after several hours of attempted sleep, Spider huffs to themselves and scrambles out of bed, shooting it a baleful glare. something is keeping them awake and restless, crawling beneath their pelt like an insatiable itch. sighing, the teen exits the treehouse under cover of night and slips into the forest, hoping to tire themselves out with a walk. the moon, however, immediately snags their attention. it’s been particularly bright this season, large and yellow and emitting a brilliant glow that turns the undergrowth silver. and around them, branches rustle and twigs snap, signalling the presence of prey. they’re strangely active, given the time of night, seemingly as restless as Spider had been.
tantalising scents bathe their tongue, stomach rumbling as they squint through the darkness. carefully, they ease forward on light feet, picking out a scent and following it quietly. rabbit. a smile quirks along their lips, something toothy and eager. perhaps a midnight snack is just what they need.
