turning from the carcass, Ghoul makes his way back over to Mac, Veigar, Ichor, and Viscera. "Best hurry if any of you lot want a piece. Looks like scavengers aren't wasting time," Ghoul whispers to the group before turning to head back to Insomnia lands. - exit Ghoul unless stopped - |
