The cold north winter does wonders for the boy's lungs. It's clear and fresh, bracing. A chill that lives inside him and keeps him company, even if there are things he'd rather not think about. Rather not dwell on. Erik doesn't need to think. He needs to hunt, he needs to breathe, he needs to be.

Drifting from the Steppe to the lands beyond, Erik's gaze is keen. While he's been here, it's never been his home before. Stepping out into the Thicket, the viking boy tips his head, scenting the air. There are creatures here, tasty ones, rustling in the undergrowth. The musk of a wild boar... time for bacon? Count him in.

Kaino was also sniffing future bacon on the wind. She was hungry and apparently she wasn't the only one. The lavender fae ran across Erik, the young wolf that she'd met before. The pair agreed to go on a little hunt together for their mutual benefit. Two could bring down a boar easier than one, right? Right.

Pink nose to the ground, Kaino scented the path of the boar. It wasn't too difficult to follow at all. Pigs were stinky things, their musk thick on the air. Everywhere they went, they left ruts in the ground, too. Tracking was almost pointless, but it wasn't only the pigs that Kai was scenting. She wanted to know about her surroundings, as a good hunter should.

Up ahead she could hear the familiar piggy grunts and one smokey shoulder lifted, indicating that they should move further ahead. Soon their bellies would be full. Just a little burst of energy, a couple of bites, and BAM. Dinner.

"Speech"

Hot on the beast's trail, but he's not the only one. Kaino-- Erik greets her with a toss of his head and a confident grin. They have the same objective, why not work together? Pleased that he's got company, Erik is hot on the boar's trail. Head low, gaze keen as it lands on the ruts, ears flicking backwards as they come upon the things. Gods, how they fucking stink.

No matter.

With a confident look to Kaino, Erik leads the charge on the beast. A solitary male, as they often were this time of year, rummaging in the sparse undergrowth of the thicket. Trying to forage. Poor bastard. Erik is quick as he sights the beast, coming to life. Running full out, long legs beating against the ground, confident strides pushing him forward. Taking the boar head on, and fuck it, the boar knows too. A swing of its tusked head catches Erik in the shoulder, but the viking boy only laughs, sinking his teeth into the beast's shoulder.

The pair don't need to share a word. Erik rushes in head on, meeting the boar face to face, while Kaino's path runs wide. The amaranthine fae slams hard into the boars hip, teeth not far behind. The porcine falters, stumbling to the side, and Kaino persists with her pushing. Soon its hind legs are out from under it. Perfect. Easy.

Though nothing substantial, Kaino uses her weight to pin the boars back end to the ground. Teeth bite into its bristly spine and the woman wrinkles her nose as she does so. Gods, these things fucking stink! She was going to have to take a bath after this just so she didn't smell like pig ass too.

Carefully, quickly, they close in on the beast. Slamming into the boar, ripping and shredding with their teeth. The beast's hind legs go down, and Erik rocks into the creature's shoulders. For as wretched as the thing smells, he knows there's a good meal soon to come. Snarling as he rips into the boar, cutting through the thick hide and bristles. Gross. Gross. At least it wouldn't be long, yet.

Watching the pig go the rest of the way down is nice, but Erik doesn't have time to stop and be proud of himself. Instead, he sinks his teeth in around the creature's neck once more, allowing the gore and blood to stain his dark coat even darker. Efficient.

The pair worked together efficiently. There's no need for words. Not while they're working. Erik kept the head under control while Kaino kept the body pinned to the ground. Regardless, the damn thing thrashed and bucked. Many underestimated the power of a pig. They were lumps of solid muscle.

Erik soon had his grip on the boars throat and Kaino continued to hold the beast down, teeth sunk into flesh for extra hold. As all things did, the boar soon gave up its fight and died. Only then did the purple woman release her hold and take a step back. She stunk. She knew she stunk. Blech.
