The sun was unusually warm for the season, and it was hard to pass up the opportunity to soak up the gentle rays while the brisk autumn breeze ruffled his coat and kept him from overheating. It was a beautiful day, one that he was more than happy to enjoy with his son. It was rare that Val stopped by, he was more of a wanderer at heart than anyone else the aging giant had known. Certainly more than he'd ever been. The two of them were enjoying a rare moment of tenderness, their tails resting atop one another as the two celestially adorned titans lounged with eyes closed and heads lolling a little. The temptation to nap was overwhelming.

Deion, to his credit, would sleep when he was dead. So he let out a long sigh, and blinked those crimson eyes open to examine the movements of the buffalo that still lingered on the knolls. "Have you considered sticking around for a while? I think your sister is going to be joining us in the future, and I would not turn you away should you want to stay for a season or two." he rumbled quietly to his son, making a point not to look at him. After a beat, he thumped his tail affectionately against Val's, kicked a paw out to nudge him. "Also, I will be dead soon. You should spend more time with your dear, decrepit father before he is worm food." though he spoke in a relatively monotonous grumble, there was a distinct humour to be found in his deadpan tone and stoic delivery. What were eldest sons for, if not to bully into being responsible?

With his little jab at his boy delivered, the curmudgeonly brute shook out his ruff and resumed his observation of the herd's movements. Hardly a skilled hunter by any metric, he was still keen to keep an eye out for stragglers. There were plenty of mouths to feed, and many of them quite young. As winter reared its bitter head, a store of rich buffalo meat would be helpful to keeping everyone healthy during the lean times.

Visiting with his sire was part of his ritual, some kind of rite of passage that granted him safe access to the northern and southern halves of Boreas when he made the migratory trip with the seasons. This time around, he was more interested in checking up on the old man. He'd returned to pack life, which somewhat assuaged the young titan's worries. There would be many other eyes to ensure that the old man didn't keel over in some ditch, never to be seen or heard from again. Today, they were enjoying one another's company in amicable silence. At least for a time. When Deion spoke up about his joining the pack as well, the nomad couldn't help the way his lip turned up in a grimace. To be tied down by border and duties.. he hardly relished the notion. The mention of his sister- no specifics to which sister, in true Deion fashion- he did perk up somewhat. Neither of the girls were the type to align themselves with a leader, not without a great deal of consideration (and intimidation).

And then, of course, the bastard had to make it about feelings. Obviously, Valerian had no interest in thinking about his father's age, or his health, or the inevitability of death. He was still young, and he didn't want to live his life without a father. That grimace turned to a scowl, one which might have put his father's to shame once upon a time. He cast a furtive glance towards his sire, golden eyes tracing the ever-growing patch of silver that stained his muzzle. "I spend plenty of time with you already," he grunted, trying to cover the tension in his voice with the growling baritone tombre itself. "and you're not decrepit- there are plenty of older men out there, with far shittier bones than yours." he added, matching the gentle prod of hind paws with a light kick of his own to his old man's ass. What a bastard. Now the thought of his dad dying was going to haunt his every waking moment while he tried to enjoy his adventures.

"Why don't you impart some wisdom on me, then. If you're so ancient, there must be a story or two in that old head of yours that I haven't heard yet." he teased, teeth and tusks flashing in the mid-afternoon light as he grinned.

Taking advantage of the warm Autumn day was exactly what Lumine planned to do. With Winter just around the corner, threatening snow sooner and sooner by the day, there was no time to waste! Practically dragging Bjorn by his scruff, the lanky girl took them away from the borders of the territory. Outside of the boundary, they were safe to do much more without being watched. Of course, a companion or two were sure to follow, but she never heeded their existence.

Out here, where the bison roamed and the evil crept in closer, Lumine and Bjorn were free to do anything. Its with that promise that she kicks up her heels and lets out a peeling laugh as she crests the top of a knoll. Bison languish throughout the grass around them, minding their business, just waiting to be picked on. Lumine doesn't have a mean streak nor does she think it fair to pick on others, but causing a bit of mayhem never hurt anyone. At least intentionally.

Just as she's about to make her way toward the heard, a duo of aurora colored beasts catch her attention. Slowing her pace and changing trajectory toward them, she recognizes the older one as Deion. An older fellow that their father had recently accepted into the pack. Letting out a cheerful call as she drags her brother closer to Deion and she can only assume is his son, she smiles at the two older males. "Deion," Lumine greets, her muzzle dipping toward him out of respect. "What're you guys talking about?" Her head cants to the side, large white-blue eyes blinking quickly as she takes a seat in the soft grass.

They can be the evil, wreaking havoc and running amok-- really, all the best things. Björn⁢ wouldn't be kept on a leash and he wouldn't be supervised, thank you very much. Well, okay, he wouldn't be openly supervised. By anyone. For any reason, nope, no sir. Against all authority, except his mom. And maybe sometimes he'd go along with someone else's ideas when they were good ideas, and ideas that came from someone he didn't hate.

That is to say, Björn is quick to trollop after his sister, as she settles to talk with Deion and some tall punk. If he had to guess, maybe they're father and son, too. Panting, still trying to catch his breath (still puppy-chubby, cut him a break), Björn⁢ crashes into the grass beside Lumine. "Hej Deion," politely enough, at least.
